View 2 RepliesI spilt some water on my laptop a few days ago but fortunately it's completely dried out and working perfectly.... apart from this minor (but important) issue.
Problem: the system time does not stay correct. Even after manually updating the BIOS time and also even after manually syncing it with the various servers available under the time options.
Fix: set the internet time sync interval to every minute rather than its default setting? How do I do this?
P.S. This couldn't be a CMOS battery issue surely because even when the system is on and plugged in the system time still deviates from correct. (I assume the CMOS battery is only used when the system is powered off.) If I need it replaced, how does that sit with my Dell hardware warranty?
About a month after I started using it, the Say the Time clock program I bought stopped launching the management menu when I right click the date/time field in the task tray (notification area).
Therefore, I can't use or edit the program. Neither the touchpad nor the cordless mouse works.
Other than this problem, my computer works great. Every single item that's meant to be right clicked works for me.
Is there a way I can generate a log to show the software manufacturer (Provenio) that it's their problem and not mine? I am a novice user but I can follow instructions. However, I don't want to put my computer at risk if I make an entry error.
I've been using computers for 18 years and I've never had this problem until I bought this software and used it for about a month.
I just wanted a conclusive way of putting the ball back in the manufacturer's court.
So I bought a new desktop computer about 2 weeks ago and ever since I got it, it's been freezing (locking) up on me at random times. I currently use Windows 7 64-bit. I put in a new graphics card and new memory sticks just the other day and I got the same freezing problem. It's very random. I can be surfing the web and the next thing you know, the whole thing freezes up. I can't move the mouse. Can't do CTRL ALT DEL. Can't do anything. Seems as if the whole computer locks up. The only way to restart the computer is by manually holding in the power button for a few seconds. So since I replaced graphics card and installed new memory, I was thinking it may be something else causing this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSeems every time after power down and on again the next day, the system time and/or date are wrong. Noticed it first when Kaspersky software complained about being out of date right after updating. This doesnt seem to happen as long as the machine is left on. What could cause that? The machine is only a few months old. Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1, 64-bit Intel Core i3-2100 CPU, 3.1GHz, RAM 8G
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with my system time. After reboot it reverts back a few hours. During the day it will also stop and freeze on a curtain time. If I install a third party time sync program it works ok. I have checked the Internet time server and it is turned on. I also set the net time server to automatic instead of manual.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI tried to set up a dual boot system ( Vista Ultimate and Win 7 Pro) this aft and my computer he miraged and froze up. Finally got it working again but I don't know how, just luck. I followed the recommendations and made copy of Win 7 on ISO disk, I think it works but I'm not sure, and I unplugged the drive which has Vista on it and tried to boot. My computer froze solid even before it loaded OS file. Why do I need to unplug my C: drive? Is that the only way to do a clean install?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I've got an ASRock motherboard that's about 3 months old and I'm running Windows 7. Earlier today, I started having a strange problem with the system time changing randomly. At first, I thought it was just a daylight savings time issue, so I disabled the automatic updating for daylight savings time. The problem still persisted. I also tried disabling the automatic time synchronization, but that didn't fix the problem either. I thought it may have been the CMOS battery, so I rebooted and checked the time in the bios. The bios shows the correct time/date. The only incorrect time and date is shown in Windows itself. After this, I tried updating the synchronization task to run every 5 minutes, but the clock is still changing to a different time. The time change is random, from around an hour to up to six or seven hours. The date doesn't change, just the time. My timezone is correct, and as the problem persisted without having automatic adjust for daylight savings time enabled, I can't see that it's the problem.Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? About the only idea I have left is some sort of virus. But AVG and Malwarebytes haven't picked anything up. Is there some kind of software that gets auto-installed that can screw with system time?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThere are now several ways of locking a computer to block things like internet surfing during a specific time period. I have unfortunately found a problem. All that one needs to do to defeat these programs is to change the system time. I use Kaspersky which allows blocking applications from operating. Is the system time controlled by an accessible software so that it could be blocked from being changed?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy ISP lmits my download to almost nothing, except for three hours in the early morning. I have a monitor in my notification area that tells how many MB I have left (this is from the ISP), and during the day with nothing running my MB slowly drops. I installed NetBalancer, to see where all the download was going, and all I can find downloading is Windows Update, and System Resources. At least for the most part that is.So my question is, Is there any way to limit Windows Update, and other Windows Systems to downloading only during those three hours? I have Windows Update setting set to only Install at 4:00am. But it still downloads during the day. So is there any thing I can do, a reg edit, or something?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not talking about a clicking the 2 boxes next to the close[X] button in the top right corner, I mean literally clicking on a side of a window and dragging it to enlarge it will freeze the system. I've also been having random freezing and random rebooting issues ( no BSOD) for the past couple of weeks and unfortunately haven't been able to dedicate enough time to diagnose the problem. I'm hoping the recent discovery of this very specific cause to a system crash will possibly lead to the culprit of my problems.- Ran Memtest86 - No problems found- Prime95 - Temps seems stable while its running but wont make it past the 5-10 minute mark before freezing.- Bios up to date- GPU driver is up to date (anything else need to be up to date driver wise?)- Tried switching RAM posistion between both slots, timings are within spec
