i was running Slitaz Linux (before that Lubuntu) and swapped to Windows 7. computer runs pretty slow, and says i need more disk space. as far as i know i have 2 hard drives installed Seagate ST340810A ATA DEVICE (MASTER) and Quantum Fireball EX6.4A ATA Device (SLAVE) My question is which is bigger? is it possible i installed windows 7 on the smaller one and its not allowing other drive to read? how can I fix this?
this is a problem which I have not been able to research a solution for so far, so seems pretty unusual. All my desktop icons are swapped around so the titles of the programs are correct but the image associated with it is from another application.I have already run an AVG virus scan and found nothing, and restarted the computer aswell. I got nothing else?
I am running Windows 7 on a Dell XPS L502X. The only modification I have made to it is swapping out the spindle hard drive for a SSD (Crucial Technology 128 GBl RealSSD C300 Series). I have had this computer almost a year and it works very well except for the fact once every few days it will completely freeze. I will be able to move my mouse, but nothing is clickable and all the programs I had open will just stay up, not doing anything. The only way I am able to get out of it is by hitting ctrl+alt+delete and waiting for the option screen to come up (Lock computer, change password, Task Manager, etc.). Once that happens, I just click cancel, and then everything is working perfectly again, without any programs crashing.
Also, here is a hardware/software snapshot of my computer: [URL].
ive swapped my hard drive to another computer and its coming up with boot failure, please insert disk and press enter. ive changed bios boot settings and everything but its still coming up with this message
I just allocated more space to my system restore to ensure that when i back up files/docs there will be sufficient space. But does the allocated space for system restore affect at all how much space is allocated for backup? If not, i will would like to turn back down the allocated space for the restore.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Service Pack 1 Computer is ASUS laptop 4 gb of ram 64 bit system
i want to add space to my USB drive which is only 480mb and I went to Disk Management and sliced some space off my Hard drive to put onto the USB but when I right click on it the option 'extend' is blanked out! By the way I want to add space, not overwrite but if that what it takes then I will do it: [URL]
I originally had the free space as a D: Drive but decided to reallocate the space used back onto C:. I have gotten this far but am unsure how to continue because the extend drive option for C: is grayed out. I believe this is because the space which used to be D: is still shown as an extended partition. I have a Samsung RC512 with an Intel Core i7 Quad core processor and Windows 7 Home Premium.

My computer keeps saying it is running out of room on C drive. I don't feel like I have that much stuff on my computer. And I feel like seeing as it is a relatively new computer I shouldn't be having this problem. is there an easier way to clean out my computer then to go through every file, every picture, every song to decided if I should delete it or not?
My sister sent our PC to her friend to have Windows 7 put on it and now the C: drive is almost maxed out. I don't know if it was that way before it was sent out or not, but it's definitely closer to the max than i would like it to be. I was able to clear about 30gb of space so now there's about 45gb worth of free space out of 143gb total. I have absolutely NO clue what is taking up so much space. Any help to get that number down would be great. We don't have an exorbitant amount of movies, pictures or music files on the computer either. So i'm really lost as to where it could be coming from.
I have a large internal D: drive that I would like to transfer most of the programs to, from the c: drive. And make D: drive the default programs drive?
I have an out of the box 120 gig Intel SSD which is saying I currently have 57.9 GB free of 96.6 GB. (I can account for what space I have used, this is not the problem). The problems is that while I understand the drive will have some space reduction meaning not all 120 GB is useable but 23.4 GB is a bit much, no??
I'm having a little problem with my SSD. It's a Corsair Force 3 120GB. With the starting loss of 9GB it's a 111GB SSD. When I click computer from the start menu to view the available disk space it says 44GB. This dropped from 58GB to 44GB today without me installing/changing anything. Also, if I go into the SSD, and make sure view all hidden files and folders is on, if I add up all the space used it is 58GB, 111-58=53 so surely I should have 53GB left?
I have windows 7 home basic system, i hav 76% i.e. around 350GB free space in my c drive. But when i go for partition and click on shrink volume it shows only 40mb available. Before 1day it was showing 0 space available.
I've inherited my son's Asus eee. Great little machine for lugging around, but sloooow. I only need to have windows word and power point on it. With those two and avg, I only have 14 gb of 30 free.
