ive got 78 processorsrunning in task manager and 77 services - which ones could i stop / disable to make the laptop run faster windows 7service pack 1ie3 -2350m cpu @2.30ghz64 bit operating systems
I tried installing a 64 bit Windows 7 on 32 bit processor(Dual Core, 2.80HGHz) having a DDR RAM of 2.5GB. But I could not do so due to 'Hardware Incompatibility'.I then tried to install a 32 bit-Windows7 Home premium, but again the same 'Hardware Incompatibility' appears on screen and prevents the installation.

The computes is running slow, i have scanned with spybot, kaspersky, ARO 2011 registry cleaner. I don't know how to test memory? don't know what to do from here?? I have defragged hard drive.
No0b to TechGuy Forum. I was really impressed by the tips and solutions providing by the everyone. I am not much of a techy, but know my way around computers.Since the introduction is out of the way, I need HELP!! My son has a Gateway laptop which I restored to factory specs because it was running slow. Thinking this would solve the problem but it hasn't. The laptop is taking hours to load up Windows and any attempt to run any applications, it would take so much time to load and it would freeze.
In the last few days my computer has been functioning much more slowly. When I reboot it works pretty well, but then after a while, after I start opening applications (Word, Google Chrome, etc) it slows down immensely and it's driving me nuts. This a relatively new (bought in Feb) Lenovo Thinkpad Edge. i downloaded HijackThis v2.0.4 and ran it, but I can't find the log. And I get a pop-up error message: For some reason your system denied write access to the Hosts file. If any hijacked domains are in this file, HijackThis may NOT be able to fix this."
I made a thread about this about a month ago, but I did everything I was told to do and nothing changed. This laptop is way too slow. The audio is just a big mess from the login screen and onward(really laggy and static-y). I ran some malware stuff and registry repair as suggested, in safe mode and normal mode, but nothing was fixed. After a few hours, I gave up and dual-booted Ubuntu 10.04 and it worked perfectly. Speed was excellent, audio was too. The only problem is I just use PCs for gaming and chatting, and I can't do much gaming with Ubuntu. So, any idea what could be the problem here? I even tried windirstats too see if any huge files that weren't supposed to be there were causing this, because I once had a problem on my own computer where I had this huge file that slowed down everything and wouldn't let me delete it until I did so in safe mode and then everything worked perfectly again.also, at the boot up menu, there are two loaders. one for vista, one for windows 7. windows 7 just starts up 7, while the vista loader goes to some menu thing that looks like it was booted from a disc.1.it has the options to reset to factory settings and format the C: drive 2.has the option to reset, but keep data
I've been having this problem recently with my laptop running in kind of like slow motion. The problem starts when it takes my laptop an extra long time to boot up and then afterwards my windows minimize and maximize very slowly and my games kind of run in slow motion. This happens 1 out of 10 reboots and a restart usually fixes the problem.I've done memtest, chckdsk, hard drive tests with seagate tools, scans with malwarebytes and avira, temperature readings with speedfan but nothing has been found. The only thing was with the chckdsk finding space mark as allocated that was free but I believe that problem was fixed in subsequent chckdsks.I have noticed these two error messages in my event log though:Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.digital delivery service has terminated unexpectedly. it has done this (1) times.
my New Samsung Laptop is running alot slower than before, it was running nice and fast then all of a sudden the next time I started it up it was ALOT slower
Let me know if you need any more info on the Specs.Anyway, I only installed a a small game and now its running slower, but i have installed games before and they didnt make much difference. I ran a Full Scan on Norton and there was no Viruses. Im so confused. Ive tried Cleaning Up my Computer too.
The fan in my laptop hasn't been working for some time and the laptop is running hot. When I checked the temperature of the CPU it shows an average of 80 degrees C when running a few tasks. Task manager shows the CPU running at 100% when I'm only running Firefox and 5 download tasks on IDM. I suppose the slow performance is related to the heat issue but I'm not sure if there has been a permanent damage to the motherboard or CPU.
Besides fixing the fan, is there a need to replace the motherboard+CPU as well?
