Is it possible to hide a user profile and still using it by changing the login screen to ask both username and password?I know that usually on the login screen I can only see profiles that aren�t hidden (which makes logging to a hidden account impossible), but if I change the logging on to ask both username and password can I log in to that hidden profile?

Yesterday I shutdown my system and when next morning I start my system my administration account was gone means there was administartor account but like fresh copy of new profile. All my file related to that profile is gone. Everything under user directory is gone documents,download every thing. And more worst everytime I login in to that account it show different wallpaper.
View 5 Replies View Relatedso I was on my desktop main account and then let my dad log on to a guest account I recently created for him since his laptop isn't working, then when I came back I logged onto my profile I couldn't open any browser, in the case of firefox this came up (firefox can't load host something, missing profile) and chrome (your preferences cannot be read)
then I couln't open some shorcuts (windows cannot find the target. and my utorrent setting reset as well, like if I had never used it, BUT the guest account works perfectly.
I'm able to open firefox with open as administrator but all addons, bookmarks are gone, I can't open the document, picture, and music links on the start menu either
I was checking Microsoft Office Word Starter 2010 and I realized that one of the files had hidden text in it. From Options - Display, I chose show hidden text and it was "Top of Form" at the top of the page. But I got curious about this and made some search and I realized that you can hide text in a txt file with a stream method and also there can be hidden streams in processes also.How can I find out if a doc(x) file has no streams in it. I mean the hidden text may be seen by the method of Options - Display; but can someone hide something with a password in a doc(x) file? If yes, how can I find this out?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSome of my important system files are no longer hidden and I can't hide them even with the Command Prompt "attrib" command. Files such as bootmgr and ntldr are shown and I can't hide them. Also, show Protected System files is unchecked and show hidden files is also unchecked so they shouldn't be showing. I tried to re-add their system file attribute but I keep getting an "Access Denied" error in CMD and I do not have user account control on and I'm on a Default Administrator Account.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOriginally I had all my data files in drive D and only programs in drive C. Somehow my old user profile got corrupted and the Backgound wall paper is not working properly. So I created a new admin profile to fix it but now I have a mess.After I created a new admin profile and moved the old users folder/files to the new user , I decided to delete the old profile after everything seems to be working properly . When deleting the old profile I elected to save old user files to my desktop ( fortunately) . I now have a very fragmented system . Some of the folder/files are still under my old username in D drive, nothing in my new user name in D drive plus almost all of the folder/files from the old user ( in drive D) are now in a folder on the desktop where windows elected to place them when I elected to save the folders/files. I really need all the old user folders.I would like to have the Data in either under my old or new username in Drive D instead of fragmented all over the place. I realize I ended up in this situation because I didnt understand fully what windows will do when creating and deleting user profiles.

i am using windows 7. i have never been able to create any accounts other than my administrator account & the one account i use for all my general computer use. i have been using norton 360 with no problems. i have resorted to just using any "log in/log out' links on all the sites my husband wants to use.i am really not all that confident doing anything super technical to fix this, since i don't have a real understanding of different extensions or types of files. i am afraid i could really mess everything up really bad. but, it would just be SO MUCH EASIER & FASTER if i had my account & my husband had his own account.
My wife's Dell desktop (after a nighttime thunderstorm) will not permit her to log on. When she enters the password she gets the following message: "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded". Has anyone encountered this issue and is there a user fix, or should we take the computer back to where it was bought for service?

I know in XP there is an file which shows all installed programs and some have the word hidden at the beggining of the file name, which keeps the program name out of add & remove - I presume the same is true of Windows 7?

Anyway, side effect of it: it hides a bunch of your files so it can do its malware thing. Solution: I unhid everything on my C: to avoid any problems. I am having problems with some pictures which i had hidden in my old laptop (windows vista) and cant seem to get access to them on my new laptop (windows 7), all i see is a shaded out box.I have tried unhidding it using properties but still no joy. The drive itself is a Western Digital. Within the last two months, whenever I move files (it started as photos, but now it can be any file) the files are somehow being marked as hidden. Under 'Folder Options' I have to turn on the option to see hidden files, then untick the 'Hidden' box under file attributes on the affected file. It seems that the files that this happens to are random. For example, I can move a group of photos from the 'Pictures' library folder to another folder on the hand drive, and only some of those pictures will wind up being hidden after moved.

Is there a way to create a hidden windows 7 Ctrl Alt Del Screen? The enter a manual password and username only shows up when you press the three buttons but there is still a way to select users. I want to do this because I am setting a hidden account up and the only way to get in to it is by having a hidden account. Problem is I don't want people to know about the Ctrl Alt Del feature unless the press the right keys.

Before on XP I had a hidden admin account and all I had to do was CTRL+ALT+DELETE and it would bring up my account, with windows 7 it doesn't seem to work this way. Now to be 100% clear, I don't want the default admin account (for trouble shooting) all I want is a second admin account that if needed can access user accounts on my laptop from the log-on screen by hitting some combination of keys.
