Desktop Loading Animation Makes Desktop Slow After Restarting?
Dec 29, 2012
recently i have a problem with my laptop, when restarting it loads normally but after a second desktop load something i dont know caused the desktop unclickable and the loading animation circle is still spinning, after about 2-3 minute it finished and my laptop works well as usual again (no slow), i wonder what makes that happen, sometimes its very annoying when we want to use the laptop immediately after restarting or turning on

I'm running win 7 64. When I turn the comp on it keeps restarting right whe it's at the "welcome"'screen and it just keeps booting.
Im able to boot in safe mode but not with networking- I get a blue screen if I try. I have Malwarebytes installed, ran a full scan in safe mode with no error results. I downloaded two other programs that people suggested: hijackthis and adaware, on my friends comp and saved them to an external drive bit win wouldn't let me install them.

My PC boots up, loads up my desktop and all my startup programs and then my monitor goes black, sometimes it restarts immediately, sometimes my monitor will be stuck in sleep mode while my pc is still on. This has been happening a couple of weeks now. I've check all over and so far the only "solution" is to turn off the power and remove the power cable from the tower for a few minutes, this only works temporarily, the next day I power it up, it had this problem again.

if it was an OS thing or an SSD thing. I was running Windows 7 on my OCZ Vertex 3 60GB since Christmas. On the logon screen, after I typed my password and pressed Enter, the desktop loaded in 0.5 seconds to 1 second. Everything ready to use. A few weeks ago I bought an Intel 520 120GB and did a fresh format install of Windows on it. Now though, it loads the login screen just as fast as before but from the moment I press Enter, it takes anywhere from 5-10 seconds to boot to desktop. What gives? The only thing different is that I'm dual booting now with Hackintosh, but it's still on separate drives, and my Lion drive (which is on the OCZ) is the drive where the bootloader lies. Would this be what's causing this slowness though? When I do SSD benchmarks the speeds are actually on par with my OCZ so I'm not sure I can fault the drive for this one. But I don't have anything more/less installed than before.

I am having a problem with Windows 7 64-bit loading the desktop, I get and error message that goes some thing like:
AsusSetup
C:userslucappdataXXXXXXXXXXXX.inf is lost!
I believe it is related to the chipset driver. I have already reinstalled all of the others but the chipset driver setup app will not run properly. If I run the old one it just prompts for a restart and doesn't do anything, if I run the new one it just claims I am using an unsupported OS. Is there any way to remove the chipset driver from the device manager or some other location? I am unsure of which one it is. I'll try to get a screenshot next time.
This issue just popped up out of nowhere it was running fine one day and the next this.

i5 3570K

Asus Sabertooth Z77

I'm currently having a problem with my computer in regards to what the title states, and I was hoping I could receiv I am not by any means a very tech savvy person.Turn on computer goes through the Microsoft screen and so forthWelcome loading screen comes up which is shortly replaced by a 5 minute loading screen of "Loading Desktop"After that I am put into a Temp. Profile.The message I receive is~ "Your user profile was not loaded correctlyYou have been logged on with a temporary profile."From what I understand this strongly indicates that my profile was corrupted, and this is also suggested by the research I have done. Though I was hoping it isn't so and what options are available to me

i recently purchased a new toshiba laptop with windows 7 64bit installed, which worked pretty well until i ran into a random crash a few days ago. i'm not sure why it happened, but at the time, i was running a Internet video and then i got a post on google talk. at that point, the computer froze on the sound and i wasn't able to use the mouse anymore. it acted like a stop error, even though no blue screen popped up or anything. it seems like it freezes like this when i leave the computer on for a long period of time or something. it's happened around three times, once with the google talk sound, and twice with the skype sound, and all three times Internet was opened.
anyway, ever since that initial crash, i've had a hard time starting up the computer. the first time, i attempted to run the task manager and click the "show processes from all users" button, however after clicking the button, the computer seems to hang at loading consent.exe, and the cpu was around 4% or so. i was also trying to load google chrome, but it wouldn't load either. after waiting about 5 minutes, i pressed ctrl-alt-delete, which then i got an error that the window couldn't load.the second time i tried running the task manager, i noticed that the networking and sharing center wouldn't work at all. i could run programs (that weren't internet browsers), as well as the control panel... but i couldn't open the networking and sharing window from either the control panel or the icon on the taskbar. consent.exe was hanging in this instance as well.
after those two times, i was able to get the computer working again and didn't have too many problems as long as the computer was on. ran into the problem again after successfully shutting down windows one night, then trying to turn it back on the next day. however, this was even more odd because explorer.exe crashed on its own, but i hadn't done anything since i turned the computer on. i also couldn't get the task manager open for some reason.today, after leaving the computer off since last night, i tried turning on the computer again, and once again the computer hanged on trying to load google chrome and the task manager. this time, the task manager wouldn't load, but the icon would appear in the taskbar (frozen. can't right click it or anything.) and skype was working. i made a comment on google talk, but that froze after i got a response.i was able to hit the shut down button in that instance, but after waiting 8 minutes, the windows logoff screen wouldn't show up, so i just shut it down and turned it on again.

