Sudden Slow Loading With Windows 7
Feb 20, 2012
I have an HP Pavillion P6000 with Windows 7 Home Edition and I use Webroot Spy Sweeper weekly. I've never had any problems and suddenly last week while trying to get on IE, my home page would act like it was loading but it was just a white screen that disappeared about 10 seconds later. I tried rebooting and couldn't get windows to load after that. I tried "Repair My Computer" which told me no problems were found. Rebooted and couldn't get windows to load again. Found your website and used the F8 key, tried "Startup Repair", didn't help. Tried "Stsyem Restore" and while windows was able to come up, still couldn't use IE ans still can't open any programs. Now it's doing the same thing with windows not loading and it won't let me try to restore again. I get this message, "An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x800700b7). I tried using a different restore point also. I don't know much about computers

i'm having some problems with windows 7 home premium 64 bit, on my sony vaio vpceb2c5e. i got my sony vaio laptop in november 2010 so it's not too old. upon booting up windows 7 on the 15th feb 2011, i noticed the time it took windows to be functional had drastically increased from the night before when it was loaded. i hadn't installed any programs on it over the past several weeks, and about the only things i had running were google chrome (watching videos on Internet), minecraft and msn messenger.now every time when i boot up and i've logged in, i have to wait 5-10 minutes or so before i can even start to load programs or connect to a network, otherwise windows seems to not load the program i double clicked and seems to stop loading anything, but the mouse and keyboard still work and a hard shut down (holding down the power button) is required.
i tested ubuntu on the vaio and it seems to load fine, i have even tested out windows 98 which also works fine (thus eliminating the possibility of a faulty hard drive), it's just windows 7 which had suddenly got a slow load up time for me. once i have waited a long time windows seems to work fine and i can run and open everything i want, as quick as i would normally do prior to this problem.

Basically, my computer is relatively powerful, i built it for gaming and its worked perfectly ever since. My computer runs windows 7, it gets to the logon screen and i logon perfectly fine. Problem is that after 5 minutes of waiting it goes to the desktop and for a further 20 minutes it is unusable. To the point where if i try to click on stuff Windows displays "Windows 7 has stopped working" etc.
I notice that for this 20 minutes on the desktop my startup applications (Like Fences, Pidgin, MS Security Essentials, Dropbox) do not start. So far i have ensured that explorer.exe is running (which it is). And I have tried other stuff like running virus scans with MalwareBytes, MS Essentials and SuperAntiSpyware (Found nothing). Temperatures of my components are fine, Graphics card around 60-75 degrees, CPU Cores at around 40-55.
My computer is specced as below:
Quad Core 3Ghz CPU
8GB Ram
Nvidia 9800GTX

my laptop has recently started booting up and shuting down pretty slow, it takes about 3 mins to start up, and shutdown, but when it boots up, it runs perfectly. It yous to only take a few seconds. i'm not very knowledgeable about computer details, so if you need them, where do i find them? I do know i'm running Windows 7 and have Intel core i3. I run mcafee virus scan everyday, defrag and clean my disk everyday.

I run win 7 clean install and firefox mostly. I have a Gateway NV52 4GB of ram but even scrolling the page down is glitchy. IDK the issue. I have scanned using Morcosoft items as well as avast not sure what else to do.

For the past few days my Laptop has been very slow to load up once I have logged in. Bootup seems to be fine until the user selection page. I then select my user ID and then log in. Once I hit the submit button the screen goes white and it takes a while to load up the desktopThe mouse is visible, but nothing responds. The Windows Key doesn't bring up the Start Menu or anything.CTRL+SHIFT+ESC brings up Task Manager which shows nothing untowards. On boot-up there is no peripherals installed on the laptop, just the Power Lead and WiFi is Active.I have updates on Automatic and Windows 7 is Genuine Home Premium. Here are the PC Specs[CODE]

