Are Fans Not Spinning Correctly Or Is Room Temperature Really Important For A Laptop
Jul 12, 2011
I just cleaned my laptop and it released a lot of dust, so my temperature is lower. The weather is currently very, very, very hot and my laptop is running 55-60C normally when i browse the internet, in a very hot room. Before i cleaned it - it was very hotter. I'm even sweating and i don't wear a shirt. But that's not the point. I i am running prime95 to test the processor, and after 1 minute of 100% usage it gets to 90C in the hot room again. But when i go to a clearly cold room, it doesn't turn off, it barely reaches 80-85C but never the maximum 90C.are the fans not spinning correctly or is the room temperature really important for a laptop?
Lately my PC has been weird, whenever i launch any game my computer just turns off but in a verry unusual way, The Screen goes black, the pc fans stop spinning, nothing is working, but my power button is still bright blue (showing that the pc is still on but its not), i press the button, nothing happens and if i un-plug the power cable, the power button stays on for about 10 seconds, then when i plug the power cable back in the pc turns on just normally like every time, but i still get crash if i launch a game, this is my pc Configuration: [code] This has been happening for a couple months now and its getting verry annoying, i'm thinking of buying a gaming PC but that costs 3,000 and i need a good working PC while i save up money.I have reinstalled Windows a few weeks after the problem accoured, it did not fix it. I also updated all my drivers, still not working...
I don't know if i accidentally pressed cleared room or sell, my living room just disappeared while buying new room , please help me some of my stuffs are there too and they are gone too.
I have wifi connection my asus laptop cannot access it when iam in my room upstairss but my ipod can ,, what shall i do to my asus laptop.. it cn access wifi when iam in the sofa but when i go up to my room no internet connection
just noticed few day now that there is no sound at all coming from my laptop.and also noticed the heat underneath sometimes its to hot to put hand there for more than a second.that cant be right.so i guessed my fans stopped working. i used a program to check my fan speed and it confirmed what i thought. they have stopped, no idea why though.this is screen shot of the program with the results.
I suddenly get this BSOD on my laptop this morning . It was fine for 4 months . Then my little brother plays some games ( Torchlight 2 , some mini games from Popcap ) The laptop gets BSOD .
Ive got a Packard Bell laptop but have just noticed that it only starts up intermittently.Mostly I just get 'Windows is starting' and thats it - just a black screen. I have to shut it down and then it starts up in safe mode repairing the incorrect shut down i imagine.
Occasionally my Laptop (Windows 7, 3gb RAM, Compaq Presario CCQ61) doesn't boot up correctly. As in normally the problem is ''Windows cannot find an OS'' thats not the exact wording but somewhere along the lines, its a blue screen and there is also some other writing underneath. I tap the off button to turn off and then i turn on again, sometimes it boots up fine and works good but sometime like it says run system repair (reccomended) so you do and it go's through steps and tells you to do a system restore which I do then it does work...but then maybe a week later you will open the lid and it won't respond (the mouse won't move and you have to hold the power button the turn it off., its starting to get annoying at this stage, considering restoring to factory settings.
just started cropping up about 2 days ago. For some reason, when I use my laptop on battery, the screen will go completely dark after about a minute of use. This most recently happened this morning. The first time this happened, I just held down my power button, and then turned the laptop on after a minute's wait. On that occasion, the laptop started up again, and it seemed to be waking up from hibernate or something.
But this morning, when I held down the power button and tried to turn it on again, it wouldn't. I plugged in my charger, and then the laptop was able to resume Windows, but the weirdest thing is, it said my battery was at 0%. The reason that seems odd to me is because it was fully charged last night. Right before the random screen turnoff, I checked my battery status, and it said 94%. So why did it go down to 0% after a minute and a half of use?
Now that my laptop is on, and connected to the charger, it is fully charged after about 10 minutes. Is it Windows 7? Or is it my laptop? The laptop will be 3 years old this November. Working on battery hasn't been a problem except for these past few days, and I haven't installed any new programs, or altered any settings that I'm aware of.
I use Windows 7 Home Premium. Only 3 months in use. When checking the remaining available room on my HD, I found from the one to the other day that there was a drop of 6 GB. I did not install "heavy" programms.
Just wanted some opinions on some cpu fans for my socket 939 Athlon X2 5000 cpu. It's running pretty hot just at stand still about 135 deg. F. At 100 percent load can get to 189 deg. F.
