Only Disk 0 Unallocated space appears, but shows total size 128GB when the drive is a Crucial 64gb SSD. Have tried: changing install usb port after closing intro then start the install but to no avail.I am not sure that I see the SSD listed in the BIOS. The drive is definitely seated (ACER ASPIRE ONE D260), but I don't know that it is in the lineup: USB CDROMIDE1:IDE0: YATAPDONOG BAREFOOT-ROMUSBFDD:Network Boot: Atheros Boot AgentUSB HDD: Generic USB SD Reader (the USB flash /SD drive that has W7 installation files) When I browse for a driver I find:ComputerRemovable Disk (C: )Boot (X: )

Tried formatting, deleting, and installing and I get error (0x80300024) "unable to install"...
I know its not the disc as i just used it successfully format a week or so ago.
I thought it may be the HD so I used a toolkit to manually format, no go.

I'm trying to install Windows 7 64 bit on one our computers that had XP 32 bit. I'm doing a clean install and have already formatted and partitioned the hard drive. The problem I'm having is that now it won't let me install windows 7. When you highlight the system partition it shows and error, which states, "Windows is unable to install to the selected location, Error: 0x80300001" I thought I might need a SATA driver for the hard drive but I haven't been able to locate the right one if thats the problem.

Loaded 7Ultimate and got to Install screen. Selected drive and made new partition. Clicked next. Received error: Quote: Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more info. I don't know how to get to the logs, but what does this message mean? I have tried almost 6 or 7 times and even once with my 7 Home edition disk. Ran the startup repair a couple times. Tried formatting the drive from my XP Pro sp3 disk.So now here's where the real problem comes in: ERROR LOADING OPERATING SYSTEM. Now I can't get back into XP! Tried booting from ERD Commander 05, but I get an error code 4096 with that, and "File SETUPREG.HIV could not be loaded".How can I get XP back to booting properly? Maybe it's a faulty hard drive and needs returning. But it is extremely important that I get this computer back up and running immediately.

For the past 2-3 months I've been receiving the same error in Windows Update every time I try and update: Error 80246008. I've tried the Microsoft Fix It application and the same problem occurs. I took a look into the services and when I try to start one service required by Windows Update it always fails because its core services are not launched, so I tried to launch those and those won't even launch.

I tried to dual boot Fedora 18 with my Windows 7. They are on two different hard drives. Fedora 18 worked but I was unable to boot up Windows 7. Frustrated, I decided to just delete everything from all the hard drives and try to do a clean install of Windows 7 using the USB-DVD Windows tool to make a USB Windows 7 installer. I then got the following error when trying to install Windows onto my hard drive:
"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information"
I tried unplugging the other hard drives and got the same error. I also went to the command prompt and used Diskpart and did clean all. Still the error shows up. Something that might be useful is that when I did disk list in the command prompt it showed my hard drive but with 0 free space. Not sure if this is useful but the drive I want Windows 7 on is a solid state drive but the one I had Fedora on is a normal hard drive and I had an extra harddrive that I used for storage that is a normal hard drive as well.

I'm having a major virus/malware issue as my McAfee firewall protection stopped working suddenly. Called McAfee to reinstall the virus software and they were unable to install it. They said that since my Windows Update feature is not working (there is a big red X and updates are not downloading and installing) the McAfee installation is failing. Asked me to fix this issue first and then try McAfee installation.

Originally got message - Disk read error occurred press ctl alt del to restart. Then tried plugging this drive using a USB connector into my desktop PC to see if I could run some chkdsk. Then my desktop PC displayed messages telling me my firewall and virus software had been turned off and the computer crashed. ROOTKIT? So I was left with 2 drives not working. I re installed windows on desktop but using ISO on flash drive BUT can't on the 500GB Hitachi HTS545050B9SA00 for some reason. Windows setup loaded and Deleted old partitions and formatted. When I tried to install, it froze. It now just boots up with a windows loading screen and I'm also unable to boot from flash drive as it freezes. This is on a Sony Vaio VPCEB4E4E.

I've been trying to get Windows 7 working for a couple days, without success. A friend of mine told me about this forum, so I figured I's try my luck and ask my fellow Windows users.
I have a valid, working copy of Windows 7 build 7000x32 on disk. The same disk has been used on other computers and works fine. However on my machine, it begins the installation just fine, until it reaches the blue Windows 7 background screen. Then it stops. No error, it just stops working.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? I find it extremely frustrating.

After an attempt to dual boot my system with 32 bit OS, I couldn't boot back into 64, it wasn't even an option. So, I figured I must have messed up the install and it was time for a clean one. Now I get an option to dual boot windows 7 or windows 7 (recovered).
Recovered is the one I want, but if I switch my boot HDD to the one that Windows 7 (recovered) is on, bootmgr is suddenly MIA.
I have not a clue how to restore it, and I even wiped the second HDD clean.

I am trying to install with the downloadable executable from the student discount program, the files are located on an external hard drive.
I downloaded Windows 7 last night and started the install, it got up to the point where it checked for Vista SP1 and stopped. I had reinstalled Vista recentely and forgotten to install it.
I quit the Windows 7 install and installed SP1 for Vista. Now every time I try to launch the Windows 7 install I get the following error:
"The unattend answer file contains an invalid product key. Either remove the invalid key or provide a valid product key in the unattend answer file to proceed with Windows installation."
I tried deleting the temp file that was in the same directory as the install files for Windows 7 as well as deleting the expanded set up directory and letting it re unpack the files.

I have purchased a brand new laptop with an OEM Windows 7 Home Premium. On the first boot it runs that wizard asking you to select locale etc. After doing some research I see that supposedly only Win7 Ultimate will allow multiple languages which is confusing since Home Premium is allowing me to select one. My questions are...
1) If I select a language on this first time boot wizard, once it configures/installs can I change it to another selection at a later? If the answer is "No" then...
2) If I re-install fresh from the accompanying rescue CD will I then be presented with the first time boot wizard again allowing to select the locale and thus changing it there?
I haven't decided if I want to run the box in English or Japanese yet but both options are available on the first time boot screen which I find very confusing since by all accounts Ultimate is the only version that should allow this.

I am having a problem with doing a fresh install of Windows 7. It is on a Dell Inspiron 1546 with a 150 GB hard drive. There was an original install but the computer was having issues as some files were corrupted. I used the Windows 7 disc to format the hard drive and booted from CD after restarting.
However when I try to install the new Windows 7 it sits at the part where it says: Expanding files. Then after a while an error pops up that says: Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information
