Sudden CPU Spikes And OS Freeze In Windows 7?
Aug 28, 2011The worst thing is, this is a new PC and I've just freshly installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on it.
I've already updated ALL my device drivers to the latest available, as well as applied all available Windows updates, yet it still happens. These weird CPU Spikes can occur seemingly randomly, and thereafter causes my OS to inevitably freeze or become EXTREMELY unresponsive at best. I am unable to Restart the computer (it either hangs at logging off or doesn't seem to be able to shutdown (left it trying to shutdown for 1 hour).
The onset has happened to me so far in these scenarios:
1) Just surfing the internet
2) Playing a video file
3) Leaving the computer idle (It was frozen when I got back to my PC)
4) Changing control panel settings
I was lucky enough to capture and save the screenshots showing it in Task Manager. The culprit process seems to be the 'SYSTEM' process (which shows only 25% CPU usage, however as you can see my ACTUAL CPU usage spikes all the way to 100%!

Jul 27, 2011I am trying to uninstall my .Net framework but my computer just crashes with a bluescreen or freeze. I get the same result when I use a .Net framwork cleanup tool. The bluescreen error code is usually Stop 0x0000000A.The reason I am trying to reinstall my .Net framework is because some programs such as Nem's tools fail to launch and instead get an error saying "side by side configuration is incorrect". If I try to repair my .Net framework i get the same bluescreen.

Jan 17, 2013Windows 7 sp1 on hp 6550 probook, i5 450M processor with 8gb ram.
Been using this machine for 2 years no problem, suddenly its all freezing up. Any app I start sits and goes to "not responding" and eventually returns, even windows explorer takes minutes to open a folder. Browsers take forever to load a page. Its exactly like a memory leak or a process sucking all the memory, but in task manager cpu usage is v low about 10%, memory usage v low about 40% of 8gb, and no one process is taking lots of memory, Ive rebooted several times no change Ive installed all latest updates no change Ive run scannow and no issues were found Ive run a chkdsk on response was volume is clean ( almost instantly?) Cpu temp is fine at around 55 C
Ive run malwarebytes and found no malware Ive run a full virus scan with Avira and no viruses
Ive done a system restore to as far back as I could go (only to this morning) but no help.

Feb 12, 2012I have encountered 4 BSOD errors, pointing to page fault in nonpaged area and memory management. I have already executed check disk and system restore, the error still occurred. My system is just 1 month old and no overclocking is done.

Mar 31, 2012My computer has been freezing a few times now and I have no idea why, I even waited for one hour and a blue screen didn't appear. Tought it was the browsers, cause it usually freezes when I'm on the google chrome, but I uninstalled it and it still freezes with IE. I have played some games but it didn't freeze, only with browsers opened, although it froze 2 times without the browser opened, no idea why. I used the SF Diagnostic tool to colect the info, if anymore info is needed just ask.

Windows 7 Infinite Bluescreen Reboot Loop
Aug 16, 2011My original os is windows 7. So today I connected a hard drive from a windows xp machine so I could transfer some files. When I powered the computer back on I got a blue screen right after the windows 7 loading screen and the computer rebooted. I then got the black screen asking if I want safe mode last known configuration or start windows normally. I chose start normally and i got bluescreen/rebooted back to this screen. I then chose last known good configuration and was bluescreen/rebooted back to the screen, this time I chose safe mode. Safe mode began to load files and then stopped at mup.sys bluescreened and rebooted. The system then tried to do the windows repair thing and I did the system restore option and rebooted, this didnt help and I put in my windows 7 installation cd hit repair and tried bootrec.exe, none of the options worked [fixmbr fixboot etc] and the system doesnt recognize that any OS are installed.

May 3, 2012Well, the above pretty much sums up my problem. Booted into Windows like any normal day and I was greeted with the following message on a black screen "This copy of Windows 7 is not genuine".I had an option to either go online and resolve it or an ask me later tab. I obviously clicked the former and it took me to Microsoft's validation page where it said "Validating Windows this should only take a few minutes".The result? A page where it advises which version of Windows is best for me and buy options.I know my copy is genuine and it hasn't done this before so this is new for me. I have run a virus scan and malware scan so I don't think it's virus/malware at play. Not edited the registry in any way and have done a few restarts to see if was just a glitch or the system playing silly buggers. Nope, still says it on every reboot. I now have this in the bottom right hand corner of my desktop: "Windows 7 build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine".I'm pretty stumped. Can I not just go to somewhere and put in the product key that is attached to my tower and re validate it?I have included the MGDiag tool report. Hope you can help me out. Cheers.

