Jun 3, 2012I recently installed Windows 7 on my wifes computer and it keeps crashing while web browsing and reopening. I am posting an event log to hopefully clarify this error.

View 1 RepliesComputer will shut down when browsing the web then restart on its own. This started about 6 months ago, just once in a while, but seems to be more frequent now. My event log for two days is listed below.
OS- Windows 7 64 bit
Inspiron 560
Intel (R) core 2 quad cpu

I have just built a brand-new rig from entirely new parts 2 days ago, and at random times when I'm browsing the web, my screen goes black, and nothing responds. After restarting my computer, this problem persists, although never on the same pages. I run Windows 7 SP1, and have all the new updates. I use chrome as my browser, but it has never done this to me before on any of my previous computers.
My PC specs are as follows:
i5 3570K
Xigmatek Dark Knight Cooler
Asus PZ77-V LK MOBO
8GB Corsair Vengance DDR3/1600 RAM
MSI HD7770 Power Edition OC 1GB/GDDR5
1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM HDD
Seasonic S12II Bronze 620W PSU
Samsung DVD/CD Burner
NZXT Phantom 410 Mid-Tower Chassis
Although I do not believe it to be a memory issue, I have run memtest and gotten 3 passes in a row. I have not otherwise run any diagnostic or stress tests on my PC, as I am not familiar with how to do so.
Recently, my computer has started freezing while I'm browsing the web. No BSOD or resetting, it just freezes and I have to hold the power button to get it back.I don't think it's over heating, or memory or any of that because I can happily play games hour hours with no issues.I can watch films,or streaming media for hours and it's fine. It only crashes while surfing or talking on Steam.
MSI P67C45 (still haven't got my B3 replacement :O)
i5 2500k (standard clock, with the 'turobo boost' ability engaged)
4gb (2x2) G.Skill Ripjaws X (I think. Can't remember freqs but I'll dig it out if somehow important)
Nvidia GTX260
Corsair F240 SSD (lucky competition win ) with the OS on
1TB HDD - got the pagefile set up on this drive so I don't burn the SSD
When I am browsing the web suing IE9 I get a crash randomly and sometimes after closing the browser and restarting I get a crash. What I could do to pin point the cause.

I have a pretty big problem regarding my Explorer, it keeps crashing when I browse through my music or photo's, video's or whatever that basically needs or shows a thumbnail I guess. It's pretty annoying cause it happens over and over again! I've tried a command (sfc) scan and virusscans, as well as i've booted with Clean Boot, Safe-Mode and did a System Restore.[CODE]

View 0 Replies View RelatedAs described here: 'Microsoft is offering users running Windows 7 a fix designed to resolve issues related to Windows Explorer. According to the software giant, Windows Explorer can crash in certain scenarios, a glitch which also seems to be impacting Windows Server 2008 R2, not just Windows 7. It appears that the issue is not exactly new, since it affects the RTM versions of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, as well as the two operating systems after their first upgrade was released. Essentially, the release of Service Pack 1 doesn't seem to have resolved Windows Explorer crashes. "This issue usually occurs when you perform some operations that are related to the taskbar or to the Address bar," the Redmond company revealed.

However, when it reached the desktop, I got an error message saying that "Windows explorer has crashed blah blah" It couldn't find a solution, restarted and then crashed immediately ad infinitum. This means I can't get into my computer at all to get any logs or anything. I also tried running it in safe mode but my Keyboard doens't appaear to be "active" in the period you need to hit F8

I have attached the dump file that was created using the registry program that was provided in this post. We have already tried sfc /scannow, chkdsk and virus scans.
View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to open a folder after few seconds I get a message saying Windows Explorer has stopped working. I checked "Always show icons, never thumbnails" when ever I uncheck the box windows explorer will not last for 10 seconds am trying to locate the error and I like using the thumbnail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI looked at some of the solutions including the error check in the c:. I've installed the ccleaner on my computer as well and still didnt work. So the problem is, whenever I am on my computer and explorer crashes it says "the windows explorer has stopped working" and after that it just restarts the explorer but my all the icons in the system icons disappear except for the clock. I tried to go and change it but I can't, the sound, internet and uac icons disappear and I can only see them again if I reboot my computer. I am running windows 7 32-bit. [URL].
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a program that was able to change folder backgrounds but uninstalled it, and I think this is what has caused this problem: Those same files show up no matter what I type in and they are all 0 bytes. If I right click one, Windows Explorer crashes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I right click anywhere, it just crashes my Windows Explorer. I've tried doing the "sfc /scannow" but it said it couldn't fix some corrupted files.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 on a Toshiba laptop bought last year. My windows explorer is currently stuck in a permanent state of crashing every 3 seconds. I've tried restarting, shutting down, running virus checks and removing all suspicious adware, removing cookies, and calling tech support. They said it was a problem with a corrupted something to do with the explorer file. It started by crashing once or twice whenever I viewed a particular folder on my desktop (all it had was some video files), and now it crashes when I'm not doing anything. Immediately crashes after reset. I'm operating in safe mode now and the tech guy said the problem is fixable from my end, but wouldn't tell me how to do it unless I gave him $160. And I don't have a credit card
If this helps, the tech guy was remotely controlling my computer and he's left open Services where he was looking at Computer Browser and he said he could fix it in one or two steps from there. The problem with the browser crash was cited as
"The Computer Browser service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependency service or group failed to start."
When I right-click a drive and select 'properties' in Windows Explorer, it crashes. It doesn't matter what the drive is (flash, external, internal)..