So I have a Dell Inspirion 1545; One day when I turned it on, it started running extremely slow. It took almost 30 minutes just to boot to password screen, I put in the password and almost took another 30 minutes to get to desktop. Well then it started giving me errors like Dell Dock has failed and Windows (Something) had crashed, I got it up long enough to run Malware Bytes, and CCleaner to fix registry errors but nothing. Now I try to turn it on in normal mode and takes about an hour and thirty minutes to get through everything and to the desktop and thats if the icons decide to show. and if I try to get it into safe mode I get Bad_System_config_Info bsod.I dont really know whats going on, it decided that it was gonna shit out on a random day. The computer is out of warranty and Dell doesnt provide support for it anymore. Its basically un-bootable. There are no system restore points aswell, Repair your computer says it fixes everything but it doesnt.
i have a laptop with windows 7 and its become really upon startup, in particular when i click on the mozilla icon.... take foreva. From what i read thus far, i need to switch off programmes that are running on start up but not sure which ones to switch off
I happened to run across this forum while searching for answers to my computer troubles through Google. Here's the issue, my laptop is no more then a year old. It's a Dell Model N5040 running Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1. For the past week or so my computer has been running increasingly slower, and i cannot for the life of me figure out why.I am only using 36gb of a 446gb hard drive, I have 4gb of ram and have run a virus scan, disk cleanup, and a disk defrag.. It does not run slower while doing certain things infact it seems to selectively slow down. I attempted to complete a disk check of my C drive. This has found a few bad sectors which have been either removed during the check or manually however after a week of attempting to run the disk check I have yet to fully complete a single check. It will freeze at some point on every step and never recover.
I use Trend Micro Titanium as my virus protector and I have even attempted to use their house call software to check if maybe my virus softare was compromised I have used Spybot search and destroy and CCleaner in an attempt to clear up any clutter and/or spy/malware. My only conclusion is that maybe some Windows driver was deleted by mistake through CCleaner. I have attempted to start my computer in safe mode however even this cannot be completed, it freezes and never recovers.Nevertheless, I am at an impass i am unsure on where I go from here and would obviously prefer to fix this myself rather then let some self proclaimed "tech" at a shady I.T. company tell me i need a new computer because they cant figure it out either.
I have a toshiba laptop and I think there may be background programs running because it is very slow. I have window xp and also need to get rid of that and install windows 7?
I'm just installed windows 7 on my 2009 imac through bootcamp. However there are some problems. Ive noticed when i try to play something on windows media player it will tell me that my computer is running low on memory and to close some windows. Also games run poorly if at all. I suspect its a driver issue but have gone through all the auto updates etc.
My computer has been running slow for months, but it is now getting to the point where it is almost unbearable. For example, just clicking on a folder to open it can take up to 15 seconds to respond. It also lags a ton during internet browsing.
It is an HP dv7-4080us Notebook with Intel i7 processor, running windows 7 64bit. for the past 2 years, it has been running very fast, but then I brought it on one of my vacations. After that, it ran very slow, and I have not been able to fix it. It runs fast in safe mode. I scanned it with Norton, and I'm currently scanning with Avira. No viruses. I also made it so that no processes or services that weren't needed for the system started on startup. I barely noticed any change in speed.
I have win7 64bit running on intel dual core with 4 mb ram The system has been running slow for about 2 months. For example results for searches in the start menu take about 5 seconds to appear, iNDESIGN taking much too long to load up, and waiting for thumbnails to load in heavier folders.
A few days ago my pc started running really slow. I didn't do or download anything new so i'm stumped. every few minutes its like my system skips. freezes for a second then runs. Every program I click stops responding, I have to wait a few seconds for it to start running again. Minimized windows lag while they're being maximized, Chrome tabs open and load pages really slow. Even clicking the start menu takes it forever to come up. its like im running on an ancient PC. I've done some things to try and fix this like:Avg boostspeed and CC cleaner to try and fix any problems.Cleaned and defraged the registry &Defraged and optimize the hard drive Virus and malware scans all come back negative. No windows updates either.I have no idea what else to do.
My system is running slow. What could be the possible cause [CODE]The gaming graphics score is based on the primary graphics adapter. If this system has linked or multiple graphics adapters, some software applications may see additional performance benefits. Caution: Based on the results of the WinSAT Disk assessment, your system drive may have slower response times under some workloads. Performance results will depend on the specific applications used and the amount of memory available.
I'm having a problem with my computer I am running two operating systems on my computer. Windows 7 on a sata hard drive, and windows XP on an ide drive. my problem is that my hard drive light flashes constantly about once per secondm, and the computer is running slow, ( solitare is slugish and jumpy). I've been on a malware site discussion board, and determened that my system is clean.i've been reviewing some other discussion boards and a couple of them mention about problems with cd/ dvd drives cauing this problem . i've turned auto insert notiyication off on both of my drives, but the light still flashes. I disconnected the data cable from my cdrom and dvd drives and the problem is gone. reconnect them and the problem returns. I don't want to burn up my new hard drive
I have a HP I purchased at a store just over a year ago.I am running Windows 7 64bit. [code] I have some games (Spore, Sid Meier's Railroads) that worked great on this machine after I got it. The machine more then meets the specs. I could play for as long as I want and have no issues. Now I open either game and after about 5-10 minutes it is like the machine is overwhelmed with process. My CPU usage and ram goes up to 100% and everything is slow. When I click on a button to get a menu it takes 3-5 seconds for the menu to come up and then another 3-5 seconds for the mouse to move to the menu so I can select an option. So far I have made sure all my drivers are current, I have cleaned the registry with 2 different cleaners, I have removed all unnecessary programs from starting, I have tracked down process I determined to be non-essential and made sure those don't run, I have tweaked Windows to use less recourse (I should not need to do this now), I have removed unneeded programs, I have defragged, I have cleaned unneeded files, I have run Microsoft malware scanner (forget the name, no problems found), I have run Kaspersky 2011 in a deep scan and a critical area scan (nothing found), I even got one of those Speed Up My PC programs (I know garbage program) because I am so frustrated but that didn't do anything. I don't want to F disk it because I have too much data I need to keep.
