Create Windows 7 Boot Disc?
Aug 24, 2011
Okay so I have searched online for how to create a Windows 7 Boot Disc, but to no avail. I have blank dvds, I have a legit operating system, and I have an activation code. I have no idea where to go from here and find boot files or installation files or create ISOs etc.

Is there a way (or tutorial) to create a repair disc for a multi boot Windows 7/Vista on a USB flash drive? In other words would like to be able to use a USB flash drive in an emergency to boot into a multi boot computer using Windows 7/Vista.
I see where there is a way to create a Vista/XP multi boot USB repair disc but not one for Windows 7/Vista multi boot. Evidently the boot files for Vista/XP are different from the boot files for Windows 7/Vista. I have a 4GB flash drive that I would like to use.

I have a new sata3 SSD drive on which I want to install Windows 7. The PC has an existing build of Windows 7 on a different disc which i want to reformat & use for data. I tried this previously and ended up with a dual booting system. Trying to remove the old Windows 7 installation and format that disc created much trouble so now I'm starting again, how to: Install Windows 7 on the new SSD disc (I'm assuming this will work ok as I've done it before), Have the system recognise only the new Windows 7 installation at boot & not the old Windows 7 installation so I don't have to select which OS to use, Reformat the old Windows 7 disc and remove any boot references that it might hold.

have a new Dell XPS desktop with Win7, and coming from XP I am somewhat confused about how to go about making a disc to reformat if necessary. There is this thing called "dell datasafe" on my computer, but it seems like some kind of stupid service that stores your pictures and such online, amongst some other things that aren't so clear. Anyway, I made a "recovery media disk" (took 2 dvd-R's) but I am not certain if this is what I really need. It claims to reset the computer to "factory conditions" whatever that is supposed to mean. Bottom line is, what I would like to be able to do in the event of a catastrophic virus, etc, is to COMPLETELY 100% REFORMAT my computer, similar to the way you delete the partition, create a new partition, and reinstall Win XP. I do not care one bit about saving files, pictures, and all that sort of thing - I just want to be able to do a clean sweep in the event that I need to.

So I have an bit of an odd and I think unique problem (as many searches came up with no solutions). Simply put, my boot manager is missing, but only when my windows install disc is not in the disc drive. It started several months ago and I just left it be, let the disc it int he disc drive and it was not that big of a deal. But just did a clean install couple days ago I re-installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my computer (using an upgrade disc if that makes a difference).I formatted the drive with what I guess is a quick format (the option the install disc gives you). I have tried doing a repair with the install disc but no problems are found every time I try.

I have Windows 7 64b with a Toshiba Portege R700. I cannot create a repair disk, I receive a parameter error. Like it doesn't recognize the CD drive. I tried un-hiding the administrator account and tried with that account but no luck either. I also tried to find the recovery folder with the cmd prompt but nada... it cannot open the boot configuration data store.

How do I create a reinstallation disc for W-7 which was preinstalled on my Lenovo computer? Note: this would be in case my hard drive fails so that I can reinstall W-7 on a new hard drive. My first computer came with the disc (Win-ME). My second computer had a procedure where I was prompted to create/burn a disc of W-XP when I first started the computer. This time - nothing. I contacted Lenovo and they said I would have to pay $40 for such a disc!! Isn't there some way I can do this myself for free? I asked Lenovo about creating a System Image disc but they said it wouldn't work because I couldn't boot from it. (Note: the computer did come with a CD which has the drivers on it).

My sister gave me her laptop to do some repairs. I have been working on this thing for more hours than I wish to admit (mostly scans running like the Ad-Ware scan that is now on hour 7). Between her, and her 2 kids using it its has too much going on that need to be removed. The Laptop has a Vista sticker on it but was upgrade and is running 7 Home Premium. She purchased it from her neighbor who she no longer associates with. So the odds of her getting the 7 Home Premium DVD from her are slim to none.I have went through and cleaned up most of the crap and am working on getting it to run a smooth as new (or better once de-crapped). can I create a restore disc once I get it to the point I am now that will be just as good as any restore disc?

