View 5 RepliesIt seems i have narrowed down my issue that I have been dealing with for it seems like months now. Well essentially my system will reboot anytime it sits for an extended period of time (about 15 to 20 Minutes). My computer will go into standby mode. I do have it set for my computer to never sleep but only my screens. I have followed the BSOD instructions and do and those to attach to this post. Here is the additional information regarding this problem... Is Windows 7 . . . - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? - x64 - the original installed OS on the system? Yes - an OEM or full retail version?Full retail version - What is the age of system (hardware)? Eh, varies video cards about a year old, memory and hardrives are about the same length of time. Chip is fairly new within a few months. - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) OS was freshly reinstalled on 11/17/2011. All drivers for all pieces of hardware in my machine have had the newest drivers updated, including my video cards. I have also done the BIOS update for both of my video cards available from Palit. Oddly enough i can play Starcraft II for hours and no issue with rebooting... only when it sits for an extended period of time as mentioned earlier.

My computer gets at least ONCE BSOD every time I turn it on after a long period of shutdown. It also sometimes randomly just shuts off or give me additional BSODs. It has got to the point that I can't even load to windows recently, which lead me to reformat my computer. I know the drivers here are not the latest ones, I am trying to use only the drivers from the CDs that came with the hardwares because the last time I used all the latest ones it still caused BSODs. I am not sure what other information I need to post up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been running Win7 64-bit for 2 years. My boot drive is an Intel SSD. Win7 used to load very quickly. It would come up with the Windows logo and quickly flick to the login screen. Boot Performance tracked in Event Viewer - Application and Services - Microsoft - Windows - Diagnostics Performance, perational would generally report 45 seconds or so. Recently, for no reason I can yet discern, that has jumped to 218 seconds. I have looked for 101 Event IDs (application boot performance), there are a few listed, but usually with very small footprints (degradation of 300 ms). Nothing which explains the 3 additional minutes. When the OS boot now, it comes up to the Windows splash screen, and as the 4 colours are coming together, it hangs. At first I thought there was something seriously wrong, so I restarted via the power switch, and ran Startup Repair. It ran, but boot was the same. After a few more power button restarts, thinking I had a very serious problem, I sat there stumped and..... it eventually booted! The 4 colours eventually started moving again, and the system booted. That is what I experience every time now. There is roughly a 3 min pause during the boot sequence, then it proceeds as normal.Things I have tried, Updated to latest Nvidia chipset and GPU drivers.Have almost nothing in Startup when Running MSConfig,Ran Intel's SSD tool. Reports everything A-OK. Made Boot Sequence "Hard Drive" only so it doesn't search for CD drive. Ran Windows Update to ensure all latest critical patches installed (for all I know, this caused it).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI built this Windows 7 machine last year on an msi p55-gd80 motherboard with an i5-750 cpu. It would sleep fine and come out of sleep fine. Then I upgraded to a gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3 motherboard with an i7-2600k cpu. In doing the upgrade, all I did was boot the new hardware using the old hard drive, and then ran the new motherboard install dvd. Everything worked from the get go just as it had on the old machine, with one exception. Now, when coming out of sleep, I usually get a bsod. I assume this is driver related, but am not sure how to proceed as device manager looks fine and apart from coming out of sleep, the machine is perfect.