I'm trying to put stuff from VCR tapes onto DVDs. I've put them from my VCR tapes to my pc using dazzle. Then I drag them on to go on to DVDs. It was working fine, then something happened. Now as soon as I drag even a short video onto a blank DVD a message pops up that I don't have enough space
I recently upgraded to windows 7 on all 3 of my home computers and i am loving it so far. There is 1 problem i can't solve myself and it has to do with my home server freezing up whenever another computer in my home network stream a dvd (or sometime even a small divx) movie from it.Strange thing is, the same setup worked flawlessly when i had vista on all my computers so that rules out that its any hardware issue (maybe a driver issue from nic or something?) PC1 where i think the problem is.My main computer with al the media on it im going refer to as server, this pc has Win 7 Ultimate x64 installed on it, intel core2duo E6850 @3,0Ghz, 4 gigs DDR2 memory and an Asus P5K motherboard. All my media is on a shared drive on this pc and all other pc's can access it through my home network. PC2 the one i use to watch movies. My 2nd pc is in the livingroom and hooked up to my flatpannel tv, this pc ill refer to as my mediacenter. This pc has windows 7 ultimate x32 installed. It has an Intel Pentium 4 3.4 CPU, 2 gigs DDR2 memory and an Abit AB9 Quad GT motherboard. My network settings. My home network is completely wired (no wireless devices whatsoever) and all connected through a netgear FVG318 Router. There is no password on sharing and every setting in my home network is set to share everything with all others in my network, so all if freely accessible. As said all my media is hosted on my server computer, there are DVD's divx movies and some music and pictures.Whenever i try to watch a DVD on my mediacenter the movie freezes, sometimes already in the titlescreen but also sometimes 5, 10 or even 30 minutes into the movie. The freezes are completely random i guess. The mediacenter workes fine after a freeze, only error i get is that it cannot connect to my server. When i goto my server i at first noticed that my network connection was lost on my server. After some trial and error i found out when i disable my networkcard on the server and after enabled it agian i could continue watching my movie on the mediacenter but it the freeze kept happening. Then i thought it might be a power save setting so i made a powersave scheme where nothing turns off, no hibernation and not even the display turns off. Also i changed some setting in the network card on my server telling it that it could not be turned off to save power. After all this done when i watch a DVD now on my mediacenter my whole server just freezes after a while.I still see the desktop screen and my mouse mointer but i cant move it, no error msge its just a frozen screen.I also browser my system logs and looked for errors around the time the freezes occur but i cant find anything related. the only errors i see are after the system halted. The log stated the system has been shut down unexpecedly (couse i pressed the off button) and after it restarts i see i couple of performance index errors (WmiApRpl).
This is on my old PC and im trying to fix it but im not sure if the mobo is no good or the psu or what. The PC can power on as well as the fans but maybe 5-10 seconds later the fans turn off and there is no display on the screen but the PSU fan is still going.
My C: drive only has 45.4GB TOTAL. While I have two other drives, D(has 2TB) and E(has 500GB). My problem is, everything is installing into C drive automatically. How do I change this?
- I tried switching the drive letters but there's always the "Parameter is incorrect" error(probably because they run the computer).
-Tried going to regedit and editing microsoftwindowscurrentversionprogramfilesdir (also tried editing other files but I attempted to install a program, did not change the installation directory)What do I do? I can't install any program that automatically installs into C drive (for example skype).
I've seen this somewhere, but I can't for the life of me find it again. There is a way of setting only certain remotes to work with certain PCs so they don't interfere with others. I have my HTPC and laptop in the same room, both with IR receivers - whenever I use the remote for my PC, the laptop ends up with all the signals too, and I come back to find it's playing a video or something.
Does anyone here know where that tutorial/registry setting is to change remote control channels?
I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional on a 60GB OCZ Vertex 3 and the drive is down to a remaining 15GB out of 55.7 total available space. This is confusing because my last several installs of the exact same OS on the exact same size drives took up much less space. Even after installing several programs like Photoshop and Office, I still had 24GB to spare on my last install with a 60GB Agility 2.
Have a Packard Bell imedia A3622 with windows 7. Have a black screen after turning on but fans running. On/off switch just flashing. Earlier it came onto a screen asking me to select method for turning on but then this goes to black screen. What to do next ?
my computer turns ON, but makes less noise than it used to when working, and just shows a black screen...doesn't even enter bios.Recent changes: Ok, I installed a new Graphics card, radeon hd 5450, installed the drivers etc, got it working perfectly. Then a short while after I also downloaded a reputable program called watt 2.2.5 to clear my windows non genuine message. Then shortly after both, I was changing my theme, and the computer screen just went blank. Even keyboard wasn't working (I was pressing "caps" to see if caps light would come on and it didn't). So I powered off, now I just keep getting black screen!
