Sep 8, 2012I'm currently having a problem with my computer in regards to what the title states, and I was hoping I could receiv I am not by any means a very tech savvy person.Turn on computer goes through the Microsoft screen and so forthWelcome loading screen comes up which is shortly replaced by a 5 minute loading screen of "Loading Desktop"After that I am put into a Temp. Profile.The message I receive is~ "Your user profile was not loaded correctlyYou have been logged on with a temporary profile."From what I understand this strongly indicates that my profile was corrupted, and this is also suggested by the research I have done. Though I was hoping it isn't so and what options are available to me

Apr 7, 2011I just got a new computer that I built: i5 2500k, MSIP67 G43, 8GB RAM, 2 6850s in CF, Corsair 750w PS. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.It was working fine yesterday but sometime this morning it started hanging up. Basically what happens is the username screen comes on, I click the user, then it makes the little chime.I can see the recycle bin, I can access the start menu but I can't do anything after that. My network connection icon in the task bar freezes for about 3-4 minutes.During that time I'm unable to open any program until it connects. After that, everything works fine.All I've installed today was a windows update, an updated driver for my Networking card, and GWFL client. I was overclocking my CPU also, but since I'm troubleshooting this, I rolled it back to the default settings.I've uninstalled GFWL, and I've rolled back to the previous drivers and it still does this.

Feb 20, 2012I have an HP Pavillion P6000 with Windows 7 Home Edition and I use Webroot Spy Sweeper weekly. I've never had any problems and suddenly last week while trying to get on IE, my home page would act like it was loading but it was just a white screen that disappeared about 10 seconds later. I tried rebooting and couldn't get windows to load after that. I tried "Repair My Computer" which told me no problems were found. Rebooted and couldn't get windows to load again. Found your website and used the F8 key, tried "Startup Repair", didn't help. Tried "Stsyem Restore" and while windows was able to come up, still couldn't use IE ans still can't open any programs. Now it's doing the same thing with windows not loading and it won't let me try to restore again. I get this message, "An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x800700b7). I tried using a different restore point also. I don't know much about computers

Jun 20, 2011I have a Windows 7 laptop bought less than a year ago which is experiencing some weird symptoms. On startup, the login screen comes up rather quickly, but takes about 10-15mins to load Windows, eventually landing me in a temporary profile.The computer seems to freeze when using video after ~15 minutes of viewing also. The stress has lead to at least one BSOD, which I couldn't obtain fast enough. Every attempt to go into the event viewer freezes the computer if let run enough, with loading bars realted to "snap-in" not functioning correctly. The same occurs in safe mode, with windows taking even longer to run and flat out freezing the computer upon trying to open the event viewer.Occasionally, and in the same event of the BSOD, I can hear a clicking inside the machine, which I believe but cannot be sure is the hard-drive. I want to check this on the event viewer but cannot open it.I want to attempt to re-install windows but have lost the disc. I know of other ways to get around this but want to try all available options before doing this. This issue very much sounds to be hardware related anyway, but being unable to view the event viewer I cannot pin down this error. I have MSE on the computer with scans being done in safe and normal modes which nothing found.

Oct 5, 2011My son's laptop is really slow loading Windows. If I go into Safe Mode, it comes up really quickly and the internet works - all normal. But in the regular Windows, it takes forever and the internet does not connect (it might if I left it long enough but I haven't had the patience). I did an AntiMalware scan which showed nothing and am currently running an Antivirus - both in Safe Mode. I was going to do a System Restore but only one is showing on the system and I wasn't sure where to go with it.

Sep 13, 2010troubleshoot slow startup for spss v18 (or pasw as its known now). It works great connecting to a network license when i set it up initially using admin account outside of a domain. But as soon as i sysprepped the pc and join a windows domain and login as any user (whether they have admin rights or not), spss v18 (pasw) takes about 5-6 minutes to load - which is not at all acceptable. In fact there is no splash screen or anything to warn users it is loading, and just appears after several minutes...I've checked domain firewall settings (even disabled firewall), but still no joy.However, once spss has loaded after several minutes, any other users logging in afterwards get a quick spss load. Its almost like the first login on the PC from cold takes forever, any reason for that?Again this only happens when the PC is in a domain and being sysprepped with spss on it.

I have 5 hard drives installed. 3 for storing sound sample libraries, 1 SSD for the OS, and a spare 2TB hdd to install any other programs I need and for general storage.Most times when I try to open Sonar X1 (software for music production) it takes about a minute to load. I know it's not the power of the computer holding it back because it has, although rarely, loaded up straight away. Does anybody know why this might be happening? I've installed Sonar X1 on the spare 2TB hdd.On a possibly related note,some mp3's on the 2TB hdd play for a while and then stop, only to continue playing about a minute later. Driving me nuts.

