View 2 RepliesI'm currently having a problem with my computer in regards to what the title states, and I was hoping I could receiv I am not by any means a very tech savvy person.Turn on computer goes through the Microsoft screen and so forthWelcome loading screen comes up which is shortly replaced by a 5 minute loading screen of "Loading Desktop"After that I am put into a Temp. Profile. The message I receive is~ "Your user profile was not loaded correctlyYou have been logged on with a temporary profile."From what I understand this strongly indicates that my profile was corrupted, and this is also suggested by the research I have done. Though I was hoping it isn't so and what options are available to me
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know this issue is a popular evergreen. But I have done my best to go through this forum and all others to find advice - but this time everything I have read doesnot So once again a thread on temp accounts, HP Elitebook 8540w,Windows 7 professional x64 OEM,local network with XP computers as work group,I use the preinstalled system for a year now, automatic Windows updates were disabled in the recent days, system protected by Avast my personal account with admin rights (I call it "xxx") was on D:users with a link in C:users pointing to it (with mklink /d xxx "d:Usersxxx")this had always worked fine, yesterday my system crashed in a BSOD when loading an online 3D viewer. Not the first bluescreen on this system, but for the first time with lasting effects: when I login to "xxx" I only get a temp account (blank default desktop) and the message that the path c:windowssystem32configsystemprofiledesktop is not accessible. This is still the case. Additionally all new accounts I create start up as temp accounts with the same message. Luckily the original admin account is still alright.(all failed, logging into anything apart from "administrator" opens a temp account and brings up the systemprofiledesktop message!

View 3 Replies View Relatedsince about two weeks ago, every two times I power my laptop on, windows fails to load the my user profile and greets me with the temp user profile where I can't access my files and such. however, if I reboot after that it loads my user profile sucessfully. but if I reboot again It loads the temp profile. I scanned unsing My antivirus, and it turned up no bad results. I then tried a disk check, but it only was on for less then 5 seconds when it just said "the disk is clean." i'm not sure what to do now. any suggestions? it's really irritataing having to constantly reboot every time i turn my laptop on.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI transferred photos, through Bluetooth, from my Blackberry to my laptop that is running Windows 7. They appeared in a Temp file (under Local) but have since disappeared. Is there a way to retrieve them? Does this mean I have something on my computer that automatically deletes these files?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe OS installed some updates, and after re-booting and logging on, I got an error when one application that tried to start up failed to access my local temp file. I have local administrative permissions. I changed my temp folder environment variable to point to a different location, but this is the second time this has happened (first time was on different machine). "Cacls Temp returns Access is denied". I can't take ownership or anything of it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have the GPO setup at our company which deletes a copy of local profile after 1 day. All our PC are XP Windows 7 What we are finding is for some reason on log off or on startup it is trying to delete a profile but cant and event viewer show errors either with event code 1533 or 1530 Description:Windows cannot delete the profile directory C:Users<username>. This error may be caused by files in this directory being used by another program. DETAIL - The directory is not empty. When it cant delete the profile it the goes to put a local copy of the profile in the users folder as username.001, .002 etc All that is left is a couple of empty folders. (each time the folders are different) the are no security on this folder and they can be delete manually. Now i did google this and i know this is quite a know issue with the profiles not always being delete. I know about the tools used like uphclean etc which help with this problem alot of people face but its there a permanant fix for this or is this just typical behaviour that we all must live with?

I've tried reinstalling, scanpst.exe, /safe, /resetnavpane, recreating profiles.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've quite some Windows machines in my home network running XP Professional, Win7 Professional, Premium and Starter. Since about two weeks, EVERY system is complaining occasionally about local profiles that cannot be found after switching user (or on Starter, logging off and logging on to another user). The exact message is 'Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile'. Only by rebooting I'm able to get into my original profile.
Since I have seen this multiple times on XP, Win7 Starter and Win7 Professional, and only since about two weeks, this rather points to some 'fix' that I received with Windows Update. At least I can not imagine another reason.
I have this problem with Asus p5q3 motherboard my system temp goes up to 60-70(celsius) and cpu (intel core 2 quad q9550) temp is low as 30-40(celsius). So how can system temp be that high?

then I couln't open some shorcuts (windows cannot find the target. and my utorrent setting reset as well, like if I had never used it, BUT the guest account works perfectly.

Originally I had all my data files in drive D and only programs in drive C. Somehow my old user profile got corrupted and the Backgound wall paper is not working properly. So I created a new admin profile to fix it but now I have a mess. After I created a new admin profile and moved the old users folder/files to the new user , I decided to delete the old profile after everything seems to be working properly . When deleting the old profile I elected to save old user files to my desktop ( fortunately) . I now have a very fragmented system . Some of the folder/files are still under my old username in D drive, nothing in my new user name in D drive plus almost all of the folder/files from the old user ( in drive D) are now in a folder on the desktop where windows elected to place them when I elected to save the folders/files. I really need all the old user folders.I would like to have the Data in either under my old or new username in Drive D instead of fragmented all over the place. I realize I ended up in this situation because I didnt understand fully what windows will do when creating and deleting user profiles.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy computer is old and has small hard drive space, and someone recommended I delete my %temp%, my temp, and my prefetch folder, but I was just wondering, since I had to do a whole lot of searching ,and downloading of drivers, (just to make my computer compatible with windows 7), where all my downloaded drivers are? And if deleting any of these folders will screw up my drivers, and give me problems, and I would have to find the drivers again.
(Also I don't really know what the drivers are called, so I can't really search for them) Because I really wanna delete these folders to make my computer faster, because on XP, where my drivers always worked and I never needed to update them, I deleted those folders all the time, and it made it faster because those folders had a crapload of stuff in them, but I don't want my computer to not be compatible with the games/videos/music/etc. I use it for.
i installed a new windows 7 pc and am trying to move my windows xp .icm display profile over and it is not working. is there a conversion process that i can do to make this work? i have attached the profile i am trying to use. this profile worked fine on my old XP machine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have installed SharePoint 2010 on my Windows 7 laptop, and it works fine. But all the services that are installed will always start and use a lot of resources, even when I don't use the application.
It is possible to only start all the involved services (like SQL Server, IIS etc.) when I tell it to or to only have them start when I log on with a special user account?
I completed the transfer but I am having permissions and access problems to various files and folders. What is the correct way to release the security or permissions for files and folders?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I recall, there was a way in windows to setup different boot configurations. I can't remember where/how to do it (did it long long time ago.) What I'm trying to achieve is that I've got two new laptops coming and need to decide which one to keep. So I basically want to use each one for a few days before I decide. I want to take my current SSD in my Thinkpad out and put it the new machines so I have all my apps and settings the same as I'm used too (and no bloatware to deal with.) Typically when I migrate, I do this and then just load the drivers necessary for the different components on the new machine. But I don't want to overwrite my current drive config. So essentially I want three machine profiles, one for current machine and one each for each of the two new machines. Will this work okay?

I've switched from Windows Live Mail 2011 to Thunderbird 6.0.1. I've seen two backup plans here for Thunderbird--1) use Mozbackup, and 2) copy the entire Thunderbird folder in the AppData folder. Does anyone have an idea on which method is more reliable, or are both plans equally reliable? I'm way too chicken to test both.