Around 15 seconds after booting into Windows, a window pops up 'windows explorer has stopped working..windows is checking for a solution to the problem...'
After a couple of seconds, a window pops up saying Windows Explorer is starting, and then the previous windows pops up again.
I can't access any other programs when this happens. I've tried running in safe mode, and this issue doesn't come up. If done checkdisk, but this hasn't resolved the issue.
I had an F/drive failure. Got the files recovered and transfered to a backup drive, installed a new F/ drive and as I began re-installing program files, discovered I couldn't use Explorer right-click to copy data files to a different directory. I tried the NirSof shexview program to disable all context menu items, no joy, even in safe mode. I made a crashdmp file, but don't know how to open or read it. Per other threads, I've uploaded that to skydrive.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLike many people out there I'm having problems renaming, deleting, moving, copying, and playing mkv files. If I attempt to do one of the above tasks, windows explorer will crash and I have to restart my computer. I ran a cmd scannow and there indeed was a problem with my cbs log. However, that has since been repaired yet the mkv problem persists. I've also adjusted my viewing options to only show details in the folder, hoping that perhaps it was the thumbnail generator that was to blame. This also did not work. The mkv file itself doesn't appear to be corrupted. I've been able to successfully transfer some files to an external hard drive. I've been able to play these files no problem on my work computer running windows xp.
I have a feeling it's somehow tied to divX. I've attempted to uninstall the program several times using the normal process from the control panel, once with ccleaner, and currently attempting a forced uninstall with a trial version of revo uninstaller pro. None of these has so far worked. Anyone have any bright ideas, save for reinstalling my OS? Also, please keep your suggestions in layman's termsI'm by no stretch well versed in computers.
about 3 months ago I installed a software called "right click image converter" and I don't think it was removed properly, and ever since, when I right click on any folder, windows crashes and restarts itself everytime. Could anyone please tell me a good way to fix this issue without having to reformat my computer?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSince today, I've been having random freezes in Windows 7. When it freezes, all I can do is move the mouse cursor, windows explorer happens to be crashing at that point & there is no way for me to ctrl-alt-delete or ctrl-shift-escape myself out of the situation. I have to restart the PC only to be confronted with the problem again shortly after. These freezes happen at very random times. For example when I opened up the start menu and typed "cmd" and pressed enter, it froze.
Or just when I simply started up my PC and when my first action was pressing "Cancel" in an application window, it froze as well. It also froze just opening the start menu & froze opening my User (Tom) folder. I decided that it might be because of some update or one of the applications I've installed since today, so I decided to do a system restore to yesterday, which removed those applications. This however, did not fix the random freezes. I also checked my PC component temperatures in the ASUS BIOS, they happen to be fine. I'm on the PC right now, it runs fine in safe-mode.

Every time I try to create a new library or even right click on library Explorer stops working and restarts.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been having some frustrating issues with Windows Explorer (on Windows 7), and I've pinpointed the cause to one stubborn wmv file on my external hard drive.Whenever Explorer accesses the location of this wmv file (unfortunately the root directory), the green bar at the top starts slowly running, presumably trying to load the thumbnail of that wmv file. This wreaks havoc everywhere, as any other folders I navigate to then have missing thumbnails that will not load... and when I go to "Computer", it's completely empty and the green bar atop runs indefinitely, but never makes any progress... only heating my computer frustratingly.Furthermore, when I restart explorer, the error "the remove procedure call failed" shows. Logging off or pressing Ctrl+N in explorer have provided temporary solutions so far.

I blieve it may be linked to the new video card that I installed. After I changed the stock video graphics card that came with this HP desktop station (Win 7 64-bit), this started happening. I changed the video card to yet another one - the problem still there..
