View 13 RepliesI have Windows 7, HPrem, 32 bit, SP1 OS installed on an Intel D975XBX2 MoBo. The MoBo is beginning to fail. Intel no longer maintains or updates D975XBX2. I have ordered a new Intel MoBo D67BG. I want to reinstall my existing Windows 7 OS on the new MoBo. I have the key for the OS presently instlled on the failing D975XBX2.Will Microsoft allow me to install my existing OS on the new MoBo or will Microsoft require me to buy a new license? If Microsoft will allow me to transfer my existing OS to the new MoBo, what department (telephone number?) will I need to reach the right person/department?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI found an interesting article that I thought was worth sharing. I have always been bugged when reading that 32bit operating systems were limited to 4Gb of memory because of the way memory is addressed. It never made any sense to me because when I took Windows XP classes it had a nice little table covering different versions of Windows in the back which showed certain 32bit versions allowing up to 128Gb of memory to be recognized. The book was written for taking Microsoft exams to earn a certification in XP and I also had another book of the same type for Server 03 again with the same table in the back. So if Microsoft is saying that 32bit is not limited to 4Gb why are people trying to say that the limit is because 32bit is not capable of addressing it?Because the standard 32bit home desktop versions of Windows are not licensed to allow more than 4Gb. The only reason you are limited is because Microsoft wrote the OS to limit you not because 32bit cannot address memory above 4Gb.

They made it so the C: drive is around 58GB, and the D: is the other GBs which add up to 500GB. She is practically out of room on her C: and the computer is almost unusable. I already deleted the D: partition, but the partition manager in Windows 7 won't let me extend the partition to fill up all of the space. The option to extend it is just grayed out.

I have looked at the tutorial posted in the tutorials, and its as simple as right-clicking the partition and clicking 'Extend Volume'. Well the problem is that no matter what I try, this option is always grayed out. Whenever I right-click any of my partitions, all of the options are available except for 'Extend Volume'. Am I missing a step here, or am I not doing something right?

I just installed a fresh new copy of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit to my newly bought free dos computer yesterday. Later I installed my motherboard drivers, monitor drivers and optical disk drivers. I also installed CC cleaner.
Now I am trying to partition my 500GB Hardisk. The C: drive is around 465GB so I want to reduce C: to 150GB (OS+Programs/Software) and make another D: drive which will have the rest 315GB (Personal files + games).
The problem now is there is a limit in the shrink volume amount. And this limit i quite big. It only lets me reduce the C: drive to 243GB. Here is the Screenshot:
I tried disabling Shadows Copy, Paging File, Hibernation and System Restore but its still the same. I also tried defragging using the default windows defragger but nothing worked.

I got a nzxt iuo1 usb expansion hub to open up some of my usb ports for future use. I don't know if this could be causing the problem because the hub itself draws its power from a psu molex header. However, I have come across a speed bump while doing this. After deleting my unused partition which was 450GB, and right clicked on the C drive to extend, but the extend option is greyed out. The shrink volume seems to be clickable though.
