My C drive is showing that i have 1.6 GB of empty space. But when see the the contents by opening C drive and selecting everything and doing a space check i see only 86 GB of space taken up. My C partition is 100 GB and I have my page files are on a different drive. So pagefile.sys cannot be a problem, could it?

I have two hard drives:
Solid State (Mainly just the OS on here)2nd hard drive with everything else on it.Windows is saying I have used 31.5 gb of space on the SSD.When I enable hidden folders/files and select everything on the drive, it is only coming up with 21.5gb used.I DO NOT have system restore enabled.I DO NOT have Windows backup enabled.Honestly have no clue what is causing this 10gb or so of space to be unaccounted for but I know it wasn't always like this
I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit installed on my laptop. My problem is that my c drive shows 26 GB used space. However, if i go inside c drive and check properties of all folders including hidden files and protected operating system files, the total comes up to 29.1 GB. I have deleted all restore points and have system restore enabled only on c drive. I have allocated 3 GB on c drive for system restore points.......
View 10 Replies View RelatedI mapped a few network drives to different shared folders on my EX485 with the inital 750GB drive installed. Since then, I have installed an additional 2x1TB. However, in Windows 7 it is showing 1.18TB free of 678GB, so it recognizes the correct free space, but is still showing the old HDD total. I've removed the mappings and readded and rebooted both my PC and WHS with no luck.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have one more problem with my laptop this time . i have a Dell xps 15 , i re partitioned it and made my C drive of 141 GB . i installed all the required application and from the last few days i was watching the there is less space in my C drive than it should be there. i checked out the properties and found out that only 32.6 GB of disk space is utilized out of 141 so there should be around 108 GB free instead it shows me that only 92.9 gb is free .i cleared out the temp folder and there is nothing except 3-4 files which is of some Kbs . then where is the rest 15 GB gone ? is there a virus in my pc which is eating up the space ? i am really freaked out
i have a genuine windows 7 ultimate and microsoft security essential and it is updated and i scanned it and found nothing . btw there is something more , few hours ago there was 94.8 GB free , i installed a game in another drive and i removed it after 2-3 minutes coz i didn't liked it , so after un installing the game i saw there there was 93.4 GB left in my c drive again , i removed files from the temp folder but nothing happened and now there is just 92.9 gb left ! what is happening ! i am really freaked out now
I'm running Windows 7 64bit on a notebook. One 500GB drive partitioned to an OS drive and a data drive.I run AVAST (paid version), Malware Bytes and unhackme and no viruses/trojans/rootkits discovered - I'm a stickler for security.I noticed in Windows Exploring that both drives were getting low on available storage (both <8GB). I copied 30GB from the data drive and 10GB from the OS drive to an external drive and deleted the files from the notebook, using shift key/delete. I cleared the Recycle Bin; ran Disk error check (Scandisk) and defragged both drives.Folder Size & Treesize Pro both tell me I have 180GB & 100Gb respectively free; versus Windows Explorer 5Gb & 6GB.My available storage only increased by 800MB and 600MB respectively after deleting the files, so for a file removal of 40Gig I get back 1.4gig of HD space.I've checked pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys [8GB between them] and they haven't altered recently.Ran CCleaner's Registry cleaner - no difference.I rang the OS support for my Notebook Manufacturer and spent 1/2 a day trying different things including HD tune. They couldn't figure it out but suggested Utorrent may be grabbing HDD space so I uninstalled it.... no difference.

I am looking at a 1TB disk, which with partitioning considered is showing as a 931GB disk - however even though I am using only 421GB of the disk space Windows 7 (Explorer) is showing that there is only 202GB free on the disk.As you can see above I selected all of the files on the disk, right clicked, selected Properties, and the results of my enquiry are shown (superimposed over the Explorer view).

Anyway, I had a RETAIL windows 7 professional disc, and I installed this onto my dell laptop. However, it keeps telling me that my product key is wrong when I try to activate. I have tried both 32bit and 64bit? is it because I'm using a RETAIL windows 7 disc? If I try a dell oem disc, will that work with my product key?
So I can't change the drive letter. Do I need to use Partition Magic again? The more I keep hearing/reading "do you have a backup?" - makes me believe the tool (OS) isn't capable of handling/accessing the data properly.

The accual contents are 36GB out of 300GB. The computer will display that there is only 3.75GB left out of 300GB. I ran windirstat and tree and it gives me the correct allocation of data. The data matches what is supposed to be on this drive, there is no random file that is taking up 275GB. Leads me to believe that its a Virus, and cannot find to much on the subject
View 3 Replies View Related1. I have a 500 gb HD C and using a empty 2 TB external Drive, it gets to a point (different each time) stops and says nt enough space.
2. This stopping of backking up is annoying in itself. So I hit to restart back up and instead of it continuing whare it left of from the other BU it begins a whole new Bakup. This Time I have 2003 zipped files while the last 2 times I had like 316 on one and 988 on another.
Is this just win 7 and its back ups? I have 2 other programs I can use Nero back up and Mameo, should I reformat disk and try one o them?
About 1 week from today, I installed my copy of Windows 7. I had 92.7 GB free of 123 GB by the end of the day after downloading/installing all of the programs I needed. (I'm ocd so I keep track of how much space I have in my (C) Drive after every download/install.So the next morning I turn my laptop on. What?! I suddenly have 90.8 GB free of 123 GB on my (C) Drive?!Now I'm sitting here a week later down to 88.9 GB free of 123 GB in my (C) Drive.Besides downloading/installing the things I needed, I also did Disk Cleanups where I got rid of of my Windows.old files (XP and Vista). I've also deleted all of my System Restore and Shadow Copies in the More Options tab. Could that be the reason why?

After installing Win 7 x64 my install was a bloated 20gb. This includes 8gb in the c:windows emp folder that I can't delete. After installing a few apps and games, I have 12gb free. I cannot account for 15gb of "missing space"

I'm obviously brand new to the forums so I hope this is the right place for this. I should start with my type of drive; I have a 120gb Cherryville SSD from Intel serving as my C: Drive. Just the other night I had approximately 43GB left in my C: Drive (note this is incredibly low as well, but I was content). Last night I checked again and saw that I was down to 25! I performed a disk defrag and that actually decreased my storage to 23! I am absolutely puzzled as to the cause of this.
The only thing I have done between the time that I had over 40 and last night was update my visual BIOS (having nothing to do with my C: Drive at all) and download a simple XML update for Microsoft Expressions (which was measured in kilobytes). Granted I have done my fair share of updating .net framework and various other updates, but all of my major programs are on my hard drive, not my SSD. To put this into visual perspective, I'd like to share a photo showing around 25GB of space taken that is absolutely nowhere to be found, I find it hard to believe that Windows and a few programs can take up nearly 90GB of storage.
