Create Windows 7 Boot Drive In Windows 8?
Jan 28, 2013
I have just bought a new laptop for my wife and it has windows 8 on it. It has no optical drive and she would prefer to use windows 7I have a windows 7 dvd but this isn't much use for me here! So far, I have got an extracted windows 7 .iso file on the desktop but not sure what to do with this next.I am aware I can't just drag the .iso file onto the flash drive and then boot the laptop from usb, there seems to be more to it than that. It would probably just ignore it and not boot from it.What I have here is a Windows 8 laptop and one with Ubuntu on it with which to work with. This new one will be arriving within the next few days.

For security reasons, I would like to create a windows 7 X64 boot USB flash Drive , not an install drive. A drive where when I remove it, the system will not boot. What files do I need to put on the drive, or is there a progrm I can use to create it?

Does anyone know of a way to take several different ISO's (multiple Windows ISO'sUbuntu, Hiren's Boot CD, etc.) and put them onto a flash drive from which I can boot and select one?I've tried several different utilities thus far - unetbootin, YUMI,XBoot - but none have allowed me to successfully add all my images.

I have a problem laptop that has a oem windows 7 home premium on it. I want to wipe everything so that only windows 7 is left and start from scratch as the issues I am having cant possibly be hardware based (I hope!!) The issues are varied. Can I write a boot cd from my current setup. Have googled it but see alot of topics that dont exactly match my situation. My ssd has partitions for system and hp recovery. Would it be simpler to restore somehow using that. Ideally I would like to create a windows 7 disk from my Oem erase everything and boot from cd.I know there will be a thread somewhere that fits this but I cant tell the ******** from the right way to go.

Okay so I have searched online for how to create a Windows 7 Boot Disc, but to no avail. I have blank dvds, I have a legit operating system, and I have an activation code. I have no idea where to go from here and find boot files or installation files or create ISOs etc.

I want to have a boot partition, system partition and have a separate storage partition for all of my files. I am a bit confused about the boot partition/system partition relationship and still haven't found any clear or concise info to tell me how I would go about creating this. I have already partitioned the HDD into three sections and have already installed Win7. The active partition is also the boot AND system partition.

I have a 1TB drive that partitioned with 120gb system and rest is a non primary/non boot data partition volume... I've never used windows 7 create system image, but want to. When I try to create a system image it insist on backing up both drives. I don't see how to deselect the data drive. Is this because I have installed something system related. on the data drive? And Finally, how will recovery of a system image works if I get a blue screen, do I need to install windows 7 again first or have a repair CD? I noticed when I started a create system image it asked me for the destination drive, no exact path on the drive, does the image have be created on the root of the destination drive?

I'm using Windows 7 Professional as a 32 bit version. Now I want to install Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on my machine from my USB drive. The problem is that my machine doesn't boot from the USB drive. Anyway, I've tried with a 32 bit version of Windows 7 on my USB drive. This works well, but not with a 64 bit version. Why it doesn't work? Just to be on the safe side, I've tested it several times with other USB drives and followd thoroughly the instructions(diskpart).

I brought windows 7 pc before 6 months. I did not know even abcd of computer at that time. I installed lots of software and games without having proper knowledge. Even i delete registry files thinking that, they are not useful to me. so i got serious problems on my pc. I finally format my pc a month before. As i describe earlier without having proper knowledge, just reading few post on internet i just insert my windows 7 cd, and install it like normal software without booting cd. It install smoothly without having any problems. The only thing was that, it doesn't format c drive instead it create windows.old folder. I delete it safely reading post from internet. Now the problem is for speed up my pc i decide to try xp on it. so i brought xp cd. I understand that without booting it is not installing xp on my pc. So i follow normal procedure of booting cd(Restarting pc and pressing f12). There was options like boot from hard drive, LS120, CDROM . I select cdrom. After that there was message "Verifying operating system Boot from cd/dvd. " for 2 second. After that it take me to the normal windows start up. I try these lots of time but i am unable to boot cd.I even try it with windows 7 cd but i am steel getting same message.Does this is because my first wrong formatting of pc.

my main pc got a new motherboard and requires a fresh install of windows 7. Ok, I have the windows 7 iso and I have the motherboard installed into my computer. I put the ISO on my flash drive but when I booted from the flash drive I got "Reboot and select a proper boot device or insert media in selected device and press a button." After 2 days and countless hours searching I can not get this to work. The computer I am on right now is a Windows XP 32x laptop. Is it even possible for me to make a usb drive loaded with windows 7 ultimate 64x for another computer? With every step by step guide I found on how to do this they either said to use the Windows 7 usb dvd download tool (which is what I have been using since the beginning to no avail) or do it manually. To do it manually involves the Diskpart feature of the command prompt, which on xp, doesnt detect flash drives. So...I cant do it manually.tell me if I have to reinstall my old motherboard (heatsink installation is a pain which is why I dread installing motherboards) and then upon reinstalling old motherboard do I have to set up my flash drive (again) and hope I didnt mess up just to rip the motherboard back out and put the new new one back in and hope the usb boots this time?

