I have one more problem with my laptop this time . i have a Dell xps 15 , i re partitioned it and made my C drive of 141 GB . i installed all the required application and from the last few days i was watching the there is less space in my C drive than it should be there. i checked out the properties and found out that only 32.6 GB of disk space is utilized out of 141 so there should be around 108 GB free instead it shows me that only 92.9 gb is free .i cleared out the temp folder and there is nothing except 3-4 files which is of some Kbs . then where is the rest 15 GB gone ? is there a virus in my pc which is eating up the space ? i am really freaked out
i have a genuine windows 7 ultimate and microsoft security essential and it is updated and i scanned it and found nothing . btw there is something more , few hours ago there was 94.8 GB free , i installed a game in another drive and i removed it after 2-3 minutes coz i didn't liked it , so after un installing the game i saw there there was 93.4 GB left in my c drive again , i removed files from the temp folder but nothing happened and now there is just 92.9 gb left ! what is happening ! i am really freaked out now
I had installed ubuntu 10.10 on my lap Dell N5010 model recently, After few days i got blue screen error message then i decided to format my hard disk, with a windows 7 ultimate version which i got through internet. then i thought to format the system completely so while installing i went to advanced disk options and deleted all drives when i did this the drive which has name primary is detected after installation. the drivers which are under category of logical are not getting displayed in my computer and also in partition manager it is showing as unusable space.
My C drive is showing that i have 1.6 GB of empty space. But when see the the contents by opening C drive and selecting everything and doing a space check i see only 86 GB of space taken up. My C partition is 100 GB and I have my page files are on a different drive. So pagefile.sys cannot be a problem, could it?
C drive is showing "space free 1.49GB of 19.5GB" whereas when I'm selecting all the files inside C drive its showing 16.7GB on disk. So C drive has 2.8GB free, But showing only 1.47GB free. Where is the space allocated?
Last night I noticed it had turned the bar to red, and said I had only 12 GB left of 135 GB. Im not into video, music, games or anything else I know of that would use that much space. I surf the web, and keep some scanned and some text documents. A few months ago I carefully installed Windows 7, instead of Vista which my PC came with. No problems. I just now deleted the old Windows stuff, and that freed up 47 GB, so thats good. I suspect that my hard drive was partitioned during that installation of Windows 7, and I dont know that that is necessary. Can that be undone?
I have a HP Pavilion g series laptop. There is a little box that pops up and says "HP Tools drive e is running out of space click here to see if you can free up some space". My recycle bin is empty. When I click on the box its shows me drive e. Drive E mostly consists of a folder name Hewlett Packard that has a bunch of **** in it that I cant even open.
I have a windows 7 system having a c drive partition of 52 GB. It shows 7 GB free disk space but all the folders(including hidden files n folders) on the drive total upto 27 GB. Plus i guess that my disk space is decreasing regularly. So wheres my missing 18 GB?
i bought a samsung 1000 gb hdd. model:HD103SJ (1000GB/7200rpm/32M) it was my primary hdd. when i bought it, had 938GB total space.I formatted n partitioned it couple times... last time when i broke all partition then it showed total 931.
I just checked my C: Drive for usage and it says that I am using 351 GB. I have 331 GB left, but I am curious as to where the usage of that amount of hard drive space is coming from. I hardly have any programs because of the clean reinstall and the current program sizes are no where near that capacity. The videos and pictures I transferred over combined it about 50 GB. Where is the rest of my disk space? I would like to clean my hard drive as much as possible. Restore points are also limited to using 10 GB as max. I have run CCleaner and Puran Defrag at least twice.
After installing Windows 7 on my PC all my hard disks(4) are display as removable disks in the icon of safely remove hardware on the taskbar. Is it related with enabling ACHI mode on my system?
I know about the immediate 'loss' of disk space owing to the two different methods of measurement. 1Tb to 931Gb - it's annoying, but I'm used to it.No, before a defrag by Fixbee I had 701Gb free, afterwards - in a matter of 2 hours - I had 537Gb. Obviously, I'm not going to use this product again, where a clean-up is obviosly a 'dirt up', but how do I undo the damage that it's caused - especially if it's not the only 'clean up' tool that might do this?
my external HDD file system before was FAT32, now i made it to NTFS using the "convert X: /fs:NTFS" command...after that, i think my HDD's "used space" went up, what could be possible problems..i used the convert command because my files in external HDD was worth more than 200gb+, so it would take long time.
How to force format a flash drive? I have an 8gb flash drive and I plugged it in to a speaker that plays mp3 songs. But after unplugged it, my flash drive prompts "Please insert disk" and 0mb in my computer. I tried to view it with disk management and I saw its partition type was RAW.
