500 Gb HD 2 TB External Drive Says Not Enough Space

Nov 20, 2012

1. I have a 500 gb HD C and using a empty 2 TB external Drive, it gets to a point (different each time) stops and says nt enough space.

2. This stopping of backking up is annoying in itself. So I hit to restart back up and instead of it continuing whare it left of from the other BU it begins a whole new Bakup. This Time I have 2003 zipped files while the last 2 times I had like 316 on one and 988 on another.

Is this just win 7 and its back ups? I have 2 other programs I can use Nero back up and Mameo, should I reformat disk and try one o them?

External Hard Drive Shows Used Space But Empty Folders

Mar 23, 2012

I have a 500gb seagate external hard drive, and already used 240gb space. It worked fine until yesterday suddenly i could not access the files at all. I checked disk management, and it showed that my external drive became RAW drive. I tried to do chkdsk that I learned from one of the forum, and then it somehow has fixed the RAW drive back to FAT32. However I still cannot see any of my files. I opened command prompt, and typed in dir /a and it said 0 files 0 bytes, 4 DIR 288,714, 293, 248 bytes free. How can I bring my files back?? I don't want to lose my files.

Loss Of Disk Space On Samsung External 1TB Drive After 'cleanup'

Sep 20, 2012

I know about the immediate 'loss' of disk space owing to the two different methods of measurement. 1Tb to 931Gb - it's annoying, but I'm used to it.No, before a defrag by Fixbee I had 701Gb free, afterwards - in a matter of 2 hours - I had 537Gb. Obviously, I'm not going to use this product again, where a clean-up is obviosly a 'dirt up', but how do I undo the damage that it's caused - especially if it's not the only 'clean up' tool that might do this?

Hard Drive Partition: Adding Free Space Back To C Drive?

Sep 7, 2012

I installed Ubuntu on my computer a few months ago and created another partition for it on my 1TB hard drive. I didn't really care for Ubuntu so I decided to delete the partition it was on. That might have been a mistake. Well, now there's 87.68GB of free space on my hard disk that I can't use and I don't know how to add it back to my c: partition.

There was another post about this a couple years ago, but I don't understand the instructions and am not actually sure if it worked. Can someone explain how to do this, please? I'm not completely computer illiterate, but I'm not familiar with partitioning disks. It was just the one time with Ubuntu.

Hard Drive Space?

Jul 17, 2012

I have a recent Win764 build less than 6 months old, seems to have a virus or something that is making the hard drive space dissapear. The accual contents are 36GB out of 300GB. The computer will display that there is only 3.75GB left out of 300GB. I ran windirstat and tree and it gives me the correct allocation of data. The data matches what is supposed to be on this drive, there is no random file that is taking up 275GB. Leads me to believe that its a Virus, and cannot find to much on the subject

(C:) Drive Losing Space On Its Own?

Nov 20, 2010

About 1 week from today, I installed my copy of Windows 7. I had 92.7 GB free of 123 GB by the end of the day after downloading/installing all of the programs I needed. (I'm ocd so I keep track of how much space I have in my (C) Drive after every download/install.So the next morning I turn my laptop on. What?! I suddenly have 90.8 GB free of 123 GB on my (C) Drive?!Now I'm sitting here a week later down to 88.9 GB free of 123 GB in my (C) Drive.Besides downloading/installing the things I needed, I also did Disk Cleanups where I got rid of of my Windows.old files (XP and Vista). I've also deleted all of my System Restore and Shadow Copies in the More Options tab. Could that be the reason why?

Low C: Drive Storage Space?

Feb 18, 2013

I'm obviously brand new to the forums so I hope this is the right place for this. I should start with my type of drive; I have a 120gb Cherryville SSD from Intel serving as my C: Drive. Just the other night I had approximately 43GB left in my C: Drive (note this is incredibly low as well, but I was content). Last night I checked again and saw that I was down to 25! I performed a disk defrag and that actually decreased my storage to 23! I am absolutely puzzled as to the cause of this.

The only thing I have done between the time that I had over 40 and last night was update my visual BIOS (having nothing to do with my C: Drive at all) and download a simple XML update for Microsoft Expressions (which was measured in kilobytes). Granted I have done my fair share of updating .net framework and various other updates, but all of my major programs are on my hard drive, not my SSD. To put this into visual perspective, I'd like to share a photo showing around 25GB of space taken that is absolutely nowhere to be found, I find it hard to believe that Windows and a few programs can take up nearly 90GB of storage.

Inside there userskcameron - thats me - it says used 34gigs.When i check through all of the libary folders inside i cannot find more then a few megs of stuff. so 34gigs is being used, but i cannot find it.anyone have any ideas, or tools i could use to check this out? Where Did All The Space Go On Hard Disk Drive C

Aug 17, 2011

Last night I noticed it had turned the bar to red, and said I had only 12 GB left of 135 GB. Im not into video, music, games or anything else I know of that would use that much space. I surf the web, and keep some scanned and some text documents. A few months ago I carefully installed Windows 7, instead of Vista which my PC came with. No problems. I just now deleted the old Windows stuff, and that freed up 47 GB, so thats good. I suspect that my hard drive was partitioned during that installation of Windows 7, and I dont know that that is necessary. Can that be undone?

Is It Possible To Lose Hard Drive Space

Dec 4, 2012

I very recently purchased a new Desktop running Windows 7.Am Computer illeterate more or less!I have always been conscious of space on my Hard Drive and the most I used on my old PC was 60gb max.Used easy transfer (not that easy!) to get all my old data across, then started putting in programmes I used. One was Google Earth. Worked first task, then didn't so uninstalled, reinstalled - no luck, so finally uninstalled.HD usage upto now was an acceptable 40gb.One day, whilst PC was in standby, I saw something was active, so using Task Manager saw it was Google Earth??? Was NOT installed but the process was upto 25%?Stopped that but later saw my HD usage was around the 100gb mark!Done regedit and all that to see if Google Earth showed up but nothing.Did a Spy Bot scan and it came up with numerous entries -C:UsersAnge&GeoffsAppdataLocall.....Cannot find that but has all that space gone into a "black hole"?Apart from updating Windows 7, I have downloaded nothing to account for that massive HD space?
