View 0 Repliesi came across this a little while ago:[URL] it says if i run that command Windows7 evaluation period will be extended by 30 days each time it's done. however, when i do it it only extends for 3 days. is there any way to make it last longer or has it changed?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 questions, I have a windows 7 enterprise in 90 days trial that's about to expire in 3 weeks, I'm not really sure what's best to do next as this is my first time to have a trial period with an OS. now my questions are:
1. should I install a new windows 7 version (home, professional, or whatever) and if I do that do will I still have my files, settings etc. on my computer?
2. is there an easy way to just continue with my windows 7 enterprise like I'll just enter a product key or something or do I really need to purchase a new one?
i'm trialling out Win7 Ultimate on a machine here that i'm thinking of upgrading to win7. the only problem is, it only lasts 3 days and when i do the re-arm trick it only lengthens it by another 3 days? this is the trick i've been using and they say it lasts 120 days? [URL]
i need more than just 9 days to test out win7 fully before i make the upgrade move on this machine.
I purchased my Windows 7 Pro and installed it, thinking that I would activate it later, then didn't use the computer for some time. Now, when I attempt to activate, I'm told that my key has been blocked. The only solution I'm being offered is to purchase another key.

My laptop says that the windows activation period expired and asks me for a activation code. Well, i did a little research and found a way to see how many days remaining left for the activation. When i saw it in the control panel, it says that my windows is activated and even shows the activation key! My desktop is still black and it still prompts me that it is still not active.

I cannot get access to the network period, even though the computer has a valid IP configuration via DHCP.The strange thing is that Windows 7 says that it has internet access up until the point I try to access the network or internet with any application. IE causes a loss in connection, Firefox, Windows Updates, etc.So I have tried this so far at the command prompt to no avail.netsh int ip resetandnetsh winsock resetWhat do you all think? I am thinking that a reinstall of Windows is needed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had a Dell Laptop (l502x) with Windows 7 Premium 64 Bit for almost a year now. It's a great thing, except for one thing: i get about 1 BSOD every 1-2 days.As it happens only once every other day, i almost got used to it, but now it's starting to get on my nerves and I'm wondering what is causing it, as they are totally random. On the Dell support website they told me to try the Windows Debugging Tool, which then showed me it had to do with wwussf64.sys. According to some dubious 'anti-virus' sites on the internet this was linked to some Ericsson software, although i don't have any.Might be interesting to know, when they delivered the laptop in 2011, the backlit keyboard was not working, and they had to replace the keyboard and motherboard twice to get it working.

