After Installing MSI Bios Computer Keeps Restarting?
Apr 10, 2012I just installed MSI Bios from Live Update and now it is on a restarting loop. It's about to go to the login screen then blacks out for a few seconds then makes this 2 second beep which it has never done before this update, and goes to windows error recovery and giving me two options: Launch startup repair (recommended) or start windows normally. I tried starting normally but it just loops and launching the startup repair doesn't help

The installation process ended succesfully. but the crach come after it. when i tried to turn on my computer, on screen, there appeared such massage: The bios could not installed, please press "g" . it seems i have no bios.

Aug 22, 2010I am having quite some trouble to install windows 7 on my new SSD drive. When I reboot without the old HDD the windows cd doesn't start up. So I tried to run the CD while under windows on the old HDD, which did work, but now I only have 8gig install on the SSD and its only a boot drive not a system one. Could it be that my motherboard is to old? I did have some issues to run the SSD alone, bios didn't recognise it quite often.
CPU - Core Duo E6500
Motherboard - Asus P5VD2-VM
RAM - 2 gig
old HDD - Samsung IDE 250 gig ( about 10y old )
new HDD - SSD Onyx 32gig + Samsung 1T both SATA

Aug 18, 2010I need to install either windows XP or windows 7 on my USB stick so I can boot my computer from the USB and use it like a normal installation. Articles I read tell you how to install Windows on a USB but not how to allow your computer to boot from the USB like it would be a HDD. I know how to set up my BIOS and I don't need an explanation in that respect I just need a step by step guide or at least a good guide on how to install either XP or 7 onto a USB, not from I've done that 1,000,000 times.

Nov 24, 2012Windows 7 wont install, I've tested the RAM I've tried it on my hard drive and SSD. I have installed windows XP and it works fine I am using the PC now.... Windows will install then it restarts and goes to the starting windows screen, turns black then restarts asks how I want to start windows. I tried safe mode I have updated BIOS I feel like I have tried everything and I can't get it to work. Nov 1, 2011I currently have an ASUS K53E that I've put a 60GB SSD into. I recently had to send out the laptop for service with ASUS, but I swapped the SSD for the original drive at that time (to save the chance they may re-format the drive).In any case, their repair apparently included a BIOS update... When I got the computer back, I naturally swapped the SSD back into the computer. Since then I've had numerous issues, the most prominent being that WLE stopped working (Every time I load Messenger it inexplicably stops working), and when I attempt to un-install it it will have a problem and abort the removal.With skype, I installed it fine, but it will launch, have a problem, then close! This is extremely frustrating..So really, my first thought is that there is a BIOS-update related issue, because the BIOS was flashed with the other drive in the laptop, and the installation on the SSD was installed/configured before the BIOS flash.Am I looking at a clean install of windows? Or could I get away with just a repair? I'd really prefer not to reinstall if I don't have to (Getting the OEM install on the SSD was hard enough in the first place).

Dec 5, 2010Long story short i have an Aspire One ZG5 with no SSD ribbon. Someone ripped out the ribbon and in the process damaged the connectors on both drive and motherboard. Any attempts to restore them were useless, even with a hot air rework station i could not solder new connectors in properly, they probably used infrared or wave soldering at the factory.
I need the thing to boot from a 16GB SDHC and the BIOS does NOT support such blasphemy. I can solder a small USB drive internally to act as a bootloader, but what do i put on it?
Basically i want to know whether something placed on a small USB drive can boot the thing and then transfer control to the SDHC, or if i'm better off buying a USB SDHC adapter and calling it a day.

Sep 16, 2012I recently bought a new AMD FX-8150 and installed it on my ASUS m5a97 mobo which has 24GB of ram. 2x4 and 2x8 of DDR3. Everything was moderately fine before I replaced my old CPU (AMD Phenom II x3) with the AMD fx-8150. After that, I couldn't play some of my games because apperently I needed to update my BIOS, which i recently did. thats when things got weird. I keep getting blue screens, mainly memory management so I ran a standard and extended windows memory diagnostic test and came up with no errors. I have not done prime or 86+ yet. I, personally, think there are some instability issues here despite the fact the cpu is on the supported list for my asus mobo. Also some other weird things have happened. My google chrome crashed in such a way that it corrupted my profile and i had to reinstall it and it would not save the favicons in my bookmarks bar. my xfire kept crashing, too. when i try uploading a file to the internet and browse to DESKTOP via a windows explorer window, chrome crashes. I've ran a full malyware scan with no threats and cleaned by registry with CCleaner, i do not know what else to do. I don't think reformatting will help since i believe this to be a hardware error.