Basically, my problem is that randomly next to EVERYTHING will stop responding for about five minutes, except the lower profile applications such as teamspeak and mIRC, and its been happening since july. Then, it will work again for a bit and then it will happen again. I got windows 7 home premium 64 bit.
When it first started, it would freeze so bad that it would BSOD, but that has not happened recently, however sometimes even TS and mIRC won't respond, and you can't open any new programs up while its in this cycle plus 99% of the time explorer.exe stops responding as well. We think the problem started happening when we did the windows updates, we didn't do all of them but we did the majority of them at that time, but it may of just been a coincidence. It will happen basically no matter what i got open, if its just Fire Fox or if i got FireFox, WoW, Diablo 2, TS, mIRC all open.
I just recently upgraded to service pack 1, and the problem still occurs. I've ran CCleaner, malwarebyes, anti virus, and all came up with little to no malicious activity
My computer began freezing when I close the internet. Mouse moves but when I click on icon nothing happens. I can use ctrl, alt, del to bring up logon/off window. When I log off and back on I can regain use of all programs.I am running Windows 7,and using IE9,with 6 gig ram. I t seems to have slowly began when I uninstalled Firefox about 2 weeks ago. It was too unstable. This issue was happening just a few times but has now progressed to each time I leave the internet
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I had an issue with our windows 2000 server and took it off the network. Won't get into that right now. I ended up just setting up a workgroup for the time being until something can be done about the server. Three computers running windows 7 were pulled from the domain and put on the workgroup with no difference to the user profile. The desktop and all local data stayed the same. But for the 4th computer when it left the domain and restarted it had a new local profile and has a new desktop with all the data from the domain profile gone. My question: is it possible to either get a copy of the data from the domain profile, which I don't see under user accounts and can't switch to it as a different user, or to do a system restore to before leaving the domain then copy the data? The biggest issue is the loss of the pst file and a few files on the desktop that were not backed up recently. Is there anything I can do to get that data?
View 5 Replies View RelatedOver the past several days my HP Windows 7, 64 bit, Home Premium PC has developed a freeze problem! After rebooting by pushing the button, it functions quite normally for anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple of hours. Then, without warning, one of several things happens, each resulting in a freeze. And in all cases I have to reboot by pushing the button.
* The desktop icons disappear, leaving only the wallpaper.
* The cursor disappears or freezes in place and nothing can be done.
* I will be working in a browser or in a MS Word document and it will grow faint and when I click I get the prompt that the program is not responding, then I am unable to do anything even though the cursor works. I can't close anything, open anything or reboot.
I have researched the issue, but it is so broad a problem, I don't have a clue where to go to research it.I have checked that no sleep mode is on. I have turned off all screen savers.I have disabled a good number of startup programs, including uninstalling several potential offenders.I have run cleanup programs such as CCleaner, etc. I have defragged.I ran scannow on my command prompt. No system errors were detected.I have run several spyware programs, but the problem persists. My hunch is that there is some program conflict or perhaps the browser is the problem. [code]
I have a number of new Window 7 laptops and have joined the company domain with no problems (SBS running Windows 2003).When I was on the domain I set up a number of printers by browsing the server mainserver\OkiC9650 and finding the printer and it and correctly installs the drivers and provides me with full functionality for the printer. However, if for some reason I have to leave and then rejoin the domain, and I don't delete the printers first, when I rejoin the domain the printers are no longer showing (as one might expect), and when I try to add them again, or add anything connected to themainserver\OkiC9650 I get an error.
It don't think it is anything to do with the printer as I can't connect to any printer in this way.Although the 0x00000006 indicates a permission problem it is not that or a setting problem as it works the first time and no changes are made other than leaving and rejoining the domain. It happens with four laptops, two different makes, and three different models.I don't think it is a Server problem as I have tried leaving the domain, and deleting the Computer name from the Active Directory, and even tried giving the joining computer a different name between leaving and joining. I was hoping if it was recognised as a new computer it would work at least once - but still no good.I am therefore left with the assumption that the problem is with Windows 7, there must be some sort of reference not being cleared that results in a 'duplication' type error when I try the same action again.
If I delete the printer first, before leaving the domain, I can rejoin the domain again and setup the printer correctly, the problem is when I don't delete the printer first, I can never then connect to the printer in this way (I can connect directly to the printer if I use the printers IP address).I am convince the problem is with Windows 7 - can anyone suggest where the mainserver\ reference is being held in Windows 7, or if I am barking up the wrong tree if they could suggest what tree I should be barking at?
I personally hate the Homegroup. I would like to remove my laptop from it and was wondering if I do so will I be able to hook my computer up to my laptop?

