No Bios, No Signal To Monitor?
Dec 25, 2011I have a eMachines ET1300-2 (yes, I know, emachines aren't great) running Win7 Ultimate.Specs: Newegg.com - eMachines ET1300-02 18.5" Desktop PC Athlon X2 4850e(2.5GHz) 3GB DDR2 160GB HDD Capacity NVIDIA GeForce G100 Windows Vista Home PremiumA family member shut it off last night but this morning it started once or twice but stopped sending signals to the monitor part way through each time. The other times I started to run it, it doesn't display any BIOS or anything, and it doesnt seem like anything is runnin except the fans and lights.I got it into safe mode initially at one point, but again, the signal to the monitor cut out and I have no idea what happened after that.Each time I power-button-ed it off.Things were running fine until recently; I did install AirDisplay (forgot there was no wifi - I'm used to my laptop which does).I think it is expected, but I tried to put in the recovery CD to boot from CD, but, of course, nothing displayed.

Apr 16, 2012My old monitor has problems turning on, I can leave it on for 30hrs before it decides to display a picture, or I can manipulate it by unplugging the DVI cable from the back, but sometimes even that takes a few tries. It's off warranty and for reference it's a Samsung SyncMaster 226BW.So I bought a new monitor and I have it plugged in using HDMI, but a problem I get is that when both monitors are plugged in the HDMI has no display until it gets to Windows, so I cannot see the boot process of my PC, because my old monitor as explained above has problems turning on. Was a hindrance today when I was tinkering with my SSD and had to go to BIOS, and frankly I'd like to be able to see in case anything goes wrong, like a BSOD or Windows update etc.

Sony Vaio Laptop Audio Output HDMI Not Working In Samsung Monitor T23A750
Dec 24, 2011I've recently purchased a Samsung T23A750 monitor and to my disappointment when I try to watch a movie the built in speakers are not functioning. I have a Sony Vaio Z216GX connected via HDMI to the monitor (HDMI-DVI) port. I can definitely see the video, but no audio is playing from the speakers. The built in speakers are not at fault- I did a self-diagnosis of the monitor and the speakers seem to work fine. I also set the monitor as the default for the audio and even when Win 7 says its functioning properly, the speakers still don't work. Conversely, setting the default to my PC speakers work fine. I'm sure its not the HDMI cable- I used the same one to hook my pc to my tv with everything working fine.

Apr 4, 2012my monitor exhibited signs of flickering during start-up, but only minor ones and would just stop at the 'Welcome' screen of windows so I didn't give it much thought. Iv'e been using it with the cpu the same time I bought the monitor.But after some time, the flickering got worse. It went from 1-2 second interval flickers to a whole 10 seconds of blackness before it showed anything.Now,Iv'e got a new cpu but still using the old monitor. But after a week, It got a hell worse, before I even start-up my computer, the monitor doesn't show Analog/Digital at the top-left corner of the screen. PLUS my cpu keeps restarting after I pushed the ON button after 10 seconds or so. Is the monitor responsible for the restart and what could be the reason for the flickering?

This screen is only up for two seconds before it flashes to the POST screen which then flashes into a screen that says "Loading Operating System". Then it loaded my OS.. Feb 21, 2012I've had this problem for a while on my new-ish computer, it's a full original build. Whenever I restart, or startup from shut down I have to enter the BIOS. It doesn't actually give me any option other than pressing F1 to go into setup. I've checked the order in BIOS in which it should try to boot from, changing it seems to have no effect whatsoever. When I try to start using Windows boot manager, it just goes into Startup repair and then fails to load at all. To get it to boot I have to enter advanced repair using a boot disc in my discdrive, then go to the memory diagnostic tool. Next I have to restart, enter windows boot manager and then cancel the memory test, it then puts me straight into the windows login screen?

Currently my boot order is: Windows boot manager > DVD drive > HDD
There's no option to put my SSD (which is where windows is actually installed) in that list for some reason, even though I can select it from the boot menu. When I do though I just get a black screen.