My son is running Windows 7 Pro on a sad little 1 Gb RAM PC 3.4 GHz and of course it is somewhat underpowered and the PC is badly in need of a formatiing anyway..Problem is I can't get to a Format command anywhere??????I can get into BIOS OK, set the DVD as first boot option but when I save it (F10) and then it reboots, the screen always comes up with the "Start Windows Normally" option! I can reach the "boot from any CD/DVD option but for some weird option the arrows on the keyboard will not alow me to move away from this latter choice yet the board works fins with everything else.I can't get it to boot from the original Win 7 CD, Windows Vista or even Pro OS's ................ so of course again cannot get to the format command.I have created a System Recovery Disc but I am not 110% sure how to use this disc but nonetheless cannot seem to find an option for formatting there anyway.

I am unable to create a system repair / recovery disc by either running recDisc.exe or using the option to create a recovery disk in Backup and Retore. It says System Repair Disc could not be created. "The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057)". I have tried using both a blank CDr and a DVDr. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I am wondering if this is caused by how I setup my dual boot system.
I installed Win 7 to a clean HD first. I noted that it set up a 100 Mb recovery partition. I then realized there was no good way to convert this to a dual boot, so wiped the partitions and set up four news ones: one for XP, one for Windows 7, one for data, and a 133 Mb one in hopes that the installation process would find and use it for the recovery partition. I installed XP first, and then Windows 7 and directed that installation to the partition I had previously setup for it.

ok so years ago, i bought an Dell inspiron 1520 which i still have today. it came with a windows xp "re-installation disc" from microsoft, which does what it says, allows me to reinstall the OS. this is different from a "recovery disc" since it only installs the OS and not the factory settings and drivers, which is exactly what i like, a fresh install. i've used this disc to reformat and reinstall XP on multiple dell computers and even on HP and lenovo laptops as long as i had the genuine product key enterednow i just recently bought a asus laptop and it does not come with any windows reinstall disc at all..wth. i feel cheated because the money i paid for the laptop should include the OS itself, so they should have given me an OS disc. the asus laptop is running windows 7. now is there any way for me to make my own "re-installation Disc"

So originally when I bought my Laptop it was Windows Vista. A while ago I upgraded to Windows 7 by downloading the OS and a valid serial key form a third party distributor associated with my school. Next week I`m putting together a new desktop PC, and want to install Windows 7 on it. I have another valid serial key to use for the registration, however do not have a boot disc to use. Wil the System Restore Disc that I can create using the wizard on Win 7 be able to boot and load a new OS on my new desktop or will i have to create a boot disc another way. Also, I still have the original installation files saved in My Downloads, although not in .iso format but expanded and just saved as files.

I just created a system repair disc by clicking "Create a system repair disc" on my computer. The disc was successfully created, then I went to boot it up in VirtualBox and I get a Toshiba error: F3-F100-0003. How could this be? I don't think VirtualBox or the repair disc would have anything to do with Toshiba. I created this disc with a factory preinstallation of Windows 7 on a Toshiba laptop. Did Toshiba put a custom disc image on the computer which will be burned to the disc? Does VirtualBox use the host computers BIOS? (maybe not possible because there was a Windows 7 cursor in front of the error box) Does Microsoft use Toshiba technology in their repair discs?

I just got a new battery for my computer, because the old one died. When the old one died, it messed up the files on the hard drive. I used a windows xp pro installation disc to wipe the hard drive (or delete the partition), then set it as slave with another hard drive as master. Both hard drives are were wiped clean, nothing on them, and now the computer is actually running pretty fast. So, I tried to run the Windows 7 installation cd to install Windows 7 (Nyaha! Redundency!) to the new primary drive. Here's the problem. It won't boot the disc. I went to the BIOS and set it to boot the CD/ROM first, second, and last. It still won't boot the Windows 7 CD. Now, I have 3 CDs for Windows 7, my family has three different computers. I tried the 64 bit one, and the two 32 bit one's, but it will. Not. Work. It just does not boot any of them. It says "Boot Failure from Previous Device.

is it possible to make a Windows 7 boot disc from scratch? By scratch I mean, I want all the programs I currently have installed on my PC and some items in my secondary drives to be there too, in other words, can I take my current Windows AND the programs/items I have on my drives, and put them together as one installation, so that when I format my computer and reinstall Windows, my basic programs, like Photoshop, After Effects, etc, are still there, so there is no worry about downloading it? That's my main point, I have to install Windows 7 and the programs I have in like 30 computers, it would take forever if I ALSO have to download programs like Photoshop, I don't have the best internet in town anyways.