Warning: the following descriptions involve time travel - you may or may not go cross-eyed. This gets complicated, so follow closely.Windows (7, 64bit, build 7600) Explorer is showing a -6 hour difference in time from my actual file date. This is NOT simply the time difference between my computer (in Central time zone) and the server (on Eastern time). Explorer is ignoring the server's time stamp and subtracting exactly 6 hours from the time of the what the server should say. I know this because I'm also looking at the exact same folder and files using XP and the time stamps are exactly as they should be. I modified a file locally (on Windows 7) and copied it up to the server. The time stamp local is 9:36a. The time stamp on the server should be 10:36a, but instead it says 4:36a. So, I copied a file from the server back to here and it reports locally 6 hours later (10:38a) than what is on the server (4:38a). Looking at the exact same files through explorer on XP shows that the time should have been 10:38a.
If it wasn't for time showing correctly on XP, I'd assume it was a problem at the server, but there seems to be something in either the display of time, or in the way it sends the file's time-stamp.And now I'm testing it on another ftp server, which I think has their time set to UTC (my 10:00a is their 4:00p). Using XP, I create a brand new file locally, and transmit it to this server. It initially appears with the same timestamp as the original file (10:16a). I then do a refresh of the server list (in XP) and it jumps forward 6 hours (4:16p). I look at this server with Windows 7 and it shows that the file has a timestamp of 10:16a. So I copy that file (using Windows 7) to its local drive and it tells me that the timestamp is 4:16p (later today).
So I have a Atheros 9285 wireless card in my laptop, but now for like 3 months it keeps saying that I'm not connected to a network while in fact I am connected to my wifi network.I can browse the internet and all that but I can't use my homegroup.. was wondering if you guy's had a solution for me...Things that i've tried already:1. Updating/renewing my drivers.. Removing vwififlt.sys.3. Replacing vwififlt.sys4. ebooting my computer.5. Connect to a different network.
So I have a new computer and everything was running fine. But the next day I open my "uninstall a program" and it's saying outlandish sizes of things. I have the game Oblivion and it's not saying there is a size while as Network Magic is 32.6 GB which is HUGELY wrong for it's only a couple of MB. registrey key and stuff because I dont know how to access this. So, I restarted computer and everything but it's still wrong.
I bought this computer and it has Nvidia GeForce GT540m graphics card (i thinks its optimus)but on dxdiag>display it says intel HD graphics family.. wtf?I don't know what is with it but do I not have Nvidia?PS: on some games such a skyrim and oblivion it detected my computer and said i have Nvidia gefore gt540m but I wonder why it doesn't show up on dxdiag as 540 but as intel HD
I don't know why this is happening. But all the files in my C partition(including WINDOWS files) take up only about 16.0 GB of space. But for some reason, it shows that 20GB Space is being used. So where did my 4GB Go?
I have completed my new build: i5-2500k, 8 GB RAM and a 64 GB SSD (Crucial M4).I want to install Win 7 Pro 64-bit on a partition on the SSD. I know the Win 7 64 specs say you need at least 20 GB of disk space to install. I figure I will reduce the page file to 1 GB and eliminate the hibernation file. If I do that, how much space will i need on the SSD partition?
I'm trying to upgrade from vista Home Premium to 7 Home Premium (32-bit). I keep getting error 'not enough disk space to store temporary files . . .' I checked at the MS site and find you need 16GB to do the upgrade and I have over 105GB! Is there something I'm missing?
it contains only 1 system drive c which is 575 gb capacity and other system, hp tool, recovery and all are basi partioni shrunk C into two now i have 291 c and 283 unallocated but i cant make it or convert it into drive as it only allows dynaic drive which will make system unstable or may be i can't reboottell me the solution to use unallocated disk space so that i can use it as a backup
I have PC running Win 7 64bit OS, Some time back i have installed VMware and allocated around 70GB. I have uninstalled the VMware software, but it did not release the disk space. I ran spacesniffer and it is showing this space as Unknow. How can i reclaim this space.
I have a system which installed some boot files (i.e. Boot manager, Memory Tester and Windows Legacy OS loader) on the lowest numbered drive D: (the rest of course on C: which is the RAID partition where I want everything). I now know I should have disconnected the "D:" drive when I set the RAID up.
Anyone know of a sure-fire way of moving these files over without risk from D: to C: and then I can demote D: and remove the drive?
After installing a skin pack from called simplfy,I used a restore point that i created before installing the skin pack ill call it restore point A. i installed the skin pack again and then used system restore to restore to the same point (restore point A) without undoing the last restore which was restore point A. Earlier this morning I tried to save a text file and it said disk space was low.I know that wasn't correct a text file shouldnt exceed 14.75gb.So I checked the disk and it said 0 kb free. Restarted Computer opened defraggler (I didnt do anything with defragler I only used it to look at the graph) and ccleaner (I ran the file cleaner and the registry cleaner which cleared only 299mb) and I noticed that the space was returning back to normal at about 150 mb/sec. After about 6 hours the problem returned and now I'm posting this.

My computer keeps saying it is running out of room on C drive. I don't feel like I have that much stuff on my computer. And I feel like seeing as it is a relatively new computer I shouldn't be having this problem. is there an easier way to clean out my computer then to go through every file, every picture, every song to decided if I should delete it or not?