To isolate the problem, I have only loaded the video driver,(no apps, no data) and still get BSOD's indicating a ntkrnlmp.exe cause. (Not sure if I should have loaded the chipset driver with the video)The PC even crashed in Safe mode. I have run HDtune, memory testing, and chkdsk /f. Previously I had taken the PC to a repair shop, they reloaded Windows and drivers, but it crashed as soon as I brought it home.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis has been happening shortly after I bought my PC, around 5-6 months. However, back then it seemed it only happened while playing games, certain games actually. So I reported this problem to the store, they asked me if I had my PC near a wood table or something of the sort, I said yes, and they said that could be the reason because of some whatthefuck reason I can't recall. So I took the PC to another place, and also replaced the CPU cooler meantime but turns out it's still happening. But now it's not only in games, it's anytime, I don't know what to do anymore.
I had a blue-screen today and the error was the following STOP: 0X0000003B I posted a thread about this in this forum already, I've done Memtest 86 as told by a user here but no problems were found. From what I've googled this seems to be a driver (mostly graphic's driver) related issue, I've no idea how to fix it anyway.

When booted to 7 Disk Management shows the partition of 7 as C: (Boot,Page File Crash Dump, Logical Drive) and the Vista partition as D: (System, Active Primary Partition). Now I would like to remove the Vista partition and merge that to the 7 partition. I have searched around and have read many options of doing this but I can not find a definitive way of completing this.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering what Microsoft's rationale is behind leaving the Windows Mail folder in Program Files, albeit inactive?
I've already done the "fix" to enable WM in Windows 7, but would love to know exactly why it's still lurking in the bowels of the OS in any case?
I can understand the rationale for wanting to plug Windows Live Mail, but then surely remove it altogether from the system?
I don't recall any editions overseas where it is activated, or any other editions where it is an option.
Does FAST SWITCH USER really allow this behavior? I could leave VMWare with Linux running as a server in the background, while allowing other coworkers in the office to use the computer on separate accounts?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy PC is only just a year old, and I've never had any problems with it before this. I was playing Skyrim, noticed it was flickering a bit which is unusual as I specifically set my desktop up to be a gaming set-up. I alt-tabbed to see if any processes were hogging resources, and saw that my bamboo tablet was taking a fair amount. I stopped the processes and unplugged the tablet from the USB drive only to find myself staring at a BSOD.Upon doing a system resource (safe mode wouldn't work), I then found that my drivers for my Razer BlackWidow no longer worked, and upon re-installing, still didn't work. I switched to my old bog-standard USB keyboard.Since then, I've had several BSOD's happen at random. Browsing the web on Chrome, doing University work on Photoshop, even when my PC is idle.I don't want to have to replace parts just yet, so hopefully this is a software/BIOS issue. I've included the 4 dump files separately, as browser wouldn't let me select a whole .zip file.

This happens if I'm bringing it out of sleep or hibernate too, but it has to be inactive for a few hours for it to give a BSOD.

I've decided to join the forum seeking for help with this problem I'm facing on a relatively new Dell XPS 15 laptop. The machine is around 7 months old, has Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit edition installed (OEM) and has been updated to SP1. The problem first appeared when trying to backup files to an external 2 TB WD hard drive. While backing up the files, explorer.exe crashed, and my browser and iTunes crashed rapidly after, all giving some random address 0x. as the cause of failure. Around 15 seconds after this, I receive a BSOD with KERNEL_INPAGE_ERROR written at the top, and a notification at the bottom that the physical memory dump FAILED with status 0xC0000010. I thought that maybe I was straining the hard disk too much by transferring so many files at once, so I reboot the system, only to get a notification after POST that "there was a disk error, press CRTL-ALT-DEL to reboot". After doing this, the system rebooted, went into startup repair, rebooted again, and boot up normally. Ever since this ocurrence (which was a week ago) I've been getting random BSODs when doing random things on the computer, but mostly, when doing hard drive intensive operations. However, an interesting thing to note is that the subsequent BSODs did not contain the error message KERNEL_INPAGE_ERROR at the top anymore, but reported a STOP 0x0000004f at the bottom, and the same FAILED status for the physical memory dump. I tried running a chkdsk, but found no errors. I ran a DELL Memory diagnostics tool that found no errors. So I'm leaning towards a drivers issue.
