Wrong System Time After Switching Off?
May 27, 2012
Seems every time after power down and on again the next day, the system time and/or date are wrong. Noticed it first when Kaspersky software complained about being out of date right after updating. This doesnt seem to happen as long as the machine is left on. What could cause that? The machine is only a few months old. Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1, 64-bit Intel Core i3-2100 CPU, 3.1GHz, RAM 8G

Warning: the following descriptions involve time travel - you may or may not go cross-eyed. This gets complicated, so follow closely.Windows (7, 64bit, build 7600) Explorer is showing a -6 hour difference in time from my actual file date. This is NOT simply the time difference between my computer (in Central time zone) and the server (on Eastern time). Explorer is ignoring the server's time stamp and subtracting exactly 6 hours from the time of the what the server should say. I know this because I'm also looking at the exact same folder and files using XP and the time stamps are exactly as they should be. I modified a file locally (on Windows 7) and copied it up to the server. The time stamp local is 9:36a. The time stamp on the server should be 10:36a, but instead it says 4:36a. So, I copied a file from the server back to here and it reports locally 6 hours later (10:38a) than what is on the server (4:38a). Looking at the exact same files through explorer on XP shows that the time should have been 10:38a.
If it wasn't for time showing correctly on XP, I'd assume it was a problem at the server, but there seems to be something in either the display of time, or in the way it sends the file's time-stamp.And now I'm testing it on another ftp server, which I think has their time set to UTC (my 10:00a is their 4:00p). Using XP, I create a brand new file locally, and transmit it to this server. It initially appears with the same timestamp as the original file (10:16a). I then do a refresh of the server list (in XP) and it jumps forward 6 hours (4:16p). I look at this server with Windows 7 and it shows that the file has a timestamp of 10:16a. So I copy that file (using Windows 7) to its local drive and it tells me that the timestamp is 4:16p (later today).

I just did a fresh install of Win7 Pro 64bit and it won't allow me to change my time zone or region. It has the time zone set to International Date Line West and the Region is set to Africa. When I try to change it it just rolls back. I tried installing Win7 Ult x64 and the same thing happened. This is really getting frustrating and I can't seem to find anyr it.I checked my BIOS and the date and time are correct for where I am, ESTWhen I try to install a program like Avast where you choose the language it automatically selects some other language like an Arabic or something that doesn't even use English letters.

I am using windows vista 32-bit SP2 home premium. I want to switch my operating system to 64 bit because I will be using the computer for digital painting, and the colors are said to be better on a 64-bit system. I have no idea how to switch operating systems, do you delete all your data in the process or is it like installing installing a new software? My current computer has 4 gigabytes of ram. The processor is Intel Core quad 2 Q8300 2.50GHz.so, I read that Linux is free and is as good as windows. Is this true?

I spilt some water on my laptop a few days ago but fortunately it's completely dried out and working perfectly.... apart from this minor (but important) issue.
Problem: the system time does not stay correct. Even after manually updating the BIOS time and also even after manually syncing it with the various servers available under the time options.
Fix: set the internet time sync interval to every minute rather than its default setting? How do I do this?
P.S. This couldn't be a CMOS battery issue surely because even when the system is on and plugged in the system time still deviates from correct. (I assume the CMOS battery is only used when the system is powered off.) If I need it replaced, how does that sit with my Dell hardware warranty?

How can I stop the wrong operating system from starting?, downloading the software from softpedia. When I opened it, there was immediately an option to alter the startup settings so I deleted vista and set windows 7 to default. Now, when I turn on thhe put, it automatically tries and fails to start vista, with no option to start 7 (meaning I can't use my computer). I've scoured the bios for something to do but can't find anything. Also, I've tried putting in the disc I used to install with, but the same messages come up, even when I say boot from CD and not the HDD!