Win 7 RC - BlueScreen
May 9, 2009I ran the Win 7-64 Beta for a few months and it was rock-solid. Never had a problem at all. I was thrilled.
Yesterday, I did a clean install of the RC, and I've got lot's of issues.
I've had 9 random BlueScreen crashes, all while the computer was idle and I was in another room.
Boot times are around 3-4 minutes.
When shutting down, the pretty new blue artwork with the words "shutting down" stays on screen for over 10 minutes. It won't shut down, just hangs on that screen.
Any thoughts? Blow it up and try again? I can post the minidump from the BSOD crashes if any one is interested.

May 2, 2011While booting today, I received a notice that my copy of Windows is not genuine. I have had my copy of Windows 7 installed for months and I haven't done anything drastic to my system to warrant this. The notification reason is 0xC004F063 when I run slmgr.vbs /dlv.

Feb 20, 2012I have an HP Pavillion P6000 with Windows 7 Home Edition and I use Webroot Spy Sweeper weekly. I've never had any problems and suddenly last week while trying to get on IE, my home page would act like it was loading but it was just a white screen that disappeared about 10 seconds later. I tried rebooting and couldn't get windows to load after that. I tried "Repair My Computer" which told me no problems were found. Rebooted and couldn't get windows to load again. Found your website and used the F8 key, tried "Startup Repair", didn't help. Tried "Stsyem Restore" and while windows was able to come up, still couldn't use IE ans still can't open any programs. Now it's doing the same thing with windows not loading and it won't let me try to restore again. I get this message, "An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x800700b7). I tried using a different restore point also. I don't know much about computers

Dec 29, 2012I keep getting a BSOD that say either Memory Management or Page fault in nonpaged area. Now, I had this problem before, and it was bad ram (16 gb of corsair vengeance) but I replaced it with kingston hyperX and the problem seemed to go away until just recently. Its back and i have no clue what to do, since I replaced my ram and the problem came back. Could it be my motherboard that is somehow ruining my RAM? I have no idea what to do here.

Can't Click Anything / Get No Bluescreen Or Anything
Jun 20, 2011Recently I re installed Windows 7 on a new SSD I bought(OCZ Vertex 3 120gb) and the problem I'm having is that sometimes everything freezes except the mouse, I can move it around but I can't click anything. I get no response from keyboard input. I get no bluescreen or anything.What happens next is that after I reboot my computer after the crash it can't boot into Windows since it cant find any of my hard drives so it tries to boot from a CD instead. I turn off my computer, leave it off for about 10 seconds and it successfully boots into Windows again. This has happened 4 times since I installed Windows on the SSD one week ago. [code]

Bluescreen With RAID
May 12, 2009Currently I'm running the RC1. I just got two additional hard-drives to throw into a raid configuration which I set up properly within the bios (worked in XP).
The trouble is when I boot it makes it out of the BIOS and into the Starting Windows Screen. Windows bluescreens at that point. It only bluescreens when I have the RAID option enabled in my bios. I imagine that there aren't drivers for the controller?
When I go to intel's website to install their matrix controller drivers, I get this error: this computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software.

Aug 31, 2009I have an akoya Notebook with a INTEL Centrino 2 inside (2 CPU kernel, 64bit, 4 GB Mainmem) and installed Windows 7 64bit version.
First a question: Why does Windows 7 not configure automatically 2 cpu's?
I "forced" the 2 cpu mode in the msconfig menu. However, after the reboot, Windows 7 starts up but terminates with a BLUESCREEN telling me "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO"
Before, I used win vista home premium 32 bit and run it in 2 cpu mode without any hassles.
Any ideas how to "motivate" Windows 7 to use 2 cpu's and 64bit adress mode?

