View 2 Replies View RelatedI am am running Windows 7 64, and my C drive was 150GB, and the other drive was 450GB. I decided to extend or expand it by deleting one of the volumes. However, I have come across a speed bump while doing this. After deleting my unused partition which was 450GB, and right clicked on the C drive to extend, but the extend option is greyed out. The shrink volume seems to be clickable though.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I have 30Gigs on my Windows 7 Partition, which was fine for a while, but I want to use Windows 7 more extensively now so I wanted to extend my partition. I have looked at the tutorial posted in the tutorials, and its as simple as right-clicking the partition and clicking 'Extend Volume'. Well the problem is that no matter what I try, this option is always grayed out. Whenever I right-click any of my partitions, all of the options are available except for 'Extend Volume'. Am I missing a step here, or am I not doing something right?
View 9 Replies View RelatedRunning out of space and I'd like to extend my primary (C) partition to the next drive (D) but in computer management D is listed as "Page file, Logical drive" and it will not allow me to delete it.
Would moving page file from D to E partition allow me to extend C into D? If so, how do I move page file in Windows 7 to another partition?
If I can't do this in Windows natively does someone have a suggestion on 3rd party software?
i was trying creating new partition in my laptop so i shrank c drive but after that i got issue in loading desktop?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy mom got her laptop from Best Buy, and it came with Geek Squad optimization. They made it so the C: drive is around 58GB, and the D: is the other GBs which add up to 500GB. She is practically out of room on her C: and the computer is almost unusable. I already deleted the D: partition, but the partition manager in Windows 7 won't let me extend the partition to fill up all of the space. The option to extend it is just grayed out.
View 2 Replies View RelatedNew to the forums and need some help here as I'm lost. I just got my new laptop and noticed that the C drive (O/S) was getting full and wanted to add more space. I deleted the recovery partition of 25GB so I could extend my C partition.
However, I do not have the option to expand my C drive, see the print screen link below:
I also tried using minitool partition wizard which looked to be successful but upon reboot I got an error.
While running Computer Management as Administrator, I have a USB disk that is split into two partitions. One is healthy and active (NTFS) and the other is unallocated. When I right click on the active disk, I should be seeing an option to expand this drive to take over the unallocated space, should I not? It is a basic disk, not dynamic, but I thought that even basic disks have this ability. I am able to see this option when I right click on dynamic disks...
View 10 Replies View RelatedI read up a bit on this on other threads but none of them are exactly specific to my issue.I need to expand my C partition by utilizing the free unallocated space on disk D (a separate disk) that I just made by deleting the only partition on there.I guess this is not possible through windows disk management tools but I didn't want to start downloading any 3rd party software for this before I got some guidance from here. lease take a look at the following screen and let me know if using the 238.38GB of unused (unallocated space) I can extend the C partition without having to delete that partition, having to backup the files on it or making images. I already backed up everything I had on the D partition and then went ahead and deleted it through the computer management tool.

View 6 Replies View Relatedwhen I'm formatting a HDD that is completely clean (no partitions or volumes) should I create a partition or some kind of volume to format the drive, which will format the whole drive, I don't know which one to go with.
If partition, what kind, primary extended etc. If volume, what kind of volume RAID, stripe etc
In my friend's PC, I wanted to extend his (C) Drive's Size. But I failed to do it.Firstly, I used "Disk Management" to do it,then I used diskpart and then a Third Party Software. All of them failed to extend C drive.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI'm currently running Win XP Pro. on dynamic disks with the system partition mirrored.I have a 20GB simple volume on one of the dynamic disks which I had intended to install a copy of Windows 7 Enterprise on, intending to dual-boot as I changed over from XP to 7, but it appears that you can't install Windows 7 on a dynamic disk as "setup cannot find a location for temporary files." According to Microsoft my only option is to revert the existing dynamic disk/s to basic - losing everything on it including my XP installation.Microsoft says not to mix volumes and partitions on the same disk, but a third party application called Dynamic Disk Converter claims to be able to change simple volumes back to primary partitions - though it isn't clear from the documentation if this can be done to just one volume out of several on a dynamic disk.My options appear to be:
1. Get another hdd for Windows 7.
2. Break the XP mirror and convert one dynamic disk back to basic for Windows 7 - losing my RAID protection
3. Ignore Microsoft's advice and see if Dynamic Disk Converter actually can convert a simple volume back to a primary partition, risking my whole installation.
I removed the mirror for my 2 hardrive to reinstall Windows 7 & sp1. I am now unable to remirror(greyed out) or reformat that 2nd drive as it is still showing as a system volume partion.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using dual booted laptop Windows 7 and Linux. I opened my Disk management and I right clicked the Linux partition drive and I selected "Delete Volume", After that i formated that partition. Now when I restarted my laptop, i got error like this:
"Grub loading. Error: Unknown files grub rescue>".
Then I created a live USB contains SGD iso file. I booted this USB on booting time and selected Windows boot. It asked in the black screen with options "Start windows normally " and " Launch and Start up Repair and " I selected the second option and I tried to restore my back up files, then I can see that C drive contains only the files and folders which I was stored in D drive. and D drive shows only 200 MB size. I dont have CD drive in my laptop. Before this problem:
C drive is -58GB
D drive is -141GB
Now C drive shows 141GB and contains the files which were in my D drive.
i had windows 7 OS in drive c . while i was partitioning drive c using disk management, disk 0 which has all recovery image drive c were converted to simple type.
View 5 Replies View Relatedso i have a blue yeti, and i'm an online animator/voice actor. whenever i record audio on my blue yeti (or any other mic) i record about 4-6 inches from the mic, and turn the gain down enough that the audio doesn't peak as i yell or whatever. this is what you're supposed to do if you don't want your audio levels peaking and making your recording sound horrible and corrupted. however, afterwards, it means i have really quite recordings. not a problem right? now that it's recorded right, i can boost the volume of the entire clip afterwards right? wrong. i'm not an audio expert so i must be missing something. but why in gods name would the audio distort and peak after it's recorded successfully? it's all there, it's all clean audio. if i turn the volume on my speakers all the way up it sounds crystal clear! all i want to do is do that inside the computer so that when i upload it to Internet people don't have to turn their speakers so far up. but if i increase the clips volume in the computer, it distorts! it sounds awful! why?! i tried in sony acid and audacity and they both do the same thing! i can take sound effects, and recordings made by other producers and crank them up nice and loud, but mine just fall apart!

I just received a new keyboard today: Thermaltake Challenger Ultimate. I went from a Logitech G15.
First thing I did was connect the keyboard and install the software that came along on the CD, it probably also installed the correct drivers. First after this did I uninstall the software and drivers from the old Logitech G15. But before that, and now after, the volume buttons on my new keyboard is still not adjusting the volume when I press them.
A speaker-icon like this shows up when I press the volume buttons, so its not that the keys are not working: (ignore the text behind it, its me writing an assignment)
I recently got this problem, that my volume hotkeys stopped working, (Acer Aspire 5560G) AMD High Definition Audio. I also tryed plug in other keyboard that have's volume hotkeys but still doesn't work.
