When I open Windows Explorer it does not recognize the CDDVD drive. If I go to Device Manager, it says that the drive is working properly. I've tried to update the driver but it is the latest version. I have uninstalled the drive and when I reboot, I get the message that the drive is installed.. I have a restore point that I created that has the info needed for Explorer to recognize the drive. If I let the computer go to sleep, when I wake it up Explorer no longer recognizes the drive. Sometimes I have been able to reboot and get it to recognize the drive but not every time.
P.S. I'm running Win 7, home premium, 64 bit with a terabyte drive and 6 gbytes of RAM.
Windows 7/IE8 & IE9 report no media in TSST corp CDDVD Writer, SH-S203B, SBO-4. However, on the same machine Nero 10 recognizes media and burns successfully. CDDVD Writer has latest firmware. Windows Update current. Computer>DVD RW Drive (D) > Properties > Hardware lists all three drives, 160 Gb Maxtor (Internal SATA HD), 500 Gb Seagate Free Agent GoFlex(External HD, USB 2.0) and TSSTcorp CDDVD Writer; should only the TSST be listed there? Device Manager reports drivers up to date, no abnormalities. Disc Management reports that "CD-ROM 0 is Online DVD." I have a problem with the folders in windows explorer in windows 7.Often windows explorer automatically creates unwanted folders who I cant recognize. Often some folders have been splitted in 2 or more folders. One example is that it had been created 2 folders of my "bon jovi"-folder. One of them has the original name "bon jovi" and the new folder has the name "jon bon jovi". Strange behaviour by windows explorer.Or just one file is saved in a folder and a subfolder, which have names based on the files name, often the artist and album. If I download one file, I want it saved in "my music"-folder "bare", not hidden in 1 or 2 folders.Suddenly, after 15 mins or so, a lot of new unwanted folders appeared in "my music" with subfolders and just one mp3-file. The new folders were created just some minutes ago. The numbers of folders in "my music" has increased much. Many of the mp3-files are downloaded from dc++, but the settings in dc++ is correct. The files are saved in "my music"-folder.Ive tried to change the foldersettings in windows explorer, f.ex organise -> reset folders, but it doesnt help
I recently attempted to add a hard drive to my Lenovo W520 laptop using a CD/DVD caddy accessory designed to hold a SATA hard drive.Windows recognized the new device and according to its messages, automatically installed the required device drivers. However, when I go into Windows Explorer, the new drive is nowhere to be found. Now, I know (or at least assume) this new drive probably needs to be formatted, but shouldn't it show up within Windows Explorer even in a pre-formatted state?
I downloaded some photos from my SD card to a folder in Windows Explorer on an HP laptop running Windows 7. The files/photos are definitely on the hard drive and I can view them with the Picasa Photo Viewer (they're in Nikon's raw format, NEF).However, when I open both Picasa and Nikon's Capture NX2 to edit and convert to JPEG's, neither program recognizes the folder I saved the photos to. The new folder is not in the list of folders in the My Pictures library.
I am doing a clean install of Win 7 Ultimate 64bit. I have a Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-UD5P Motherboard and a LG GGW-h20L Blu ray writer. I can install Windows 7 fine on a single SATA disk setup with the bios settings set to IDE. But when I set the bios settings to RAID and plug the 2 hard disks in and run the windows setup it asks for the CDDVD rom driver. It does not do this when setting it up on a single disk. I have tried the AHCI option, SATA, option, IDE options
I have the latest bios and have tried locating the drivers for the LG writer but was unable to find them. The LG writer already has the latest firmware installed.
My motherboard has a SB750 chipset RAID controller.
Windows Explorer ( not internet Explorer) starts up when I turn on my computer ( without my request). This just started to occur yesterday. It must be in some startup menu . Where do I look for this to remove it ?
i want to ask. My windows cannot recognize my CD-R files. i put in my CD-R and windows recognize it as blank CD-R. while there's file (an autorun files and software installer) in that CD-R. i have pc and laptop, i try putting my cd-r on my pc (win xp sp2) my windows recognize the file, but when i try putting on my laptop (win 7 64bit) it recognized as blank cd-r.
I was gfiven some external hardrives with enclosures and was told they all work. I cant get a single one to be recognized in computer. any tips or workarounds to get windows to recognize these drives. I am now using an acer 64 bit laptop.
I have a TDK Trans-it 4GB pen. One of my machines recognizes it just fine, but the other does not evenn recognize it (no dialog, search for new hardware does not return)
how to make W7 explorer display the file tree the same way that XP did? The W7 way is a total mishmash, IMHO. I can't understand the directory structure. The indentation on the display is very slight and hard to see so that it is very hard to tell where a subdirectory starts and ends. It takes a long time to fill in the file structure so that after several seconds, even minutes, the display is still jumping around. There are a lot of things that I like about W7 but this is NOT one of them. I use windows explorer a lot.