Nov 17, 2012My young cousin was using the computer (Win 7 in limited user mode) when something happened with the speakers. He thought he could fix the problem by restarting the computer using the on/off button. From what he told me, the computer would not restart normally. The black screen came up where you can select Safe Mode. He selected the start normally option. The computer booted to the desktop and then restarted back to the black screen. I ended up having to use the System Restore option from Safe Mode and everything seemed fine after that. I never really got to check things out properly though.
I'm going to assume that either the system settings or the registry was messed up from the sudden restart when my cousin pressed the on/off button. Would that be correct? Was the proper way to fix this by using the System Restore option? I might have chosen the "last known good configuration" option from the black screen, but it wasn't listed and I don't know if it was listed the first time that screen came up. With all the button pushing that kid did, it's a wonder the computer still works.
Windows 7 (64 Bit)- Sudden Slow Start Up Times?
Feb 17, 2011i'm having some problems with windows 7 home premium 64 bit, on my sony vaio vpceb2c5e. i got my sony vaio laptop in november 2010 so it's not too old. upon booting up windows 7 on the 15th feb 2011, i noticed the time it took windows to be functional had drastically increased from the night before when it was loaded. i hadn't installed any programs on it over the past several weeks, and about the only things i had running were google chrome (watching videos on Internet), minecraft and msn messenger.now every time when i boot up and i've logged in, i have to wait 5-10 minutes or so before i can even start to load programs or connect to a network, otherwise windows seems to not load the program i double clicked and seems to stop loading anything, but the mouse and keyboard still work and a hard shut down (holding down the power button) is required.
i tested ubuntu on the vaio and it seems to load fine, i have even tested out windows 98 which also works fine (thus eliminating the possibility of a faulty hard drive), it's just windows 7 which had suddenly got a slow load up time for me. once i have waited a long time windows seems to work fine and i can run and open everything i want, as quick as i would normally do prior to this problem.

I have overclocked my cpu to 4.5 ghz and i know its a likely cause to the bsod, however when i undo the clocking to the default settings my bsod come at the windows welcome text when starting my computer so it kinda forces my to keep the clocked settings until i figured out the cause to this. The frequency of the bsods now is very random from 1 hour to 3 hours, some times i can run fine for like 3 hours playing and everything without problems. Sometimes it lets me even stress the cpu with intel burntest which has confirmed this havent anything to do with overheating. cpu is 35c at idle and 65 full load. I had some issue with my grafikscard a about a week ago where the drivers failled and then got restored on my grafikcard monitoring program. Those problems when away when i tried to use a 550w vx psu from corsair. However my attemp to solve the bsod with trying a diffrent psu presisted so im back on my old one now again.The only cause i can see to this problem would be the psu but i hesitant to buy a new one just yet. Im really confused why it wont let my reduce the clocked settings without hammering me with bsod�s. Getting A BSOD That, According To BlueScreen View?
Feb 14, 2012Getting a BSOD that, according to BlueScreenView, was caused by the NETIO.SYS driver. The requested documentation has been attached. This BSOD seems to manifest very randomly without regard to any specific activity patterns that I can identity. Additional details are below and Please note that while perfmon says I have no virus scanner, I am running AVG free (freshly installed before the test but for some reason not picked up).Age of hardware: brand new (just put the system together 2 weeks ago) but processor, motherboard, etc. are from late 2010/early 2011 (bought parts new from newegg).

Jan 10, 2012So recently i have been having this problem when my computer shuts down without bluescreen after that trying to boot back up but usualy failing. Light turn on fans turn on for few seconds and shuts again. Stressing the system does not effect this it happens at most random times idle or stressed.
So for me this sounds most likely like a PSU problem but could it be my motherboard and how could i troubleshoot this since i dont have other PSU/MOBO.And somedays this happens very often someday it dosent happen at all.
Sudden Slow Boot - Windows 7 Has Stopped Working
Aug 28, 2011Basically, my computer is relatively powerful, i built it for gaming and its worked perfectly ever since. My computer runs windows 7, it gets to the logon screen and i logon perfectly fine. Problem is that after 5 minutes of waiting it goes to the desktop and for a further 20 minutes it is unusable. To the point where if i try to click on stuff Windows displays "Windows 7 has stopped working" etc.
I notice that for this 20 minutes on the desktop my startup applications (Like Fences, Pidgin, MS Security Essentials, Dropbox) do not start. So far i have ensured that explorer.exe is running (which it is). And I have tried other stuff like running virus scans with MalwareBytes, MS Essentials and SuperAntiSpyware (Found nothing). Temperatures of my components are fine, Graphics card around 60-75 degrees, CPU Cores at around 40-55.
My computer is specced as below:
Quad Core 3Ghz CPU
8GB Ram
Nvidia 9800GTX
