I am thinking of getting 4 AMD cpus
My rig is
ASUS Rampage iii Formula Motherboard
Intel i7 960 @ 3.2 GHz stock
Corsair H70 cooler
12GB of Corsair Dominator RAM
EVGA GTX 570 HD 2.5GB
So I record music on my PC and have 2 guitar pedals and a synthesizer running to my computer via usb 2.0 to utilize their midi features. For some reason though when I have all of these devices on at once, one of the devices keeps disconnecting and reconnecting over and over again. I switched out the usb cable for the device and same thing.
I got a nzxt iuo1 usb expansion hub to open up some of my usb ports for future use. I don't know if this could be causing the problem because the hub itself draws its power from a psu molex header. I have the hub plugged into one of my motherboards usb headers. The hub has two flash drives and the front panel usb and card reader panels plugged into it.
On the back of my tower at the motherboards I/O port, I have these items plugged in through USB; mouse, keyboard, GNX4(guitar pedal), GR-55(guitar pedal), MO6(synthesizer), and an xbox 360 wireless reciever for gaming. Do I have more devices plugged in than Windows 7 can handle?
Does Windows 7 have a limit on how many USB external hard drives it will use? We have 5 WD My Book 1TB drives; 4 of them are recognized and work just fine with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 (which we recently did a clean install of to replace Vista Home Premium 64), but the 5th one doesn't show up with a drive letter (in Computer or Windows Explorer), even though it does show up in Control Panel.
The one we are having trouble with has had the latest firmware and WD SmartWare installed, and our computer has the most current Dell BIOS installed. We know the drive works, because we can plug it into our other computer which has Windows XP on it and it comes up with a drive letter just fine. Just wondering if there's a limit on how many of these you can use with Windows 7, since we had no problem with the drive until we installed the new OS.
What if you order a windows 7 upgrade with another laptops serial number and product number??... for HP laptops??!.

Or the fact there are two different processors prevents games from using the second's processing power, or somesuch? (like it was for older games designed for single cores when running on dual cores)In the past all servers I found were too damn crappy to do anything else than what they were designed to do (sit in a server rack and do something boring 24/7), so I have little experience in re-purposing them.

I need to figure out if this possible and what I have to do to accomplish this.I am wanting to force a video game to use all four processors and all/ more Ram memory than the game was designed to use. According the Game manufacturs/ producer I was informed to use Msconfig to set up this procedure and for it to work properly. Is this correct or is there a different way I can force this game to work better?
View 1 Replies View Related"Windows 7 will be able to take advantage not only of faster CPUs, but of multiple processors on a single chip. The 64-bit edition of the operating system in particular will be able to support over 64 Logical Processors per machine.
In this regard, Microsoft underlined the need for software developers to adapt their applications in accordance with the evolution of processor chips and that of the Windows operating system.
Essentially, consistent gains in performance are synonymous with using parallel programming techniques in concordance with many-core processors. This is where non-uniform memory access (NUMA) comes in.
“The 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 support more than 64 Logical Processors (LP) on a single computer,” Phil Pennington, Windows Server Technical Evangelism, revealed. “New processors are now appearing that leverage non-uniform memory access (NUMA) architectures.
Within the near future, a system with 4 CPU sockets, 8 processor-cores per socket, and with Simultaneious Multi-Threading (SMT) enabled per core, will achieve 64 Logical Processors. Many server-class solutions will need to be architected with NUMA awareness in order to achieve linear performance scaling on 64+ LP systems.”
NUMA is a designed to allow a way around the limitations of the processor bus. Because of its non-linear characteristics, each processor is more intimately connected with its proximate memory, rather than with all the memory available. Unlike the Symmetric Multi-Processor (SMP) model, in which processors are all on par when it comes down to memory and I/O access, NUMA allows for memory access optimization.
“There is nothing the matter with NUMA – machines with non-uniform memory access speeds – of course, other than the fact that they introduce complex, hardware-specific programming models if you want to build applications that can harness their performance and capacity effectively.
What is decidedly new is the extent to which previously esoteric NUMA architecture machines are becoming mainstream building blocks for current and future application servers. For the connected applications of the future, our ability to build programming models that help server application developers deal with complex NUMA architecture performance considerations is the singular challenge of the many-core era,” Windows Performance Engineer Rick Vicik explained. I tried installing a 64 bit Windows 7 on 32 bit processor(Dual Core, 2.80HGHz) having a DDR RAM of 2.5GB. But I could not do so due to 'Hardware Incompatibility'.I then tried to install a 32 bit-Windows7 Home premium, but again the same 'Hardware Incompatibility' appears on screen and prevents the installation.

Now I am trying to partition my 500GB Hardisk. The C: drive is around 465GB so I want to reduce C: to 150GB (OS+Programs/Software) and make another D: drive which will have the rest 315GB (Personal files + games).
The problem now is there is a limit in the shrink volume amount. And this limit i quite big. It only lets me reduce the C: drive to 243GB. Here is the Screenshot:

I am trying to setup a kiosk pc. Is there any tutorial around explaining how to configure the Windows Firewall so that it has the following profiles:
Firewall profile "normal":
- default configuration
Firewall profile "kiosk":
- software1.exe may access the internet using ports 1234 and 2345
- software2.exe may do outgoing connections only using port 3456
- software3.exe may do incoming connections only using port 4567
- all other programs may not access the internet at all; all other connections are blocked
Further, wwitching the profile (or changing the firwall configuration in general) should only be possible using admin rights.
how to setup this, i want to setup this to people that have access to my virtual wifi will have bandwidth limit in order not have all my internet bandwidth consumes and cannot have access to certain website (eg like Internet, facebook ,my adsl modem web configure page).

When I go to the audio mixer and do the test and configuration, the SoundMax audio level is loud and clear. The problem is with the Windows system settings somewhere, is there a limiter or cap setting in teh registry that I can set to maximum? I know that it is not the standard slide bars/levels but somewhere that Windows 7 Professional is cutting the volume on any Windows application. The drivers are fine, if I invoke the card directly it will blast the sound out. But in any application it is too soft.

I got a stupid email from MS -- How's the RC going.
In it it says something about you can install on 3 separate computers.
Well I'm still using the BETA keys and haven't come up against any 3 Computer limit or activation problems with THOSE keys - and I've tested Windows 7 on SCORES of different hardware configurations.
Has anybody actually had a problem with the RC keys or is the email from MS totally BS.
Been searching the net for ages to sort out this bug in IE, but alas.Basically, if you try to open like a hundred IE windows, I start getting weird issues.I can open hundreds and hundreds of FF windows, but for some reason, IE doesn't hack it.I read that it's something to do with desktop heap, so I upped it's value via the registry (SharedSection), but to no avail. Messes up at something like 70 windows, every time. Has anyone managed to successfully open 100 IE windows here in Windows 7 Pro x64?