2 months ago, I installed windows 7 pro with no problems at all. Fast forward to today, I decided to reformat because the boot would get stuck in the middle of trying to boot into windows, it wouldn't flash the windows logo. I didn't think much of it so I just reformatted. This is where my real troubles began. So I reinstall windows 7 pro with no problems (the boot disk is in there the cd drive the entire time) I install my programs and what not and install my updates. All 100% Fine. Then I take out the boot disk and restart again... and I get this error message saying:
Nvidia Boot Agent 229.0525
Copyright 2001-2005 Nvidia Corp
Copyright 1997-2000 Intel Corp
Client Mac Address: 00 30 1B BC1F59 GUID: 12973077-FFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFF DCHP....
Then I press escape, then it says this:
PXE-EA0: Network Boot Canceled
PXE-M0F: Exiting Nvidia Boot Agent
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
So the first time I got this error, I just thought, Oh, something must have happened no big deal, so I reformatted again and again. But I kept on getting the same exact error. It'll load into windows just fine when my install disc is in the cd drive, but when I take it out, that error pops up. *My windows is authentic, each time I have been able to validate my copy.* I have tried installing from my hard drive and from the install disc with same error.*
This is my current set up:
Shuttle XPC SN27P2 (Barebone) Comes with motherboard, PSU, and case.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ @2.6GHz 65W
PNY XLR8 GTS 250
OCZ Reaper Memory 4GB PC-6400 DDR2-800
WD 74GB Raptor
WD 640GB Internal
WD 2.0TB Internal
WD 1.5TB External
WD 400GB External
Cavalry 1.0TB External
Shuttle 450 Watt PSU
Logitech G15 + MX518 + FuncPad 1030 Blk on Blk
Sony Optirac 18x DVD-/+RW drive
Dual Samsung SyncMaster 225BW 22" LCD Wide Screen Monitors
So how can I get windows to boot up with out having the boot disk in the cd drive...It worked the very first time I installed windows 7 on my PC...

I need to create a winPE boot CD for use with my backup software (Paragon Backup & Restore 10.2 free). The one created by Paragon free is a Linux boot CD that does not work correctly for me. They do have a WinPE CD but it comes with the $69 paid version. I checked on the web and it seems pretty complicated to create my own WinPE requiring me to first install a 900 MB free program (WAIK) to create it with. Is there no simple way to create a WinPE CD right from my installed Windows 7 home premium 64 bit system (or XP system) or by simply downloading a WinPE CD iso? Finally, how is a WinPE boot CD different from the boot CD the Windows 7 system creates?

I'm not sure which section of the forum to post this. For some reason in Windows 7 RC1 (build 7100) I don't have the option to create a new folder in the root of one mapped domain network drive. What's weird is that with all of my other network drives I can, and I can make new folders in subfolders of the drive I'm having problems with. I just can't in the root of that one drive. The account I'm logged in with does have full control of the folder the drive maps to. I've checked with another member on our domain that is running the same RC1 and he doesn't have this problem.

Is there a way (or tutorial) to create a repair disc for a multi boot Windows 7/Vista on a USB flash drive? In other words would like to be able to use a USB flash drive in an emergency to boot into a multi boot computer using Windows 7/Vista.
I see where there is a way to create a Vista/XP multi boot USB repair disc but not one for Windows 7/Vista multi boot. Evidently the boot files for Vista/XP are different from the boot files for Windows 7/Vista. I have a 4GB flash drive that I would like to use.

Here's the scenario: I have a 1TB disk with several partitions on it.
#1: Primary partition with Vista on it.
#2: A 500GB primary partition used as storage/backup.
#3: A 50GB partition encrypted with Truecrypt, Logical drive
Now, I want to create a new Primary partition at the end of the drive, so I can install another copy of Windows 7. Notice my 500GB storage partition does not need to be Primary, but it is, and I cannot create any more Primary partitions. How can I change the storage partition to a logical drive, and have my new partition be Primary?