I just got a new computer that I built: i5 2500k, MSIP67 G43, 8GB RAM, 2 6850s in CF, Corsair 750w PS. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.It was working fine yesterday but sometime this morning it started hanging up. Basically what happens is the username screen comes on, I click the user, then it makes the little chime.I can see the recycle bin, I can access the start menu but I can't do anything after that. My network connection icon in the task bar freezes for about 3-4 minutes.During that time I'm unable to open any program until it connects. After that, everything works fine. All I've installed today was a windows update, an updated driver for my Networking card, and GWFL client. I was overclocking my CPU also, but since I'm troubleshooting this, I rolled it back to the default settings.I've uninstalled GFWL, and I've rolled back to the previous drivers and it still does this.

My son's laptop is really slow loading Windows. If I go into Safe Mode, it comes up really quickly and the internet works - all normal. But in the regular Windows, it takes forever and the internet does not connect (it might if I left it long enough but I haven't had the patience). I did an AntiMalware scan which showed nothing and am currently running an Antivirus - both in Safe Mode. I was going to do a System Restore but only one is showing on the system and I wasn't sure where to go with it.

I am completely stumped as to why videos tend to lag & freeze my screen for 10 second intervals, aswell as cause my browser to freeze with a busy icon. I've tried everything I know to do with no progress. I've tried numerous different browsers with no luck, scanning for all bugs.as well as disabling firewalls, cycling my router/modem & making sure all of my drivers are up to date. My computer should handle everything just fine.

troubleshoot slow startup for spss v18 (or pasw as its known now). It works great connecting to a network license when i set it up initially using admin account outside of a domain. But as soon as i sysprepped the pc and join a windows domain and login as any user (whether they have admin rights or not), spss v18 (pasw) takes about 5-6 minutes to load - which is not at all acceptable. In fact there is no splash screen or anything to warn users it is loading, and just appears after several minutes...I've checked domain firewall settings (even disabled firewall), but still no joy. However, once spss has loaded after several minutes, any other users logging in afterwards get a quick spss load. Its almost like the first login on the PC from cold takes forever, any reason for that?Again this only happens when the PC is in a domain and being sysprepped with spss on it.

i recently had assembled a pretty powerful PC
-i7 2600k CPU
-32GB RAM
-ASUS Maximus IV Extreme Motherboard etc.
-Windows 7 Pro
I have 5 hard drives installed. 3 for storing sound sample libraries, 1 SSD for the OS, and a spare 2TB hdd to install any other programs I need and for general storage. Most times when I try to open Sonar X1 (software for music production) it takes about a minute to load. I know it's not the power of the computer holding it back because it has, although rarely, loaded up straight away. Does anybody know why this might be happening? I've installed Sonar X1 on the spare 2TB hdd.On a possibly related note, some mp3's on the 2TB hdd play for a while and then stop, only to continue playing about a minute later. Driving me nuts.

I'm moving from an XP machine to a Windows 7 machine and have transferred my project files (engraving files as well as .bmp). When I try to open a project folder in any of the programs I use it takes 2-3 minutes for it to load all the filesThere are just over 10,000 files in the folder, they are all small files (nothing larger than 100k), and on the XP machine it loads in an instant.I have done everything I can find online (turned off indexing, changed the folder prefs, etc) and nothing works. When I open the folder within Windows it loads in an instant, however when I try to open it within a program is when it dragsDoes anybody have any ideas of what else I can try outside of threatening the computer with physical violence? Also as you can tell by my screen name I'm a mac user that has to use PCs at work.