I have a Netgear WN111 USB wireless adaptor on my PC (802.11n NIC). It works fine with my WiFi network, but it always displays the wrong icon in the System Tray when connected. It shows the signal bars greyed out, with a yellow star on top. I have tried a Windows update on the driver, but Windows (7 ultimate) says it's using the latest driver.
Netgear only have a Vista driver for this NIC, tried this to no avail, same problem. I have no other NICs enabled on the box (wired Ethernet port disabled in BIOS and nothing in Device Manager). I have googled this issue and I'm not alone (and it's not just Netgear NICs affected). However all the solutions say remove & re-install the device. Done this, and it's made no difference.

get windows 7 to switch audio drivers when you switch to another user account.
For eg.. normal speakers device for my personal account and then have my multichannel device (profire 2626) set as default for my other user account 4 studio work.
Atm, if i change it on one account it changes on the other account which is annoying and i'd just like to set default device for each account so i don't have to do this.

I am having an issue with my system time. After reboot it reverts back a few hours. During the day it will also stop and freeze on a curtain time. If I install a third party time sync program it works ok. I have checked the Internet time server and it is turned on. I also set the net time server to automatic instead of manual.

I tried to set up a dual boot system ( Vista Ultimate and Win 7 Pro) this aft and my computer he miraged and froze up. Finally got it working again but I don't know how, just luck. I followed the recommendations and made copy of Win 7 on ISO disk, I think it works but I'm not sure, and I unplugged the drive which has Vista on it and tried to boot. My computer froze solid even before it loaded OS file. Why do I need to unplug my C: drive? Is that the only way to do a clean install?

So I've got an ASRock motherboard that's about 3 months old and I'm running Windows 7. Earlier today, I started having a strange problem with the system time changing randomly. At first, I thought it was just a daylight savings time issue, so I disabled the automatic updating for daylight savings time. The problem still persisted. I also tried disabling the automatic time synchronization, but that didn't fix the problem either. I thought it may have been the CMOS battery, so I rebooted and checked the time in the bios. The bios shows the correct time/date. The only incorrect time and date is shown in Windows itself. After this, I tried updating the synchronization task to run every 5 minutes, but the clock is still changing to a different time. The time change is random, from around an hour to up to six or seven hours. The date doesn't change, just the time. My timezone is correct, and as the problem persisted without having automatic adjust for daylight savings time enabled, I can't see that it's the problem.Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? About the only idea I have left is some sort of virus. But AVG and Malwarebytes haven't picked anything up. Is there some kind of software that gets auto-installed that can screw with system time?

There are now several ways of locking a computer to block things like internet surfing during a specific time period. I have unfortunately found a problem. All that one needs to do to defeat these programs is to change the system time. I use Kaspersky which allows blocking applications from operating. Is the system time controlled by an accessible software so that it could be blocked from being changed?

My ISP lmits my download to almost nothing, except for three hours in the early morning. I have a monitor in my notification area that tells how many MB I have left (this is from the ISP), and during the day with nothing running my MB slowly drops. I installed NetBalancer, to see where all the download was going, and all I can find downloading is Windows Update, and System Resources. At least for the most part that is.So my question is, Is there any way to limit Windows Update, and other Windows Systems to downloading only during those three hours? I have Windows Update setting set to only Install at 4:00am. But it still downloads during the day. So is there any thing I can do, a reg edit, or something?

I ran a CHKDSK /R on the external drive and tried making a system image again, where it got about halfway and gave me the same message. What is going wrong every time?

I'm not talking about a clicking the 2 boxes next to the close[X] button in the top right corner, I mean literally clicking on a side of a window and dragging it to enlarge it will freeze the system. I've also been having random freezing and random rebooting issues ( no BSOD) for the past couple of weeks and unfortunately haven't been able to dedicate enough time to diagnose the problem. I'm hoping the recent discovery of this very specific cause to a system crash will possibly lead to the culprit of my problems.- Ran Memtest86 - No problems found- Prime95 - Temps seems stable while its running but wont make it past the 5-10 minute mark before freezing.- Bios up to date- GPU driver is up to date (anything else need to be up to date driver wise?)- Tried switching RAM posistion between both slots, timings are within spec