Windows boots fine and loads the log-in screen, but usually seconds after starting to load the desktop, she gets a BSOD and the system restarts. The errors alternate between 0x000000E, 0x000000 50 and 0x000000A from what I've observed. Performance Monitor won't generate a report, giving the error "The system cannot find the path specified." I don't know how to correct for that.
Laptop model is Acer Aspire 5734Z-4725
System Specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

i just recently gotten a virus that called "smart hdd virus". i googled it and and tried to remove it in safe mode, and i think i halfly removed it cause i got rid of the s.m.a.r.t. repair popups. i think i downloaded a antivirus i think it may have been a tracking cookie virus. i dont remember how though. now, whenver i login into windows 7 laptop, the desktop and files take a whole lot more to load than usual, i would click the start button and there would be no files loading up, it took atleast maybe 5 minutes to come up. then whenever i try to navigate through the start button im not able to because i cant access the desktop and its takes forever to load, there is a circlish loading bar on it so i have no access to the desktop whatsoever. the only way i can access files is through the start button but that doesnt help much. oh and whenever i try to open my browser it would take a really long time as with other programs as well. and whenver im trying to login through sites like Internet, facebook, and twitter, they wont let me login and im using opera internet browser. i think this is cookie virus im not sure and this has been happening for the past 4 days i cant get ride of it.

I have been noticing a gradual increase in boot time to the desktop - not actually sure when it was relatively normal. However yesterday it took so long to get there ( 5 minutes plus), I though it was not going to boot up. Did eventually get there after a few reboots.
This morning it's still slow but at least I'm getting there. System seems fine once it's up and running. This is what I'm getting;
Black post screen - seems to take a while to initialise USB controllers - around 30 seconds or so. Goes onto Windows splash screen - sits there for around 20 seconds.
Screen then goes black - monitor says "no signal detected" - sits there for around 30 seconds Welcome screen appears with whirring thing in the middle - around 20 seconds
Desktop appears but can take around a minute to fully load. Going into event manager and viewing the ID 100 log shows;
Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance/Operational
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance
Date: 27/10/2012 10:57:58

Have setup RD for Win 7 64 Ultimate (both boxes) on internal LAN. Connects no problem and the LAN operates at almost full Gbps when moving files between the two. I've disabled the A/V and firewall (Kaspersky A/V 2012 on client, MSE on host) but no changes.Even with all the RDP options stripped down it is slow. Should it not be at virtual speed even with all the bells & whistles across the LAN?

When I try to do a clean install of Windows 7 I get the loading files white progress bar you normally get during an installation, it then goes directly to the scrolling progress bar that would normally appear before a Windows startup, and then goes to a blank Windows 7 desktop with only a cursor (that I can move).I have a computer with the following specs:[CODE]I have tried to install with every version I can get my hands on, both 32 and 64 bit. None of them are upgrade versions. I've tried installing on a fresh WD Raptor and an Intel G25 SSD. All other drives have been disconnected. I've moved my memory around and tried with one stick. My mainboard has the latest official BIOS, although there is a new beta.
I ran the Windows 7 compatibility test and didn't see anything that would cause this problem.I have searched the internet and have not been able to find a solution sonstalling Windows XP has never been a problem, just Windows 7, always with the same problem.This is one of the few times when I have not been able to look around a find an existing answer to a problem and I am stumped.