I have installed windows 7 on my computer about a year ago. I've never had any problems to the point where I would need to reinstall the OS, however, I've noticed that on cold boots the system runs painfully slow, it will boot up fairly fast on a normal restart tho, like 20-35 seconds. On a cold boot it can take about 1-2 minutes to load in windows, and then once that happens its not so much it going slow as that there is a point during which I cannot click anything or else it will take forever to accomplish.
What I mean by this is, it will load to my desktop and for a period of about 3 more minutes I will try to right click on the desktop and it will do the circle thing for like 20 seconds before giving me the drop down menu. If I right click again right after, it shows up instantly. Same with trying to open up a file within those first couple of minutes. It will take like 45 seconds to open a picture. I have tweaked my windows 7 to startup only necessary drivers and turned off search index along with Aero.
My HDD isn't fragmented and I've got about 120gbs out of 450 available. So its not that bad. Now some of you may say, well its just loading the processes. But I only have catalyst control center loading up as a startup item. And even after it loads. It goes through a wierd 3-4 minute phase in which everything is slow as hell. Then works perfectly fine.

Well, the above pretty much sums up my problem. Booted into Windows like any normal day and I was greeted with the following message on a black screen "This copy of Windows 7 is not genuine".I had an option to either go online and resolve it or an ask me later tab. I obviously clicked the former and it took me to Microsoft's validation page where it said "Validating Windows this should only take a few minutes".The result? A page where it advises which version of Windows is best for me and buy options.I know my copy is genuine and it hasn't done this before so this is new for me. I have run a virus scan and malware scan so I don't think it's virus/malware at play. Not edited the registry in any way and have done a few restarts to see if was just a glitch or the system playing silly buggers. Nope, still says it on every reboot. I now have this in the bottom right hand corner of my desktop: "Windows 7 build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine".I'm pretty stumped. Can I not just go to somewhere and put in the product key that is attached to my tower and re validate it?I have included the MGDiag tool report. Hope you can help me out. Cheers.

The worst thing is, this is a new PC and I've just freshly installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on it.
I've already updated ALL my device drivers to the latest available, as well as applied all available Windows updates, yet it still happens. These weird CPU Spikes can occur seemingly randomly, and thereafter causes my OS to inevitably freeze or become EXTREMELY unresponsive at best. I am unable to Restart the computer (it either hangs at logging off or doesn't seem to be able to shutdown (left it trying to shutdown for 1 hour).
The onset has happened to me so far in these scenarios:
1) Just surfing the internet
2) Playing a video file
3) Leaving the computer idle (It was frozen when I got back to my PC)
4) Changing control panel settings
I was lucky enough to capture and save the screenshots showing it in Task Manager. The culprit process seems to be the 'SYSTEM' process (which shows only 25% CPU usage, however as you can see my ACTUAL CPU usage spikes all the way to 100%!
Quoted below is my system information:
Code: System Information report written at: 08/28/11 19:55:16

My young cousin was using the computer (Win 7 in limited user mode) when something happened with the speakers. He thought he could fix the problem by restarting the computer using the on/off button. From what he told me, the computer would not restart normally. The black screen came up where you can select Safe Mode. He selected the start normally option. The computer booted to the desktop and then restarted back to the black screen. I ended up having to use the System Restore option from Safe Mode and everything seemed fine after that. I never really got to check things out properly though.
I'm going to assume that either the system settings or the registry was messed up from the sudden restart when my cousin pressed the on/off button. Would that be correct? Was the proper way to fix this by using the System Restore option? I might have chosen the "last known good configuration" option from the black screen, but it wasn't listed and I don't know if it was listed the first time that screen came up. With all the button pushing that kid did, it's a wonder the computer still works.

One particular site that is not loading at all, on any browsers on my computer is [URL]. There are many more that fail to load as well. I did test these sites on my iPhone with no problems though. There are a handful of other sites that do open but do not load properly [missing images, ect.] I also thought that it might be malware but I installed & scanned my computer with four different programs which did not solve the problem. I'm guessing that it still may be some problem on the software side with settings but I can't seem to figure out where to look. BTW, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials as my antivirus program for the past couple of days now. Prior to that I was using Avira but it seemed to be giving me problems so I uninstalled it and installed the Microsoft app.