Dec 28, 2011My friend recently gave me his HP desktop to take a look at. It came with phenom II quad core processor, 8gb of ddr3 ram, a 1.0 TB WD sata hdd, an integrated geforce nvidia 9100 graphics card, and a 300W psu. When I first turned it on, it booted up to the HP logo and froze there not allowing me to enter the BIOS. After resetting the BIOS I was able to get a slight way into the Windows 7 installation. I tried hooking up the hdd as an external to another desktop and it seemed to be working fine.
I deleted all partitions and reformatted it and tried again, same issue. I've tried with a second hard drive, which i know works, and it also gave the same freezing problem. I've also tried using a different psu which got me a little further into the installation but eventually froze and gave me 0x00000e9 hardware error. With no hard drive at all, it can boot a few times but will eventually freeze up at the logo screen, which led me to believe it might be an overheating problem.
I applied thermal paste to both the cpu and gpu heatsinks and on the first boot it froze during installation with the next few resulting in the same logo screen freeze. I've also realized the gpu heatsink is extremely hot to the touch and at one point, after numerous reboots, the display wouldn't even show. I don't wanna jump to the conclusion that the gpu is fried and buy a new motherboard without consulting anyone.

This screen is only up for two seconds before it flashes to the POST screen which then flashes into a screen that says "Loading Operating System". Then it loaded my OS.. Then i restarted my computer and tried to enter into BIOS again... This time I entered into BIOS.. Feb 21, 2012I've had this problem for a while on my new-ish computer, it's a full original build. Whenever I restart, or startup from shut down I have to enter the BIOS. It doesn't actually give me any option other than pressing F1 to go into setup. I've checked the order in BIOS in which it should try to boot from, changing it seems to have no effect whatsoever. When I try to start using Windows boot manager, it just goes into Startup repair and then fails to load at all. To get it to boot I have to enter advanced repair using a boot disc in my discdrive, then go to the memory diagnostic tool. Next I have to restart, enter windows boot manager and then cancel the memory test, it then puts me straight into the windows login screen?

Currently my boot order is: Windows boot manager > DVD drive > HDD
There's no option to put my SSD (which is where windows is actually installed) in that list for some reason, even though I can select it from the boot menu. When I do though I just get a black screen.

Feb 13, 2013When I built this computer back in the dark ages of 2007, I set it up to dual-boot Vista and XP. Every time I powered on, I'd get a prompt to boot into Vista or "older version of Windows," meaning XP. I'd pick one and go on my merry way. In 2011, I formatted the Vista drive, installed Windows 7, and deleted the XP install since I had XP mode in 7 if I needed compatibility. No more dual-boot prompt. I had no issues until last night, when I went shopping for a new hard drive. My motherboard, a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L, was running an old BIOS that has problems with drives of 1 TB or more. So in order to be sure I could use the drive I'm buying, I updated the BIOS to the latest revision, using Gigabyte's @BIOS utility to do it in-OS rather than through the boot menu.
When I rebooted, the system POSTed fine. But instead of booting Windows, it gave me the old choice between Vista or the "older version of Windows" - despite neither of those operating systems being present. If I tell the boot manager to do anything, it spits out an error since it can't find any OS files it recognizes. The BIOS itself seems to be fine - I'm writing this on the affected computer, running Ubuntu with a Live CD. I can see all the hard drives, open files, etc. I just don't know how to get the boot manager pointed at Windows 7 again.
Computer Doesn't Even Turn On BIOS?
Jan 26, 2012my mothers laptop (HP-2133 *Large Battery*) just stopped working.There have happened a couple of things, so I'll tell it one by one:- My mother turned on (From hibernation) her laptop one day, and the screen was green.:My thoughts: I thought that it might be the graphics card that had some kind of error on start up, so I just turned it off and on again. Then it ran like it used to. A few hours later the laptop had these random freezes, which made "Force-shutdown" the only possible way of rebooting.:My thoughts: I thought that this was perhaps a virus, but I never got the chance to run our Anti-virus (Kaspersky Antivirus PRO)- Now (two days later), when she/I tries/try to turn on the laptop, nothing happens... The laptop powers on, but doesn't actually run the HDD, or even the motherboard for that matter (Doesn't run the BIOS).
:My thoughts: I noticed that the only light that's on, is the power-light, (The HDD doesn't even blink). I also noticed that the screen doesn't even turn on, but the fans actually run (Most likely because the laptop is powered on)So I can imagine that the motherboard is dead, and in these couple of days, it's shown me that this is it's last days to live.But before I rip it apart and save the value parts, and scrap the rest, I would like to ask you guys for your opinion..

