Now I have seen that when the user tries to login to the account he can see a message saying that the user profile is not loaded correct manner. After that it just gets the user logged in an account. After seeing the login I have seen that Windows make the loggin for that user in with a temporary profile.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use my laptop at home and also in my work. But I have got a problem with diference in workgroups. In work we use workgroup A and at home I use workgroup B. I also use two accounts. One in work and second at home.
I need to set up one workgroup in home account and another workgroup in work account.
I use win 7 proffesional. But in both networks are computers with XP and Vista.
I have a folder that mirrors my user profile in Windows. It is not a shortcut, but an exact duplicate which will cause any changes in either to be affected in sync. If I delete a folder in one, the folder is deleted in the other. The second folder is named "Test". I am unable to change the name on the duplicate profile and it does not show up when I access User Accounts.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm well aware that you can boot from the CD and do a quick format during Windows 7 installation, but that's not what I need. I want wipe the disk in it's entirety before installing Windows. I'm getting some weird messages about disk errors during start-up and the EVGA tech support suggested that my last fresh install (done earlier today) didn't remove everything that was on the hard drive. I can't remember what he called it, but he said it could be less than a kb and cause the motherboard to try and boot from a partition that doesn't exist, giving me the errors. Is there some kind of formatting utility I can burn to a disc and wipe my local disk with?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe have the GPO setup at our company which deletes a copy of local profile after 1 day. All our PC are XP Windows 7 What we are finding is for some reason on log off or on startup it is trying to delete a profile but cant and event viewer show errors either with event code 1533 or 1530 Description:Windows cannot delete the profile directory C:Users<username>. This error may be caused by files in this directory being used by another program. DETAIL - The directory is not empty. When it cant delete the profile it the goes to put a local copy of the profile in the users folder as username.001, .002 etc All that is left is a couple of empty folders. (each time the folders are different) the are no security on this folder and they can be delete manually. Now i did google this and i know this is quite a know issue with the profiles not always being delete. I know about the tools used like uphclean etc which help with this problem alot of people face but its there a permanant fix for this or is this just typical behaviour that we all must live with?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI log into an account on the computer along with several other people. I've recently ran into a problem that another coworker appears to be deaf and maxes out the volume on their account and it carries over to all over accounts. The person does not realize after several attempts to show them that maxing out the volume on the desktop doesn't work and that they should adjust the volume knob on the powered speakers to increase volume if they need to. Otherwise as soon as you turn on the speaker you get everything maxed out even at the lowest volume setting.
You have to turn the knob too get the speaker to turn on and when it turns on its at minimum volume.. So is there a way to separate everyone's volume preferences between accounts? I'm really unsure why her personal settings for volume carry over to everyone elses account, specifically me. I think the person who installed her on the machine also gave her admin rights like myself but the deaf worker isn't as tech savvy as myself.
I've been playing around with the OEM folder used for custom branded OEM installs. I've figured out how to set the OEM info and add custom wallpapers and screen savers to the install media. What I haven't figured out is how you actually set the default wallpaper or screen saver during the install? If someone knows where the info is stored in the registry I can probably do it with a reg file like I do the OEM info displayed on the system screen. I've been testing by installing from a USB thumb drive. Once I have everything the way I want it I'll burn a DVD of the final version.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am a lab technician for Microsoft classes at a community college. One of our students somehow messed up his hard drive. The computer is running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit. The system has two administrator accounts and one standard user account. I am still able to logon with those accounts and there are SID keys for each of these users in the registry.
Now when we create a new user, the account is created without any problems. The user shows up on the logon page and after running the net user command, it shows up there as well. When I try to logon with the new user, I get a message: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.
None of the new user accounts show up in the registry. The other anomaly that I see is that the Default User folder is missing in each of the Users subdirectory for the three accounts where I have no problems.
I have read the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 947215 and none of the methods apply to my problem. I also checked Local Group Policies and the Do not logon users with temporary profiles setting is not configured.
I am used to setting up xp machines where i would log in as myself and make all of the desktop, network and shell changes and copy my profile over top of the default user profile. this would ensure that any user logging into the computer for the first time would have the setup I want them to have so they can start working right away.Is there a tutorial on how to do this on windows 7?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Windows 7 Home Premium x64 spontaneously started using C:UsersPublic as its default profile and as such all my usual settings have turned to poop. Things were working fairly fine but I was having a couple little errors like when I was trying to change my wallpaper so I thought I would do a restart. When it booted back up most of my normal desktop icons had gone. When I booted up Firefox all my usual addons and the way I have it set up was gone or different.
I was concerned as I thought I had lost all my desktop icons so I opened up C:UsersMY PROPER USER NAMEDesktop and all my icons were sitting in that folder. I right clicked on one of the icons on my desktop and saw that it said it was residing at C:UsersPublic. Also if I open up "my documents" or "my pictures" etc. all my normal stuff isn't there as it is using C:UsersPublicDocuments etc. I'm also afraid that it'll be using a LOT of wrong settings for my programs as it doesn't seem to be accessing "MY REAL USERNAMEAppdata" for some things (ie. Firefox).
I had been using my computer perfectly all morning (and it's been flawless for months). Put it to sleep this arvo which is something I don't do very often at all. Woke it back up a few hours later and everything was totally fine. Went to boot up ME3 for the first time and it gave an error saying I must "update to the latest PhysX" error. I downloaded and installed the latest PhysX. The game booted fine. I exited the game, was getting a strange error when I tried to change my wallpaper, thought I would reboot, and ever since it hasn't bee accessing my profile.
Since windows 98, We have always been able to do the first time logon, setup all the applications, desktop settings, IE settings, everything, with a 'profile' user. We then rebooted the machine, logged on as administrator and Deleted the contents of the 'default user' folder and copied that 'profile' user sub folders into the 'default user' folder. We would then reset the permissions on that, 'default user' and all the sub folders of the 'default user' folder to allow access. This way when ANY user logs into the machine all the settings are as they should be rather than having to go through them all again from the beginning each and every time a FTL (first time logon) occurs.
It is also very good when a profile becomes corrupted and you have to start over. When I try this in windows 7 64bit I've now messed it up so that any new user that logs in gets an error message saying they've been logged in with temporary profile and all changes will be lost when log out. Although, all the setting seem to be there. So I'm just missing the something that tells windows 7 this new default is ok. Can this still be done? What are the steps now? What has changed and how do we accomplish this, at one time, simple task? {I have done this successfully with Vista 32 bit} .
I accidentally set my computer to factory default, and I really want my previous admin account that has all my programs installed, how do I get it back?! How do I get my previous profile admin back?!i have lots of programs installed in there!

