Dec 1, 2009only when playing solitare on a new dell laptop, if I let the game sit for a couple min without playing an error pops up saying "failed to create directx" can anyone help me out here?

Dec 17, 2011I recently re-installed windows and am now trying to install the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010). All goes well, it installs everything, but as it finished I get this error: I have tried redownloading, using other installers and updating my graphics drivers. Nothing will work. It's probably worth mentioning that the first time I tried installing, about a week ago, my computer totally froze in the middle of the install and I had to force restart.

Oct 22, 2011Yesterday I tried making partitions in my hard disk, and I failed Here's what I did:
1. run compmgmt.msc
2. Shrink C: drive
3. my hard disk' capacity shrunk from 451GB to 260GB
4. an error window appeared ("I/O device error" I think)
5. it left me no unallocated space to create partition
using compmgmt I can't extend my hdd back to 451GB, so I used MiniTool partition wizard to restore it (btw, shrinking with MT PartitionWiz resulted the same, no unallocated space)
Failed To Create A Phone Book Entry
Aug 23, 2011I have a huawei modem. When I try to connect to modem by using it then I got a message "Failed to create a phone book entry". Then I search to internet about this problem. I found a solution by the deleting file named "rasphone.pbk" where located is c:program dataMicrosoftNetwork ConnectionPBkasphone.pbk. It's say's delete the following file and try again. I perform that and success. But problem here, I perform that task by the "Administrator" user login. When I login by the other username such as my name, then I get the same message again. But when I login by the "Administrator" then I can connect to modem without any problem. Then I think, it seem for permission. Then I added my user name in the "Administrator" group. But problem still now. I try by the taking ownership of that file, but it showing "access is denied". So I cannot replace ownership.

Jun 25, 2011I had the same problem yesterday, When I installed the game. My laptop wouldn't even switch on properly yesterday, That is now fixed and I'm still having game issues. I Installed steam then Just Cause, took about 2 hours. It said it was ready to play so I clicked played, A black screen comes up, flashes a few times, the a box comes up.

Jan 9, 2010I recently built a windows 7 home premium PC with an Intel 160 GB SSD as (C) for OS/programs and second 1TB HDD as (D) for data and backups. I also have a DVD burner (H). They are all SATA drives running in AHCI mode. Immediately after installing just windows, I used the windows backup feature to successfully create a system image to a local disk (D) which was and still is nearly empty. The next day, after installing drivers, updates, and a few programs, I went to create a second system image but this time it failed. The process started as it should have but halfway through it failed with the following message:
"The backup failed"
"The device is not connected (0x8007048f)"
At that point, after exiting the program, the D drive does not show up on my computer. Upon rebooting the D drive reappears. I searched the web and found some references to checking whether volume shadow copying services and their dependent services were working and that didn't work. Another reference said to try updating to a newer bios as some have bugs that screw up the enumerator for the drive order. The BIOS I use is the latest and wasn't changed since my first successful attempt at creating the system image.

Jan 30, 2011I *WAS* having this problem trying to play RIFT Beta, however, a quick search of your forum gave me just the answer that solved my problem. The launcher would start, then I would click play, and a directx update window would open, when I clicked the next button on the installer for directx (the window did not provide a version), I would get the error box telling me to look in my directx.log file, which contained many lines of error code about missing cab files. I then used the link provided in a closed thread on this forum that took me to the Microsoft Directx software page, I downloaded the latest rev of the runtime sdk kit, after 6 minutes of installation, RIFT launched perfectly. May 12, 2009What happened: At the very end of installing RC Windows 7, I got a "failed to upgrade" message, and then it said my system would automatically revert back to Vista, which it did (thankfully).
I have already uninstalled Windows OneCare (virus protection). However, when Windows 7 was installing, my Spyware Doctor opened up and I had to click "yes" on it for the Spyware Doctor box to go away. Do you think that could have caused the upgrade to fail? I had turned off Spyware Doctor, but I'm thinking I should uninstall it before trying Windows 7 again. What do you all think?

Jan 14, 2009I have tried installing Windows 7 in Virtual PC and on my HP 2133 netbook. Both halt when in the copy file stage with this error message:
Windows cannot copy files required for installation. The files may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070241 I have downloaded the iso's again (from the Microsoft partner site) in case there was a corrupt download, but I get the same error.
The VPC image was using the ISO directly, and I copied the files from the iso to a usb drive for the netbook install. Anyone else see this?

Nov 7, 2012(I was going to post this in the software section, but I assumed since it pertains to the network portion of the application and that I can connect through a VPN, that the problem is LAN Network oriented)I recently installed the software Raidcall (RaidCall-100% FREE Group Communication Software- IM, Group Communication and Voice Chat) which is a program designed to be a cross between Skype and Ventrilo. I avidly registered and the process went smoothly. That was all until I came up to login screen where after entering my information, I got the following error: Connection Failed. please try again later (Error code:23). Does this have something to do with Cyclic Redundancy Checking? That's the only information I could come up with. I've done as much research as I can think of, sent them an email with lots of information (no response as to the answer yet), and also asked on their forums but no dice.
Background information (I can provide more if needed)
- On a University Campus ( Technical Information | IT | Indiana Wesleyan University )
-I"m connected directly through to their wall. I"ve also tried swapping out my own cables to no avail.
- Have done an Error Checking Check for both drives (for CYC relation - which I think it may be the culprit (I"m not tech savy though hence my forum post)
- I CAN connect to it through a VPN (Hotshield) - obviously I don't want to have this be my way of connecting through it because I want to use Raidcall while playing (World of Warcraft) and it gives me horrible latency.
- I've called my IT support here at school, and they didn't think it would be something on their end. Although the guy on the other end did not sound intelligible at all.