On my PC there is a card reader connected. It shows up as 4 different drives when I look at "My Computer" and elsewhere. One of the slots in the reader is for sim cards. When a sim card is inserted a Windows sound is heard and the "Installing Device Driver" window shows up but then another window stating the installation was not successful. Any further action from within windows does not solve the problem. I tried an external card reader connected via USB and the same negative results. this was tried with 3 different sim cards.
I have a laptop (Asus K55D) with two OS, Windows 8 and 7, operating through a KVM switch (trendnet tk-409). It is also connected to a Linux machine. Linux machine works fine. When booting the laptop, the Bios and the boot selection work fine too, and so does Windows 8 when booted. But when booted into Windows 7, while the display works, the keyobard and mouse do not.
I did a quick search on this site on "Administrator not reconized" and found the only threads mentioning this problem have both been closed. My problem is that in trying to download the entire HP driver/software disc for my hp printer psc 1350 series, I was not able to download the entire software, because I did not have Administrator's rights, etc, even though I was the only Administrator (and sole user of this computer at that time). I did some research online and followed one suggestion that I followed, which was to change the setting by going to Start, typing 'cmd' in search field, and typing in 'net user administrator /active:yes.' This created another "Administrator" user, which I am now finding quite useless, since many of my programs have already been downloaded on my first "Administrator" status. I need to know how to remove the last one I created (Administrator), if possible. As it stands right now, the one I had before is the only one with the option to delete. (Ugh!) In any case, even having the second Administrator user status, will not allow me to download the above mentioned software completely. So, I went full circle with the same problem, with no solution.
1) Remove the second Administrator user, and 2) how to get Windows 7 to allow me to download the above mentioned. BTW, I have already tried right-clicking the disc drive (setup file) and clicked "Run as Administrator" - all to no avail. Nothing seems to work.
For some reason Windows 7 Home Premium has decided not to recognize my CD/DVDW drive?t was fine yesterday but today not. The driver is up to date per the fix it tool.Anyone know what I should try next? I have a basic understanding of the computer, but am not expert by a long shot
I've just got a brand new EasyCAP capture card and my computer won't recognise it. In device manager it appears as SM-USV 007 in "Other Devices", and none of the tutorials i've been looking at say that. They all recognise EasyCAP as a capture card. My other problem is that my laptop won't read the installation disc for some reason. I don't know if it's the solution to my problem or it just contains drivers and the screen capture program. I have downloaded the Windows 7 x64 drivers and installed them but it fails to find them for the device.
I get to the part of the installation where you select a partition/drive, and there is nothing there. I have tried using different two different HDD both spin up but the installation doesn't see them. I have also switched out SATA Cables, used different power connectors, even tried loading drivers, and have reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS Battery.

I wondering if anyone could help me, when I'm playing a game on the pc I would like the sound to come from the speakers but use the front jack to plug in my headset and talk to friends on skype. My problem is the sound from my game comes through my headset as well and it's very annoying! Also if someone else is on the pc and i'm on a skype call I have to ask them to mute the sound on the pc. I have Realtek Hd Audio Manager installed and it recognizes the headset when I plug it in but in control panel under sound it doesn't,it thinks my headset is speakers.I've searched and searched for a solution, apparently older versions of Realtek had better options for controlling jacks, the one I have even though it's all updated is very basic with no options to change any settings to do with jacks.
I disassembled my computer, carried it in my luggage and reassembled it. The only thing changed is the case. Since reassembling it, Windows (7 ultimate 64-bit) will not recognize either of my 2 DVD-RW's. At boot, my bios offers them as boot options, and with the Win7 disk in the one, it will boot from it if selected. However, once within the Win7 environment...nothing. Not even any yellow exclamation marks in device driver. I have tried to force installation, tried installing a legacy device, everything I can think of. how I can force Win7 to search for and find my DVD-RW's?

suddenly my win 7 ultimate won't recognize viewsonic vg2230wm LCD monitor. Installation of driver doesn't help. It always show non-PnP monitor and max 1024x758 resolution which should be 1680x1050. Hardware id shows just default monitor. However win 7 recognize my other monitor correctly. I'm out of options.
I have Wordpress installed in a server. When I type my domain name on the browser to login Worldpress nothing happens. It is like Win 7 does not recognize the domain name. When I do the same thing in Win Vista or XP it works OK?
I just have HP i5 mother board replaced by manufacture. Apparently it does recognizes my external hard drives (3 units).it makes sound when I plug them on or unplug, the hard drives picture or icon were not registering on my screen on "my computer". it does recognizes the flash drives with no problem.
