How can I improve the start-up time on this brand new Dell computer? It takes almost 2 minutes before Windows 7 even begins to load. Something is clearly wrong. There are hardly any devices attached ([printer, wireless mouse & keyboard, and an external hard drive for back-up), and no bells and whistles at all, not even a word processing program yet

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a Vantec NexStar TX NST-210S2-BK Hard Drive Enclosure - 2.5" SATA to USB 2.0 wit a 120 GB Segate Harddrive in it connected to an Asus K61-IC laptop and my transfer speeds on all my USB Ports are acting super slow.Also, Just recently I've had a balloon tip start popping up in the taskbar telling me that if I hook my USB Devices up to a USB 2.0 Port it will run faster. I'm pretty sure that all my USB Port's are 2.0.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got some bad malware and removed it with a complete re-install of windows 7. I deleted all partitions and re-installed Windows 7 from that point. I went to the Gateway website and got all of the drivers for the equipment on the computer and it still runs painfully slow. I've run CCcleaner several times, done DSKCHK (because I suspected my hard drive might be faulty) and everything says I have no problems.

In the last few days my netbook for no apparent reason has gone super slow. Chrome takes ages to load webpages when it use to take a second. The computer is very unresponsive. When I check the task manager the processes list is stuffed up. The processes keep jumping up and down the list. Sometimes a process is at the top of list but a second later it's at the bottom of list. As soon as I log in my cpu usage is a 100% when i have no applications running. I'm scanning with avast now and then will scan with Malwarebytes.

Why my pc is lagging so much?
I have an Acer Aspire timeline computer I bought 2 years ago. This computer advertised great battery life, internal cooling, and all sorts of other cool things....unfortunately, it was all a lie. But enough about that, As of like 3 days ago, I noticed my computer would respond slowly and take forever to complete a shutdown. I thought nothing of it until I decided to scan it usingSuperAntiSpyware. It came back with 40 tracking cookies, which I deleted. Upon rebooting my computer, I noticed it was still running slowly. So I decided a system restore would be niceI tried the first availible restore date. That apparently failed. Then I tried several others, with no success. I kept getting error codes telling me that the system restore failed to extract the file. It said the disk failiure might have been caused by bad sectors....I have no idea what that means. Ive tried multiple restore dates, they all come back with the same message.
I do not have Norton on my computer ( I read this was part of the problem in many other machines with the same restore error, but just to make it clear, that is not part of the problem with my computer). I can only use my computer in safe mode, because the regular boot mode is wayy too slow and laggy. Also I have plenty space on my computer so it couldnt possibly be slowing down because its getting full or something.
I have had this problem ever since the summer. I would tell you the speeds I'm getting from testmy.net, but the page is still loading. It's been over 30 minutes.Anyway, I have installed the drivers for the motherboard that came with the disc and such, and I still have no success. It is really annoying at this point, basically not being able to use my computer.

Now suddenly, when I'm trying to go into large websites, everything takes halfway to forever to load. I even restored to any earlier point. Still the same problem. (By the way, I had difficulty restoring. I kept getting error messages. In the end I uninstalled Kaspersky, restored to an earlier point, reinstalled Kaspersky.)
View 8 Replies View RelatedFirst off my power supply went out. It was a 450watt one I ordered and replaced it with a 750watt power supply. After I replaced the power supply, my computer would not boot, When the power supply went out it was in the middle of updating windows. So I formatted the hard drive and did a clean install of windows, reloaded all my drivers and extra programs. At that point my computer was running great.
I decided to uninstall Bing tool bar, and windows live sign in assistant. it prompted my to reboot. When I rebooted the computer, after about 30 minutes it still had not come up to the desktop, I could boot up in safe mode and it would run fine. I did a system restore, no change, I did a start up repair, no change, Tested the memory it came back fine.
At that point and reformatted the hard drive again, I had another hard drive formatted it and put the install CD in and after 8 hours it is still trying to install Windows 7, No errors just really really slow. So I have replaced the power supply, hard drive, and ran a memory test with no errors, done a clean install of windows. Running Windows 7 64 bit, 4 gig of Ram, 2.8 dual core processor, 1 gig video card, 500 gig hard drive.
I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with SP 1 original unmodified MS Technet ISO to a blank Crucial RealSSD C300 SSD drive and it is taking hours to do that. The last time I did the install it took almost 4 hours to copy the files, I tried it from a DVD drive and from an external USB-HDD and there was no speed difference. After the installation was done, the SSD was very fast though, no problems at all then.
Now I have to install again and I do not want to wait again a half day just for the files to copy. My Mainboard is a ASROCK 870 Extreme 3 , I use AHCI , AMD AHCI Bios is disabled and AHCI is enabled for SATA3_5 and 6 .
I have a dell desktop less than a year old. It suddenly refused to start today. There was nothing new added from last shut down until start up(that didn't start) I have no idea where to start since I am useless with computer issues. Any ideas to start? I did run the start up repair...useless.