Feb 13, 2013When I built this computer back in the dark ages of 2007, I set it up to dual-boot Vista and XP. Every time I powered on, I'd get a prompt to boot into Vista or "older version of Windows," meaning XP. I'd pick one and go on my merry way. In 2011, I formatted the Vista drive, installed Windows 7, and deleted the XP install since I had XP mode in 7 if I needed compatibility. No more dual-boot prompt. I had no issues until last night, when I went shopping for a new hard drive. My motherboard, a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L, was running an old BIOS that has problems with drives of 1 TB or more. So in order to be sure I could use the drive I'm buying, I updated the BIOS to the latest revision, using Gigabyte's @BIOS utility to do it in-OS rather than through the boot menu.
When I rebooted, the system POSTed fine. But instead of booting Windows, it gave me the old choice between Vista or the "older version of Windows" - despite neither of those operating systems being present. If I tell the boot manager to do anything, it spits out an error since it can't find any OS files it recognizes. The BIOS itself seems to be fine - I'm writing this on the affected computer, running Ubuntu with a Live CD. I can see all the hard drives, open files, etc. I just don't know how to get the boot manager pointed at Windows 7 again.
Computer Doesn't Even Turn On BIOS?
Jan 26, 2012my mothers laptop (HP-2133 *Large Battery*) just stopped working.There have happened a couple of things, so I'll tell it one by one:- My mother turned on (From hibernation) her laptop one day, and the screen was green.:My thoughts: I thought that it might be the graphics card that had some kind of error on start up, so I just turned it off and on again. Then it ran like it used to. A few hours later the laptop had these random freezes, which made "Force-shutdown" the only possible way of rebooting.:My thoughts: I thought that this was perhaps a virus, but I never got the chance to run our Anti-virus (Kaspersky Antivirus PRO)- Now (two days later), when she/I tries/try to turn on the laptop, nothing happens... The laptop powers on, but doesn't actually run the HDD, or even the motherboard for that matter (Doesn't run the BIOS).
:My thoughts: I noticed that the only light that's on, is the power-light, (The HDD doesn't even blink). I also noticed that the screen doesn't even turn on, but the fans actually run (Most likely because the laptop is powered on)So I can imagine that the motherboard is dead, and in these couple of days, it's shown me that this is it's last days to live.But before I rip it apart and save the value parts, and scrap the rest, I would like to ask you guys for your opinion..
After Installing MSI Bios Computer Keeps Restarting?

"The system image restore failed. Windows cannot restore a system image to a computer that has different firmware. The system image was created on a Computer using EFI and this computer is using BIOS."
I thought this MB used EFI.
New BIOS Upgrade - Computer Freezes For About Two Minutes
Apr 13, 2012I just upgraded my bios yesterday, and now my computer reads all of my ram! Now things are acting kinda weird. When I first turn on the computer, is starts fine. Comes to the desktop screen fine. But then it kinda freezes for about two minutes. Can't do anything except open the task manager and play with the mouse. It won't even connect to the internet. Then when everything starts working again, it takes like 2 minutes literally for any web page to appear. I have checked with internet company twice, and both times they say there is no problem with the internet connection.

So my computer went into sleep mode.... its really hit or miss with this computer so when I finally get it back up and running, I will completely disable sleep mode.Sometimes i can click the mouse and it wakes up with no problem, but sometimes it would reboot on its own and just keep trying to boot and restart.... continuous boot loop.... so when i want to remedy this, I just clear the cmos by unplugging the power supply and disconnecting the cmos battery.... it always worked I tried to pull the battery and left it out for 60 minutes.. popped it back in and it won't let me get into bios. None of my keyboards will light up for me to hit delete to get into bios.... not even my PS2 keyboard.... it will just continue to turn on, and show the logo screen telling me to hit various keys for various functions and then it will reboot on its own and it will just continue to do this and will not let me hit a key to get into the BIOS screens

[code] My computer has been getting BSOD'S for several days after installing java 7 update 8.I somehow managed to get system back on it's track for few times with cd/usb booting but now, when i start it i just get a black screen no beeps at all and back, gpu and cpu fans are working on max.Tried reseting bios with clr cmos button and taking the bios battery out but nothing helps.I thought it could be hardware error and as there was black screen i suspected the gpu which was making problems before the fan came off so I replaced it with accelero l2 pro.I don't think it's the mobo problem because when i remove both ram sticks i get like 8 beeps until it restarts and everything repeats.But on the other hand how could it be hardware problem if comp autorecovered bios.I also thought about flashing the bios but the boot is set to floppy so i am not sure how would that work out.

Dec 28, 2011My friend recently gave me his HP desktop to take a look at. It came with phenom II quad core processor, 8gb of ddr3 ram, a 1.0 TB WD sata hdd, an integrated geforce nvidia 9100 graphics card, and a 300W psu. When I first turned it on, it booted up to the HP logo and froze there not allowing me to enter the BIOS. After resetting the BIOS I was able to get a slight way into the Windows 7 installation. I tried hooking up the hdd as an external to another desktop and it seemed to be working fine.
I deleted all partitions and reformatted it and tried again, same issue. I've tried with a second hard drive, which i know works, and it also gave the same freezing problem. I've also tried using a different psu which got me a little further into the installation but eventually froze and gave me 0x00000e9 hardware error. With no hard drive at all, it can boot a few times but will eventually freeze up at the logo screen, which led me to believe it might be an overheating problem.
I applied thermal paste to both the cpu and gpu heatsinks and on the first boot it froze during installation with the next few resulting in the same logo screen freeze. I've also realized the gpu heatsink is extremely hot to the touch and at one point, after numerous reboots, the display wouldn't even show. I don't wanna jump to the conclusion that the gpu is fried and buy a new motherboard without consulting anyone.

So i turned it off and repositioned theram.which now i wished i hadnt, i now get no signal from either of the computers.