"The system image restore failed. Windows cannot restore a system image to a computer that has different firmware. The system image was created on a Computer using EFI and this computer is using BIOS."
I thought this MB used EFI.
New BIOS Upgrade - Computer Freezes For About Two Minutes
Apr 13, 2012I just upgraded my bios yesterday, and now my computer reads all of my ram! Now things are acting kinda weird. When I first turn on the computer, is starts fine. Comes to the desktop screen fine. But then it kinda freezes for about two minutes. Can't do anything except open the task manager and play with the mouse. It won't even connect to the internet. Then when everything starts working again, it takes like 2 minutes literally for any web page to appear. I have checked with internet company twice, and both times they say there is no problem with the internet connection.

So my computer went into sleep mode.... its really hit or miss with this computer so when I finally get it back up and running, I will completely disable sleep mode.Sometimes i can click the mouse and it wakes up with no problem, but sometimes it would reboot on its own and just keep trying to boot and restart.... continuous boot loop.... so when i want to remedy this, I just clear the cmos by unplugging the power supply and disconnecting the cmos battery.... it always worked I tried to pull the battery and left it out for 60 minutes.. popped it back in and it won't let me get into bios. None of my keyboards will light up for me to hit delete to get into bios.... not even my PS2 keyboard.... it will just continue to turn on, and show the logo screen telling me to hit various keys for various functions and then it will reboot on its own and it will just continue to do this and will not let me hit a key to get into the BIOS screens

[code] My computer has been getting BSOD'S for several days after installing java 7 update 8.I somehow managed to get system back on it's track for few times with cd/usb booting but now, when i start it i just get a black screen no beeps at all and back, gpu and cpu fans are working on max.Tried reseting bios with clr cmos button and taking the bios battery out but nothing helps.I thought it could be hardware error and as there was black screen i suspected the gpu which was making problems before the fan came off so I replaced it with accelero l2 pro.I don't think it's the mobo problem because when i remove both ram sticks i get like 8 beeps until it restarts and everything repeats.But on the other hand how could it be hardware problem if comp autorecovered bios.I also thought about flashing the bios but the boot is set to floppy so i am not sure how would that work out.

Dec 27, 2010I just recently built a new computer myself, and am trying to put Windows 7 on it. I downloaded Windows 7 Pro with the student discount from the MS website as an ISO file. I keep being told to burn the ISO file to a DVD +R and install it that way, but for some reason when I downloaded it from the MS website it downloaded as a ZIP file and now I don't know what to do. The ZIP file is an ISO, so should I burn it to a DVD +R anyway or do I need to do something else?
Edit: Basically I just need to now if I can just burn the Zip file to the DVD because it is also an ISO file.

Jan 26, 2012I manage a computer lab at a school. We are currently using Windows XP, and we want to migrate to Windows 7. Students use their unique network ID's to log in. This means that every time a student comes in to the computer, he or she is a new user, as far as the computer is concerned. I need to set these machines so they don't ask all the first time user questions every time a student logs in. In XP, this was relatively easy. I created a default profile, and everyone logging in saw exactly the same thing. With Windows 7, this is not so easy. I can still create a default profile, but settings specific to many applications do not get copied. So when a user opens Internet Explorer, he has to answer the set up questions, or he sees the "Welcome to..." screens that many programs like to show first-time users. I need to eliminate all of this. So, how do I set up the environment so that when a user logs in for the first time, everything is already configured, and the software doesn't make him jump through a bunch of hoops?

Jan 3, 2013I have bought a new computer without an Operating System. I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and the intention was to install the OS myself. I uncoupled the old creaky PC and connected up (correctly) the new PC. I pressed the start button and opened the DVD drive and placed in the Windows 7 Pro 64 bit installation disc, there was a lot of noise as the HDD started to operate and I thought that the DVD disc was working too. All the time there was nothing on the Monitor. I checked the connections and all was properly connected. I realised that I didn't know why the PC wasn't installing the OS. The PC is an Ankermann Wildcat Gamer, Intel i7, 1 TB HDD, 4x3,40GHZ, NVIDIA GeForce GTX660 2048MB.