What could cause this, and is there a way for it to start up faster? I mean, even once I get to my desk top, it takes a few minutes before I can even click anything. View 2 Replies View Relatedi just recently gotten a virus that called "smart hdd virus". i googled it and and tried to remove it in safe mode, and i think i halfly removed it cause i got rid of the s.m.a.r.t. repair popups. i think i downloaded a antivirus i think it may have been a tracking cookie virus. i dont remember how though. now, whenver i login into windows 7 laptop, the desktop and files take a whole lot more to load than usual, i would click the start button and there would be no files loading up, it took atleast maybe 5 minutes to come up. then whenever i try to navigate through the start button im not able to because i cant access the desktop and its takes forever to load, there is a circlish loading bar on it so i have no access to the desktop whatsoever. the only way i can access files is through the start button but that doesnt help much. oh and whenever i try to open my browser it would take a really long time as with other programs as well. and whenver im trying to login through sites like Internet, facebook, and twitter, they wont let me login and im using opera internet browser. i think this is cookie virus im not sure and this has been happening for the past 4 days i cant get ride of it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been noticing a gradual increase in boot time to the desktop - not actually sure when it was relatively normal. However yesterday it took so long to get there ( 5 minutes plus), I though it was not going to boot up. Did eventually get there after a few reboots.
This morning it's still slow but at least I'm getting there. System seems fine once it's up and running. This is what I'm getting;
Black post screen - seems to take a while to initialise USB controllers - around 30 seconds or so. Goes onto Windows splash screen - sits there for around 20 seconds.
Screen then goes black - monitor says "no signal detected" - sits there for around 30 seconds Welcome screen appears with whirring thing in the middle - around 20 seconds
Desktop appears but can take around a minute to fully load. Going into event manager and viewing the ID 100 log shows;

The fan runs about 4700 rpm all the time.The fan is slightly out of balance so a small vibration can be felt.

I've disabled the A/V and firewall (Kaspersky A/V 2012 on client, MSE on host) but no changes.Even with all the RDP options stripped down it is slow. Should it not be at virtual speed even with all the bells & whistles across the LAN?

In the last 5 days when i start up my computer.windows 7 gets all the way to signing in then it just stalls for 5 minutes, then it finally logs in. After that it freezes up programs and sometimes i have to keep rebooting until the system decides to run smooth an not get stuck.I have run iorbit maleware, windows defender(but that freezes up), advance system care 5, i run windows update, and my anti virus program is avast. View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my XPS caught fire and my mom gave me her old computer as she got a new one.i threw some good parts from my XPS into this Dimention 8400 so it has better specs to run windows 7.3GB of ram and my X800XT radeon videocard and the 3.0GHz HT 64 bit processorNow i installed windows 7 32 bit ultimate from my XPS and it takes 20 seconds to get to the logon screen, but after that once you log in the "Loading" screen takes 3-6 mins along with once the desktop shows up it takes another 5 mins or so to even press the start button and bring the start menu up, 45 seconds to 2 mins to bring the internet up and this is a FRESH install, as of like....20 mins from this post it finished installing. not even activated yet