I recently bought a new cisco e2000 router and had no problem connecting to it on all the devices in the house (about 10 of them)Just now, all the devices in my room (ipod, netbook, phone, and laptop) lost a connection to the router and no matter where I am in the house none of these 4 devices can get a connection. I can see other networks, just not mine. They all worked perfectly fine before, and out of nowhere they stopped working. Other devices that were not in my room at the time of this 'wifi surge' still have a connection to the router. The wired connection works and that's how I'm typing this right now.
I shut down windows 7, and it seems to, but the computer fans / lights / drives /Ram all still have power. I tried searching my power options and making sure everything was set properly, etc. I even re-flashed my bios. I didn't make any major changes like add new hardware / software, only some windows updates that I've now rolled-back. It looks like one or two people just had to adjust a power setting, but that does not seem to be my issue. I don't want to re-install windows.

I have an issue where the spinning blue circle that (I suppose) indicates the system is thinking shows up every 10 seconds or so, no matter what I'm doing. I was advised that McAfee antivirus was a likely culprit b/c it often doesn't play well with others. I uninstalled it and went with a freeware solution instead, but the issue remains. [code] My system idle process is at 98, which I understand is a good thing. Also, I read all about SearchIndexer and changed the settings so that there's no unneccessary drag on resources. Question: Is it normal to see processes duplicated like this? My stats: Pentium Dual-Core E5500 2.8 Ghz, 6.00Gb Memory, Windows 7 Home 64-bit. I don't "do" much with the computer, the 1tb hdd is only about 10% used.
I have an annoying little problem when my computer is turned on the fans start but the green light in the front is just flashing. I can get it to boot if i push the other button which is set to turn on off sleep but it takes a random amount of times before it works. I'm wondering if reinstall of win 7 will do the trick.Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.1OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional , 64 bitProcessor: AMD Phenom(tm) 9950 Quad-Core Processor, AMD64 Family 16 Model 2 Stepping 3Processor Count: 4RAM: 8191 MbGraphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT, 1024 MbHard Drives: C: Total - 305242 MB, Free - 146202 MB; Motherboard: BIOSTAR Group, A740G M2+, 6.0, None
Earlier today my dad turned on our computer to a blue screen. It told him to restart the computer if he had never seen it before, and he did. However, we cannot get it to start back up. When we press the power button, the fan runs (harder than usual), but the monitor stays asleep.
I plan on upgrading my case to a Bitfenix Shinobi, and when I get the new case I would also like to revise my cooling. In the front of my Antec Three Hundred I currently have 2 Silverstone Air Penetrators. These fans are rated for low CFM, but due to their design channel air far more effectively, their description is like a concentrated cylinder of moving air, rather than a spread out outwards cone of weaker air movement.I would use them as front mounted intake fans, except they are the LED version, and give the best visual effect I have seen (the whole fan blade circle is strongly lit with blue light, rather than conventional LED fans with strips of strength with fading light levels further away from the LEDs mounted in the frame, this is because in Air Penetrators the LEDs are mounted in the centre bearing). Because of their stunning visuals, I would rather have them visable, meaning in the top mounted fan brackets, but this means they would be functioning as exhaust fans (who mounts intake fans on the top of their case anyway?).I am unsure however because their airflow is far lower than many fans (only about 35 CFM, you can check it here: SilverStone Technology Co., Ltd.- AP121-L), does anyone have experience or the know to tell me weather these would be effective exhaust fans? To help them I would look at some serious intake fans to help push air though, but my main concern right now is the effectiveness of the fans I already own as exhaust.
Someone brought me their laptop yesterday, not usually my kinda thing to do repairs but I thought it was gonna be a software issue but no constant BSoDs on Vista so I figured I'd install 7 which worked fine for a bit but it was still playing up given it was a fresh install and then some more blue screens! I ran Windows Memory Diagnostic and it said there were errors within seconds but I couldn't get back onto 7 to view them. This morning I cleaned it out and swapped the memory to the other port but the screen wouldn't even switch on then, so I put it back and made sure it was seated properly and ran memory diagnostic again and no errors! Success! The only thing is, the fan isn't spinning it spins for about 5 seconds but then nothing and I imagine soon enough it'll overheat.
has anyone else noticed their external usb drives spinning down more often with windows 7? power management setting is set to high performance and to never turn off hard drives. i didnt see this issue under vista. having to wait those few seconds for the drive to spin back up when i access the drive frustrates me!!