Jul 17, 2012I'm moving from an XP machine to a Windows 7 machine and have transferred my project files (engraving files as well as .bmp). When I try to open a project folder in any of the programs I use it takes 2-3 minutes for it to load all the filesThere are just over 10,000 files in the folder, they are all small files (nothing larger than 100k), and on the XP machine it loads in an instant.I have done everything I can find online (turned off indexing, changed the folder prefs, etc) and nothing works. When I open the folder within Windows it loads in an instant, however when I try to open it within a program is when it dragsDoes anybody have any ideas of what else I can try outside of threatening the computer with physical violence?Also as you can tell by my screen name I'm a mac user that has to use PCs at work.

Oct 8, 2011so I was on my desktop main account and then let my dad log on to a guest account I recently created for him since his laptop isn't working, then when I came back I logged onto my profile I couldn't open any browser, in the case of firefox this came up (firefox can't load host something, missing profile) and chrome (your preferences cannot be read)
then I couln't open some shorcuts (windows cannot find the target. and my utorrent setting reset as well, like if I had never used it, BUT the guest account works perfectly.
I'm able to open firefox with open as administrator but all addons, bookmarks are gone, I can't open the document, picture, and music links on the start menu either
Slow Cold Boot - Only Catalyst Control Center Loading Up As Startup Item
Feb 9, 2011I have installed windows 7 on my computer about a year ago. I've never had any problems to the point where I would need to reinstall the OS, however, I've noticed that on cold boots the system runs painfully slow, it will boot up fairly fast on a normal restart tho, like 20-35 seconds. On a cold boot it can take about 1-2 minutes to load in windows, and then once that happens its not so much it going slow as that there is a point during which I cannot click anything or else it will take forever to accomplish.
What I mean by this is, it will load to my desktop and for a period of about 3 more minutes I will try to right click on the desktop and it will do the circle thing for like 20 seconds before giving me the drop down menu. If I right click again right after, it shows up instantly. Same with trying to open up a file within those first couple of minutes. It will take like 45 seconds to open a picture. I have tweaked my windows 7 to startup only necessary drivers and turned off search index along with Aero.
My HDD isn't fragmented and I've got about 120gbs out of 450 available. So its not that bad. Now some of you may say, well its just loading the processes. But I only have catalyst control center loading up as a startup item. And even after it loads. It goes through a wierd 3-4 minute phase in which everything is slow as hell. Then works perfectly fine.
Big Mess After Creating New Profile And Deleting Original Profile?
Jul 9, 2012Originally I had all my data files in drive D and only programs in drive C. Somehow my old user profile got corrupted and the Backgound wall paper is not working properly. So I created a new admin profile to fix it but now I have a mess.After I created a new admin profile and moved the old users folder/files to the new user , I decided to delete the old profile after everything seems to be working properly . When deleting the old profile I elected to save old user files to my desktop ( fortunately) . I now have a very fragmented system . Some of the folder/files are still under my old username in D drive, nothing in my new user name in D drive plus almost all of the folder/files from the old user ( in drive D) are now in a folder on the desktop where windows elected to place them when I elected to save the folders/files. I really need all the old user folders.I would like to have the Data in either under my old or new username in Drive D instead of fragmented all over the place. I realize I ended up in this situation because I didnt understand fully what windows will do when creating and deleting user profiles.

Nov 17, 2012when i try to create a new user profile ~ with or without a password, it shows up on the main login page, but when i click on it to open, the message "UserProfileService_service failed the logon_user profile cannot be loaded". i have searched microsoft support with little solutions listed. and the ones that are listed seem too technical for me to be trying on my own. there are many posts there with this problem, but they all seem to be several years old.
i am using windows 7. i have never been able to create any accounts other than my administrator account & the one account i use for all my general computer use. i have been using norton 360 with no problems. i have resorted to just using any "log in/log out' links on all the sites my husband wants to use.i am really not all that confident doing anything super technical to fix this, since i don't have a real understanding of different extensions or types of files. i am afraid i could really mess everything up really bad. but, it would just be SO MUCH EASIER & FASTER if i had my account & my husband had his own account.

Every time when I log on, I'll get a Temporary profile.I open RegEdit and check: C:HKEY_Local_MachineSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionProfileList and there is a .bak file on my true User profile. So I rename the temp_userfile to .fault and delete the .bak on my true User profile. I also change the value in the State Word to 0 (there's always a number here: 36840). After that a press F5(Update) and restart my computer, and everything works like a charm!
Then, on the very next day when I start the computer I have to do it all one more time!Why is the State-word always overwritten?