My computer has been running slow lately. It is maintained. I checked start up programs, deleted programs. I did the things I know how to do. I have a Hijack This report.
I have a PC running windows 7 ultimate edition. 4.0 GB RAM, AMD Athlon2 X2 processor at 2.9GHz.This PC was always lightning fast with everything, and now its slower than dirt with everything from opening files to opening pages on the web. I don't know whats happened to it. I update and use Malwarebytes on a daily basis with never an infection, and use AVG antivirus with no instances of virus.I'm hoping someone can get me on the right track here. I was having issues a year ago and you guys nailed the problem, so I'm back hoping for more of the same
I have windows 7 32bit on a older pc it was running well, but now everything is running slow programs and internet they stop responding as well.I have scanned for virus and run superantispyware, still slow.I tried to run combofix, but it will not install right.
This program has been running for 12 hours without interruption, and it is still chunking away but slower. That is it seems to pause 5-10 seconds before flashing up the next file. I don't think my data is unusually large at just over 1 million files, and my hard drives total 2,946 GB with each well under 50% used capacity. All other programs can run smoothly and Windows Task Manager Shows no program is stuck. But if I need to wait for 1+ million files to be examined at 5 seconds each, it won't be done in my lifetime! What do I need to do differently?
7 laptop apears to be running very slow! and when i say slow i dont mean like slow while gaming i mean like sometimes it will take me 10 minutes to open windows explorer! first ill tell you the specsAcer aspire 5745pgi3 350-m 2.26 ghz 4gb ddr3320gb (less than half full) Although i will note that system reserved has only 35mb left (i know this because when i as trying to do a backup you get errors of system reserved is under 40 mb but i dont know if this effects performance speed)indow 7 64 bit (reinstalled just a 2 weeks ago because it got so slow then stopped booting alltogether)I have "AVG pc tuneup pro" and when scanned found thousands of errors and later on fixed them ( i know it can make it worse but when its this bad im just trying anything.
I just got a new Dell Inspiron ONE 2320 with Windows 7 and it is unbelievably slow! I has XP on my old computer and never had these issues. Google Chrome takes forever, IE9 is much worse and just getting into My Documents takes a long time as well. I checked for performance issues in the control panel and it came back saying that my computer is set up to run programs at Startup that may cause delays. The problem is that I don't know which programs can be disabled at startup.I also checked the memory and it says its at 2.86 GB. That seems high for a new computer, doesn't it? The physical memory also says it has about 2900 mb in use. I just don't understand that.I'll do my best to describe the computer. The computer is a Dell Inspiron ONE 2320 and the Processor is an Intel Core i3-2100 CPU @3.10GHz 3.10GHz. RAM is 4.00 GB. It's a 64 bit operating system.
Here are the programs I have running on the startup tab on the system configuration:
Webcam Central stage_primary Roxio Burn Realtek HD Audio Manager PowerReg notes_startup_widget
I'm not too familiar with windows as I've been using mac for several years. I bought a windows computer to play games with. Mainly World of Warcraft.
I've managed to play WoW with high settings until a couple of days ago, then I noticed that the game is running very very slow no matter what settings I'm using. So I figured I might have a virus. And searched through countless websites about how to restore windows.I found out that my samsung laptop had a program called samsung recovery solution 5. So I clicked to get a full restore.I later found out that it only restored the C drive and not the D drive as well. I had WoW installed on D drive, so I figured I should check if it made any difference. Loaded up WoW and I could play smoothly. After about 10 minutes it started lagging again and was unplayable.World of Warcraft is not the only game that runs slow. Minecraft, Assassins Creed and pretty much all of my games are running slow after a couple of minutes. Now I'm starting to wonder if it is the computer itself which makes the games run so slowly. My computer is getting very warm after just a couple of minutes of gaming and I've read that it might slow down the computer performance.