I have this problem with Windows and it's getting really annoying. At first I thought it only happened when recovering from sleep mode but I have since been proved wrong. I have gone into Power Options and set my laptop to never go into sleep, never dim the screen and never turn off the display. I then went into advanced power settings and set the hard drive to never turn off. I have since realised that Windows 7 will only freeze after a period of inactivity whether there is an open program or not.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm hoping someone could give me some pointers on how to go about investigating my PC switching itself off after approximately 10 minutes of inactivity (not sleeping, as Windows is configured to do after 30 mins). The PC is used as a media centre with xbmc running as the frontend. If I leave the computer unattended whilst in XBMC. the computer will switch off after approximately 10 mins. I haven't (yet) checked if it happens outside of XBMC, though I suspect it will. The eventviewer shows: The previous system shutdown at <time> on <date> was unexpected. But nothing else of significance. The reason I'm convinced this is software related is because the shutdown always occurs around about 10 mins after leaving the PC alone, with no input. I havent timed it precisely, but will do so when I next get a chance. If I am using the PC in any way, or watching a film, it does *not* shutdown. There are no errors apart from that in the eventviewer log - i.e. no boot menu when you power back on to recommend safe mode, no message on starting windows to say it shutdown unexpectedly. I havent actually observed the shutdown myself yet, so Im not sure if there is a bluescreen or not.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a rig I use occasionally, as HTPC and occasional mule work, file service, etc.I would like to not have it simply sleep when I have left it running and not returned, but rather have it shutdown properly. Is there a way to do this within Windows 7 controls, or is there an aftermarket, shareware, or scripting way to do so?
View 7 Replies View Relatedrecently i have received 2 bsod. yesterday when i was playing dota 2(with itunes in background), and today when i was just browsing the internet and listening to Internet. i am reasonably sure that this is coming from a driver issue(not video drivers, i have tested several of those and the problem persist) since i have tested my computer several times with prime 95, memtest86 with no errors/issues.i also reformatted my computer less then a month ago because of this very same problem, i couldn't figure out which driver was causing my computer to crash, and was problem free for nearly 2 1/2 weeks, up in till a few days ago.in the days before the bsod i installed 3 things. daemon tools lite and fraps and windows updates. i have since uninstalled both programs.last thing as well is i have a separate hard drive where i keep several installed files on and store various videos/music/etc, i don't know if this is relevant or not.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor the past 4 or 5 months I almost never turned my PC off, only restarted the system from time to time if it seemed a bit clogged or slow. Six days ago I went out of the house for the holiday so I had to turn off the computer (shut down). I did that by going to the main orb in win 7 and by selecting "shut down".Today I returned from the holiday and when I turned on the PC, I noticed that it boots EXTREMELY slowly, especially after it asks for my admin password. Also all the programs work extremely slowly (not only the boot sequence). It looks as if there is some resident program that sucks all the resources but I don't see it in the task manager. The current CPU usage is about 5% and there is about 2 MB free physical RAM.If I now start Chrome it will show up only after 5 minutes or so, or it may freeze the system completely. Even Notepad takes about 1 minute to show up after being selected. Several times I couldn't even bring up the task manager (I got the message "Windows can't initialize security tasks..." or something like that).I just did a system restore to a date when I remember that my PC definitely worked well (about 10 days ago), but I am still having the same problems. It also seems as if the program that controls the speed of the fans inside the PC is not working properly and right now I hear almost no noise from the fans. While I did a system restore from the Windows Safe mode the fans worked properly.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo since the other day, Add And Remove programs has given me some trouble. Basically, when I went to the start Menu to work it, it didn't open up until I made a shortcut for the Desktop. And then it gave me the message that in all programs, to be blunt it couldn't find it- while I can't access it now, it said it couldn't find the program and asked me if I wanted to Admin Remove it from the list- this did nothing. And now, again, it doesn't work period. I've tried a system restore, but going back the farthest I can, it still doesn't work. Is it possible to completely reinstall Add And Remove Programs, or somehow fix it?

It would appear I have the correct settings set given the scenario. I've done the obvious.. Set BIOS and Windows settings correctly to my knowledge. I'm lost as to why I can't get it to wake up on wan after while.
Why does my screen sometimes goes blank after a period of inactivity ( like 8 hours )? And sometimes not!. My monitor screen just turns off ( yellow light ). Then i just turn my mouse and screen goes back to normal. ITS TOTALLY RANDOM!

So I have 30Gigs on my Windows 7 Partition, which was fine for a while, but I want to use Windows 7 more extensively now so I wanted to extend my partition. I have looked at the tutorial posted in the tutorials, and its as simple as right-clicking the partition and clicking 'Extend Volume'. Well the problem is that no matter what I try, this option is always grayed out. Whenever I right-click any of my partitions, all of the options are available except for 'Extend Volume'. Am I missing a step here, or am I not doing something right?

This happened for months. Eventually, after replacing every other piece of hardware and updating all drivers, swapped out the SSD (copied the image to an older WD 250GB drive).I have run 17 days without a crash.I have run every health check I can on the SSD, but no errors.

My computer has currently Vista 32 home premium and found recently unknown directory on c:. That directory was locked when I tried to remove manually, and computer turned off if I tried to unlock using unlocker. The OS on my computer is OEM, I don't have CD, and I decided to install window 7 trial version until it comes on market. Can you tell me where can I get the trial version and can I do clean install with trial version?