I can't believe that this os and two programs should consume that much space. If so, what do people use these machines for?
I am using a laptop that has a SSD. My pc says it has a total of 95.3 GB of space. And it says that 8.3 GB is free. But when I select all the folders in my SSD, the computer says it is only using 60.3 GB of space. I am wondering what happened to the 35 GB of space. I'm not running any other program other than chrome at this point. So I don't think any programs are hogging the space. (Other than the OS and other minor programs, razer synapse, steam etc.)
My system is continuously losing space, down to the last megabyte, even without using it. I've tried deleting all but my last system restore point, and even so, that only uses up 15% so I'm told. I've deleted all unnecessary programs down to the bare essential stuff, I've cleared internet history/cookies often, I've deleted gig after gig of my music until it was gone, and I have virus protection software that hasn't brought up anything major. It's not going away in chunks, just megabytes at a time. I've done everything online I can find, and nothing stopped it, what's happening here?
My computer keeps telling me I am low on disk space. I ran the Drive space manager. It says I have 16.4 gb of webfiles on my computer. How do I get rid of these?
For a long time I was wondering why I had so little space on my hard drive when I had hardly used it. Finally, today I ran SpaceSniffer and found that there was some 58gb of unknown space that it couldn't identify. So then I used TreeSize to find where all that space was and it showed me a txt file called "Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Setup_20120621_230001924-MSI_netfx_Core_x64.msi.txt" that was about 60gb in size! Does anyone know what this file is for and why it's so large? Can I just delete it? It's in my Windows temp folder and I don't think I would have found it unless I had used TreeSize as admin because I searched for large files before and never came up with anything
Digging around i found a wopping 54GB of missing space in here Microsoft>Windows>Tempory Internet FilesBut the biggest file in there (with protected system files showing) is a 55KB jpeg. Everything else seems to be icons from my Favourites folder and a few docs.
I don't know why this is happening. But all the files in my C partition(including WINDOWS files) take up only about 16.0 GB of space. But for some reason, it shows that 20GB Space is being used. So where did my 4GB Go?
i have recently ran out room on my D drive. its 122gb and i can only account for around 11gb.this drive has the 'windows backup' located in it. im thinking that these flies are using all my space (or hidden files)is there any way 2 free up space and/or get rid of the backups?
I have a recent Win764 build less than 6 months old, seems to have a virus or something that is making the hard drive space dissapear. The accual contents are 36GB out of 300GB. The computer will display that there is only 3.75GB left out of 300GB. I ran windirstat and tree and it gives me the correct allocation of data. The data matches what is supposed to be on this drive, there is no random file that is taking up 275GB. Leads me to believe that its a Virus, and cannot find to much on the subject
I have a Lenovo G580 - It comes with it's own OneKey Recovery system which doesn't work. But neither does Windows 7 recovery. When I try to back it up, it does but then it stops half way and says there is not enough space in the D drive to back-up. So I went into Disk Management and saw that it was limited to 25GB - So I tried to extend the volume but it has been greyed out so I cannot select it. What can I do? I can't back it up or anything! I also had an error message which is the above: 0x80780048
1. I have a 500 gb HD C and using a empty 2 TB external Drive, it gets to a point (different each time) stops and says nt enough space.
2. This stopping of backking up is annoying in itself. So I hit to restart back up and instead of it continuing whare it left of from the other BU it begins a whole new Bakup. This Time I have 2003 zipped files while the last 2 times I had like 316 on one and 988 on another.
Is this just win 7 and its back ups? I have 2 other programs I can use Nero back up and Mameo, should I reformat disk and try one o them?
About 1 week from today, I installed my copy of Windows 7. I had 92.7 GB free of 123 GB by the end of the day after downloading/installing all of the programs I needed. (I'm ocd so I keep track of how much space I have in my (C) Drive after every download/install.So the next morning I turn my laptop on. What?! I suddenly have 90.8 GB free of 123 GB on my (C) Drive?!Now I'm sitting here a week later down to 88.9 GB free of 123 GB in my (C) Drive.Besides downloading/installing the things I needed, I also did Disk Cleanups where I got rid of of my Windows.old files (XP and Vista). I've also deleted all of my System Restore and Shadow Copies in the More Options tab. Could that be the reason why?
