Linksys WMP110 Work On My Friend Computer But Not Mine
Nov 29, 2009I have a linksys WMP110 running on a gigabyte M55SLIS4 motherboard every time i try to connect to a wireless connection with the card the OS reboots, But i took the card and installed it on my friend mother running the same release of windows 7 and it worked completely fine no reboot not at all and he ran it for more than a week .
So can some help me out here probably tell me what they need to see why it reboots
Gateway Icon Not Mine
Oct 13, 2011I had problems accessing the internet through laptop last evening. I noted that another network was active. When I went to Network and Sharing Center and clicked on network icon our home computers were shown but the other active network's gateway showed up. I was able to click on its properties and see its mac address etc. I called my provider and their tech section is looking into it. I have an admin password and running encryptation with a password key on my 2 wrie gateway. Does anyone have an idea as to what could be the cause of the other home network gateway showing up in our home network?

Feb 10, 2012I have 4GB of RAM and it uses maybe half a gig. I use an extensive amount of mods and I know that it'll lag the game and cause it to crash. After doing some research I've seen some people allocating more memory to minecraft by creating a .bat file and inserting this coding (assuming I am using the correct words. Feel free to correct me):java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar "C:UsersAdrianDesktopMinecraft.exe" when i run it, I can only get it to run up to 1524. anything further and it says in CMD:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Could not create the Java virtual machine.
USB Flash Drive Works In Other PC's, Just Not In Mine
Jan 15, 2013I have a flash drive. It works great in ANY PC except mine - It picks up the USB drive but shows it as if it has a raw file format - cannot open the flash drive but it shows up on my comp. Now you might think my PC it the problem, which it probably is, but all other USB hardware (including OTHER flash drives) works fine on my PC. Why does my PC not detect it properly?

Aug 20, 2011As you increase the number of processors the performance improvement diminishes compared with the expected result -- for instance a system with 8 processors won't perform 8 times faster than a system with one processor due to the ovehead of managing the extra complexity of the interaction of all the processors. (Note the system will still be FAST of course !!).
Now wouldn't it be better to design say 128 and 256 bit architectures in the OS so you could still run many tasks concurrently but without the overhead of the multi processor environment - or at least have far less processors in the MP environment.
it was rumoured a while back that Windows 8 would have some 128 bit possibility -- I don't think there are any commercially available chips yet but thats only a matter of time.
Limit Thumbnail Generation To Pictures Only?
Aug 2, 2011i like many others have the problem of all thumbnails being spontaneously deleted every other day or so , and all the 250mb worth of thumbnails being slowly generated again only to be deleted..which is a major inconvenience since my processor is comparatively slow and videos take time for thumbnails to be generated.i found that the deny permission for the explorer folder where the thumbnails are stored does indeed work, however i noticed that while i have this workaround enabled, windows aero starts lagging (the scrolling of explorer pages, even firefox pages, and any graphical effects start occurring in short jerky steps) which i again hate. as soon as i removed those deny permissions (and the thumbnails spontaneously deleted) i haven't encountered that aero lag...so its not my graphics card or driver.i have currently disabled all thumbnail generation, folder browsing is behaving very fast but it just doesn't look good for pictures...for the videos its livable with.so any way i could limit thumbnail generation to pictures files only?

Apr 15, 2012The issue here is all my programs would freeze and I was like wth is going on? So after it happened a couple of times, I finally figured out what was going on. The system was using cpu power ranging from 20 to 50 percent and my ram was using roughly 20 to 32 percent. The weird thing about this is my computer cpu usually is around 2-5 percent and ram is around 5-12 percent when doing normal day activities.I have a vortex 120 gb and I have it updated to the latest software. My hypothesis is that there is a system defragging working in the background because I see my hard drive space going up and down. It'll go down 20gb and go back up. Sometimes goes down a lot sometimes not that much.I have three programs and I've tried closing all three.
Bitdefender-no auto defrag Iobit advance system care- I turned auto defrag off but even it the settings it's already checkmark not to defrag ssd tuneuputilites- turned off auto defrag also and same thing as earlier, there's already a checkmark to not defrag ssd
edit(forgot to mention that I turned system auto defrag off also)I ran antivirus scan and malware scan already with no luck.So here's where the big mystery comes into play. Even though there is cpu usage and ram usage when I go to windows task manager, I can't find anything that shows it's using ram and cpu even though it is.Very annoying with everything freezing. Even if I restart it still continues.
