Can't Delete File Because It's In Use By System?
Jan 28, 2010I'm trying to delete an ISO image which appears to be in use by System. When I boot into safe mode and try it, the error still comes up. I've also tried deleting it via the elevated command prompt. Changing the security permissions doesn't seem to do it

Feb 2, 2012All my browsers were freezing and crashing. I was getting the DNS 1012 error. I found out I was missing my host file. I added back the host file. Chrome and Internet explorer worked ok for a little while, then they started crashing again. I took off Chrome and replaced with Opera. Opera worked perfectly for a day and I thought my troubles were over. The next day, it started freezing and crashing and I am getting the DNS 1012 error again. If it's not recognizing the host file, why did Opera work so well for that one day. Also I noticed when I go to my embarqmail account, that's when the freezing really begins and then it affects other sites I go to after that.

I've tried installing the 64-bit driver on the 32-bit Vista machine. I've also tried installing the 32-bit driver on the Win7 laptop. In both cases, Windows and the HP website give me the runaround and insure me that all necessary drivers will auto-install via Plug-n-Pray. But this is not the case. Unable to find driver downloads easily.
Windows 7 Cannot Delete A File?
Oct 21, 2011I had some RAR files, which I extracted into a single 8GB 1080p movie file. Throughout the movie playback my PC lagged like it was 50 years old and the movie kept getting stuck at times. Now when I attempt to delete the movie file, it says recycling but it never goes any further on the green progress bar. I have gone into safe mode and tried deleting it, same issue, it gets stuck there. I have played other 1080p files bigger than 8GB and they have run with no issues at all, so this file is just weird and corrupted. And now it won't get deleted I tried using file shredder and THAT also got stuck and went nowhere. I tried cut/paste the file into another external HDD and that also got stuck. How the heck do I get rid of it? PC starts lagging a lot if I touch it. Will system restore remove it?I have: Windows 7 Ultimate Core2Duo 3.0ghz 4GB RAM Nvidia GTS 250

Jan 21, 2012I have recently updated my hdd with a clean windows 7 install, but had the old one on a secondary hard disk as a back up. I now need to delete these files to save space on my data drive, but am unable to delete the system and windows files as they are owned by TrustedInstaller.
I discovered how to take ownership of these directories, but now the UAC is telling me that I need permission from myself to delete the files which I own!
Is there anyway to get round this without shipping out my data and doing a format, which I don't want to do as I always seem to miss something important..