When right clicking on the desktop. You can Create a new Folder, Enter the Nvidia Control Panel (and I do often), go to personalize, and something else I do often. "Refresh" I right click and do refresh all the time. It's a bad habit I started in XP.
Basically When I first loaded 7.. it seemed fine. I installed a bunch of drivers, so I'm not sure what one did it. But now when I right click while I'm on the desktop. It takes a solid 3 or so seconds to pop-up.. that is WAY to slow. Vista it was instant.. and Windows 7 was at first also.
Everything else seems speedy. Starting from Shutdown.. opening programs. Everything is pretty speedy. But the right click feature I use often. It's really slow.
Also, when I right click on Taskbar, or any of the desktop icons, it's super Fast. only the right click on the actual desktop.
I think I might go back to WHQL Nvidia driver instead of the BETA for 7. that is what I think I'll try first.

my new i7 laptop seems really slow and sluggish compared to my old AMD x2 desktop computer which I built 6 years ago. [code]I initially thought it may be all the bloat ware that Lenovo added onto the machine so I wiped it all and put on a clean Windows 7 Home Premium 64 on it and nothing else however its still slow.how to speed up this beast and make the whole experience a little less time consuming.

On the Win7 (64-Bit) I notice lately that the desktop icons are slow to display. They start with 'white boxes' and then slowly they fill-in with the correct icon.I tried the following, and now the icons show right away, but then the screen blinks (for lack of a better word) and the icons show as 'white boxes' and then in a second or two they return to the regular (colored) icons. Anything else I can do to make the icons appear as fast as they did orginally and stay that way rather than turning "white" and then changing back to the regular colored icons?
1. Close all folder windows that are currently open.
2. Launch Task Manager using the CTRL+SHIFT+ESC key sequence, or by running taskmgr.exe.
3. In the Process tab, right-click on the Explorer.exe process and select End Process.
4. Click the End process button when asked for confirmation.
5. From the File menu of Task Manager, select New Task (Run...)
6. Type CMD.EXE, and click OK
7. In the Command Prompt window, type the commands one by one and press ENTER after each command:
CD /d %userprofile%AppDataLocal
DEL IconCache.db /a
EXIT
8. In Task Manager, click File, select New Task (Run...)
9. Type EXPLORER.EXE, and click OK. =====================
After the icons show the first time (when computer is turned on), I notice the MSE icnon in lower right has a red X on top of it and when the X goes away (in a sec or so) the icons turn white and then in a second go back to their ususal color. If I click on the MSE icon (with the red cross on it) the MSE will open and in RED it states "Real Time Protection is Not Turned On." And then in a second or two the Red Cross goes away and the the wording turns Green. I think there might be something wrong with the MSE or it does NOT work well with Win 7 64 Bit. Maybe I should do a System Restore, to remove MSE and get back AVG?

I know there are very similar threads but like I said I cannot find a solution. [code] I recently noticed the transfer rate really slow, at an average about 1.5MB/s.I have tried enabling Better Performance option but what happens is that it starts really fast and then goes down to about 1.5MB/s anyways and usually just freezes or stops.I also have a laptop, its an Acer Aspire AS5745DG-6681. Specifications are:Intel Core i5-480M, 15.6" HD (1366x768) LED-backlit, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Blu-ray Combo Drive, NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M 1GB, Wireless N, HDMI, Webcam, 9-cell, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.I updated the RAM to 8GB on the laptop.Using the same external hard drive, I can get rates at an average of 30MB/s and better performance is also disabled on the laptop.I Don't know what the difference is they both have Windows 7 64 bit, just the laptop is Home Premium and my desktop is Windows 7 Enterprise.

When I save files from programs (aka Word, Photoshop, anything)onto my Desktop, I cannot see them directly from the actual desktop. I can only see them when I open up Explorer, and click on the Desktop tab. Then all my files are visible. I thought they were hidden...but they apparently aren't.It possibly seems like a refresh error.I did find a way around this..I go to Control Panel >> Appearance and Personalization >> Under Folder Options >> Show Hidden Files and Folders. I click on Reset folders, Apply, and then OK, and my missing files pop up on my actual desktop.But from then on, any new files I save are only visible in Explorer again. I don't want to go to Control Panel everytime I have to save something to the desktop? I've run Norton and Microsoft Essentials and I have no viruses. What can I do?I just found out I can also see my files after pressing f5 (refresh)so I guess the problem is HOW do I get my computer to refresh the desktop automatically?
