So I record music on my PC and have 2 guitar pedals and a synthesizer running to my computer via usb 2.0 to utilize their midi features. For some reason though when I have all of these devices on at once, one of the devices keeps disconnecting and reconnecting over and over again. I switched out the usb cable for the device and same thing.
I got a nzxt iuo1 usb expansion hub to open up some of my usb ports for future use. I don't know if this could be causing the problem because the hub itself draws its power from a psu molex header. I have the hub plugged into one of my motherboards usb headers. The hub has two flash drives and the front panel usb and card reader panels plugged into it.
On the back of my tower at the motherboards I/O port, I have these items plugged in through USB; mouse, keyboard, GNX4(guitar pedal), GR-55(guitar pedal), MO6(synthesizer), and an xbox 360 wireless reciever for gaming. Do I have more devices plugged in than Windows 7 can handle?
Limit On Number Of External Hard Drives
Dec 11, 2009Does Windows 7 have a limit on how many USB external hard drives it will use? We have 5 WD My Book 1TB drives; 4 of them are recognized and work just fine with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 (which we recently did a clean install of to replace Vista Home Premium 64), but the 5th one doesn't show up with a drive letter (in Computer or Windows Explorer), even though it does show up in Control Panel.
The one we are having trouble with has had the latest firmware and WD SmartWare installed, and our computer has the most current Dell BIOS installed. We know the drive works, because we can plug it into our other computer which has Windows XP on it and it comes up with a drive letter just fine. Just wondering if there's a limit on how many of these you can use with Windows 7, since we had no problem with the drive until we installed the new OS.

I'm getting the following error - "The version of this file is not compatible with the the version of windows you're running." Sep 6, 2012I just installed a fresh new copy of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit to my newly bought free dos computer yesterday. Later I installed my motherboard drivers, monitor drivers and optical disk drivers. I also installed CC cleaner.
Now I am trying to partition my 500GB Hardisk. The C: drive is around 465GB so I want to reduce C: to 150GB (OS+Programs/Software) and make another D: drive which will have the rest 315GB (Personal files + games).
The problem now is there is a limit in the shrink volume amount. And this limit i quite big. It only lets me reduce the C: drive to 243GB. Here is the Screenshot:
I tried disabling Shadows Copy, Paging File, Hibernation and System Restore but its still the same. I also tried defragging using the default windows defragger but nothing worked.

I got it all installed and the activation key wouldn't work.Long story short I got the upgrade version on accident. So I got that refunded and I'm about to just go buy Home Premium. Activate English Version With Spanish Version Key
Nov 30, 2009I am buying a new PC in Spain but want Windows 7 Home Premium in English, which does not seem to be available anywhere here. So my techie guy is downloading an English version (pirate???) and at same time buying a genuine Spanish version. He says he will then use the key code from the Spanish pack to validate the English version.
Is this possible, and could I encounter any problems later? How can I be 100% sure (before I leave the shop!) that I have a validated, genuine English version of Windows 7 that will continue to work indefinitely?

Sep 1, 2010I need to know if I can use a clean install disk for Windows 7 Ultimate to upgrade from Vista or if I have to use an Upgrade version?
I'm leaning towards buying the clean install disk so that if I should loose the hard drive at some future point I could just clean install Win 7 Ultimate from the disk without having to first install Vista and then upgrade.
Regardless of which type I purchase, am I better off to buy the OEM disk from the machine manufacturer (Toshiba) or just purchase any OEM disk? Of course, if I want Microsoft support then I need to purchase retail disks.

May 4, 2011I was stupid enough to purchase a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate full version for my computer from someone on Craigslist. This copy was brand new and sealed. I thought it was legit. I completed wiped my computer clean and installed the software. Everything went fine - until after about a month I started getting this message saying "Must Activate Computer." After talking to Microsoft, this software was legit, but it is something called a developer's copy and it blocked my activation code because I wasn't using certain features because I wasn't supposed to have a copy like this. Of course I tried contacting the person - who is now ignoring all my e-mails. In any event...I want to go purchase a legit version from a store but am not sure what I need. I can currently use my computer, but it is operating illegally from the Windows 7 Ultimate that was installed. I do not need ultimate...home premium is fine.
1) Do I need an upgrade version or a full version?
2) What can I do with this developer's copy of Ultimate? Can I sell it anywhere to someone who is allowed to use it? I"d like to get something for it to help pay for the new one.

Oct 24, 2012I am working with Windows 7 on a Dell Optiplex 755, but teh issue is with the System Volume setting. When I go to the audio mixer and do the test and configuration, the SoundMax audio level is loud and clear. The problem is with the Windows system settings somewhere, is there a limiter or cap setting in teh registry that I can set to maximum? I know that it is not the standard slide bars/levels but somewhere that Windows 7 Professional is cutting the volume on any Windows application. The drivers are fine, if I invoke the card directly it will blast the sound out. But in any application it is too soft.