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a computer with three partitions, the first with 100GB exclusively to Windows 7 (already installed), a partition for applications and another partition for personal files (photos, text, music, movies, etc.). I wonder how to configure the location of "My Documents", so that all users have only their personal files on drive of personal files. In Windows Explorer changed in each of the users the location of the Documents, Music, Video and Pictures.
- After changed the location of the folders above, there is still the same folders in C:users , and there are user settings that are there defined, eg Desktop, in C:Users. Is there any way to move all settings and folders to another drive?
- Is there any way to do this operation automatic? for future users I will have to repeat the same operation, how can I indicate that all future users will have their settings and documents specified in this specific drive?
I installed some applications and found that some applications did not demand that the location where it was set to be installed the application, having been installed in C:users and C:Program Files, intended that all applications (except for windows and Office) were installed in drive applications. How do I specify that this is the default drive for installation applications? Keeping the installations of Windows + Office in this drive. Applications installed by the administrator are available for all users or must be given access to other users ? How done? In the drive file, which should contain the users and shared files, meant that each user only gets access their documents and shared. Where and how can make this configuration?
I would like to set the default folder view to be set to details, and control panel view set to small icons. I would like this set for the default user profile. What the relevant registry entries are ?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've quite some Windows machines in my home network running XP Professional, Win7 Professional, Premium and Starter. Since about two weeks, EVERY system is complaining occasionally about local profiles that cannot be found after switching user (or on Starter, logging off and logging on to another user). The exact message is 'Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile'. Only by rebooting I'm able to get into my original profile.
Since I have seen this multiple times on XP, Win7 Starter and Win7 Professional, and only since about two weeks, this rather points to some 'fix' that I received with Windows Update. At least I can not imagine another reason.
i get these two notification with my internet. To be more specific it's these two:Local area connection doesn't have a valid ip address and The default gateway is not available.I tried several things from other posts but that was unsuccessful like:Disabling and enabling my network adapter and trying to find a Bonjour thing in my services. How i am connected:The basic modem connects through wire to another Ethernet switch and from there i go with an ethernet cable to my PC. {i also have a wireless router connected there for wifi connection to be available but that doesn't seem to be a problem for me}Anyway i found to unplug the switch to be working most of the times to be working."the reason i use a switch is because i am subscribed to some channels from my internet company that the tv-box must have a static ip if i am correct and connecting it directly to the wireless router found not to be working".

so I was on my desktop main account and then let my dad log on to a guest account I recently created for him since his laptop isn't working, then when I came back I logged onto my profile I couldn't open any browser, in the case of firefox this came up (firefox can't load host something, missing profile) and chrome (your preferences cannot be read)

Originally I had all my data files in drive D and only programs in drive C. Somehow my old user profile got corrupted and the Backgound wall paper is not working properly. So I created a new admin profile to fix it but now I have a mess. After I created a new admin profile and moved the old users folder/files to the new user , I decided to delete the old profile after everything seems to be working properly . When deleting the old profile I elected to save old user files to my desktop ( fortunately) . I now have a very fragmented system . Some of the folder/files are still under my old username in D drive, nothing in my new user name in D drive plus almost all of the folder/files from the old user ( in drive D) are now in a folder on the desktop where windows elected to place them when I elected to save the folders/files. I really need all the old user folders.I would like to have the Data in either under my old or new username in Drive D instead of fragmented all over the place. I realize I ended up in this situation because I didnt understand fully what windows will do when creating and deleting user profiles.

i am using windows 7. i have never been able to create any accounts other than my administrator account & the one account i use for all my general computer use. i have been using norton 360 with no problems. i have resorted to just using any "log in/log out' links on all the sites my husband wants to use.i am really not all that confident doing anything super technical to fix this, since i don't have a real understanding of different extensions or types of files. i am afraid i could really mess everything up really bad. but, it would just be SO MUCH EASIER & FASTER if i had my account & my husband had his own account.
My wife's Dell desktop (after a nighttime thunderstorm) will not permit her to log on. When she enters the password she gets the following message: "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. View 5 Replies View RelatedMy issue is that i would like to be able to have media center audio play only through my tv and not through my pc main speaker system, tv is hooked through hdmi output on graphics card, speaker system through 5.1 output on motherboard. I have tried the audiorenderupdater extender but all that does is set default audio out for entire system, so when itunes is used or game is played on computer audio goes through tv. I would like all system noises, media player, and game audio to run through pc speakers and simultaneously all media center audio (recorded/live tv) to go through tv audio, so i can watch sports center while playing mass effect and have audio from sportscenter on tv audio from mass effect on pc speakers.
Also is there a way to separate media player's actions from media center's. For example if you are laying music in media player and then open media center and play a tv show, music playback stops, not a big deal just like media player better than itunes and would like to be able to watch tv in media center while playing music in media player rather than itunes
