View 3 Replies View RelatedHow can i move files from my host computer to my guest computer?
In the VPC 2007 i could drag them from host to guest but that isn't working now, or i'm doing something wrong.
I recently did a clean install from Windows XP to Windows 7 64 bit on my computer. Setup works just fine and installs correctly. After setup is finished windows tries to startup but it hangs after the starting windows screen.
My specks are (custom computer I bought from friend)
Asus A8N SLI motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual 3800+
OCZ PC 3200 400 MHZ 1024 MB Dual channel (x2) memory
Zotac nvidia GeForce 210 graphics card
The "Starting Windows" freezes seem to me to be entirely arbitrary. Here's my installation notes to date. The line where it says "SYSTEM RESTORE" is the point at which I restored the computer to after installing some software and having the "Starting Windows" issue recur. I check the Event Viewer with every boot. The only Error and Critical events are (generally) Power events when I am forced to reboot manually due to a "Starting Windows" freeze.

I'm attempting to set up a Windows 7 touchscreen (dell Inspiron One All-in-one) but I want to set it up with access via the guest accountI want to remove access to the control panel, to the "RUN" command and the command prompt. Are these available via the local security policy? I've tried going through it but haven't found an easy way to do what i'm doing. I've tried looking at tools like Ultimate Windows Tweaker and Winbubbles but these programs affect changes across all accounts and not a specific account.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been working on the administrator account for more than 2 years, left it as it was yesterday. When I came back my account was assigned with guest authorization instead of administrator's. While I was working on my administrator account I disabled Super Administrator account and therefore now I am unable to log into it. My little brother account is just another guest account. So as far as I know there are two guests accounts somehow, 0 administrator accounts, and 1 super administrator account which is disabled. How can I restore my account to its previous settings? (If I try to do anything which requires administrator's level authorization it asks for password but it never works, which means that it has been changed or i do not know where can I type it in).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up a VPN on my Desktop computer (HOST) so that I can connect to it from my school with my laptop (CLIENT). At one point it was working, but now every time I try to connect I get "Error 720: A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection."I know the issue is NOT my laptop, because I can connect to another VPN that I currently have running in place of the one at home (One obvious reason I'd like the home VPN is that my current one is in Sweden...)I also have little reason to believe that my network settings are wrong, because I have the Host computer set as DMZ on my Linksys WRT160N Router and have forwarded the PPTP Port to it as well (Just in case.)I've gone as far as reformatting my Desktop computer and doing NOTHING but installing Network Adapter drivers and an antivirus, and then setting up the VPN and it STILL doesn't work...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 32 bit on my laptop and Windows 7 64 bit on the desktop, both Home Premium. Every time I go online with the desktop it starts a download according to NetLimiter. The download appears as Host process for Windows services and it expands to process 720 and then to 92.122.126.243:80. I use 3G mobile broadband for my net access and this download could use a considerable amount of my Gb allowance. Using NetLimiter I can kill the download but I would like to know what is happening and do I need the download? Some idea of the d/l size would be handy as well. None of this happens when I log on using the laptop.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs it possible with the non-Windows 7 machine's shares set to something besides "guest access allowed"? I've tried a few tweaks on my Windows 7 desktop and my Kubuntu 11.04 Linux-running laptop. Nothing has worked. Unless access to a shared directory is set to guest on the laptop, the Windows box keeps asking for a legitimate password, whenever I attempt to 'open' them.
Both machines have the same log-in strings for both basic log-on and Samba. Or do they? I'm presuming there's no separate logon/password required for Windows 7 Home Premium when it comes to file sharing, but as a late Windows XP Professional user (both SP2 and SP3), I'm not taking anything wholly for granted. Any Windows build since the dawn of XP that installs without gpedit.msc is bound to be lacking in other ways, imco.
Any way to add Remote Desktop (host) to Windows 7 home?I upgraded to home premium and now found that I can not remote desktop TO this pc Obviously I could upgrade from home to PRO but didn't know if I can just "add" RDP to this home PC at all I realize there are 3rd party software vendors I can use (think I saw VNC, mesh, go2mtg, etc)

To keep my computer running quick, I usually skim through my processes at boot up and see what can be trimmed off from the starting processes, or just from my computer. Host Process for Windows Services shows up twice on the list. Right now at 125,080k and 75,476k memory. I don't recognize these processes or why they are using so much processing. Any advice for tuning those down or speeding up my PC in general (it automatically runs defrag, disc cleanup, standard accessories, etc. once a week).
