I recently had to reinstall (format and clean install) on my home PC. The admin account could access the internet right after the install. Once I added standard user accounts for each of my kids, those accounts can access the internet, but the admin account cannot.

I have access to the Internet when I am on the admin account and I use to have access on the guest account as well. Today for some reason I start my computer up and the guest account no longer has Internet access. (using IE) Why could this be? Why would it happen out of no where? I use chrome on my admin account and it works fine.

Weeks later, he did it again. So I downloaded Norton's Safety Minder to prevent it. So this sneaky prick goes around and enables the guest account, and lo and behold, porn fest again.What can I do? I don't want to keep him off the admin account, because he plays games on here, but I don't want him watching porn on my laptop either. Is there a way to put parental settings on the guest account? I know you can disable it, tried that, he just re-enables it, then disables it before he gets off. I'm really frustrated about this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 laptops - both run Windows 7 x64. Different brands (Asus G73 and Alienware M11x) with different network cards. I have found that neither will access the guest accounts on 3 different routers, all different locations and different brands. Tried latest versions of both IE and Firefox... no go. The tab shows the page is starting to load, where you enter the guest passwords, but the page never loads. It just times out.
I can get into the main admin accounts just fine, but ever the gust accounts. I show a connection via the network icon in the taskbar....then the yellow exclamation shows up. I get the popup that states 'More information is needed to log on - click here to open your browser'. But when I click on that, the browser opens but the page never does. I've set the default browser to both IE and FF... tried opening them via the click and via start button... both 32 and 64 versions...
Is this a Windows 7 x64 thing, as that seems to be the only constant between the two machines...?
My account was changed from admin to non admin, and now can't access my account. Unable to install programs, tho I can save files, burn ISO images, etc. Need some help, or ideas to recovery, not remove the password.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not really sure when this problem started, but as the admin account and only real user (I set up another account to test my problems) on my HP Laptop, I cannot access the user accounts on my computer. I've tried to access them multiple ways, including through the control panel and directly through the start menu, but when I try to click on anything having to do with the user accounts on my pc, nothing happens. So I am unable to change my password, change my picture, or add or remove other accounts. It's almost like I'm not an administrator. However, according to multiple places on my computer, my account is still an administrator. Also, some programs do not launch unless I chose to launch them as an admin by right clicking, is that normal?
So to summarize my situation, I don't think my admin account is giving me proper access to my computer, limiting the things I can do.
In Windows 7, is it possible to create a guest account which has the permission to share internet connect like Ad-hoc?Basically I want to use the laptop (with wifi) as a hotspot sharing the ethernet cable internet connect using a guest account only.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have turned on the Guest account, and I need to set program and folder access permissions. I have google'ed the way to set file and folder permissions, but I am having some difficulty with some of the things that I need.
For instance I need to:
-deny access (just deny listing the directory structure; can read & write so apps can work) to C:* , Control Panel, and a few other locations
If I try to deny dir listing for Guest on root C: , it gives me a couple warnings and will not set permissions for "program files, program files x86, windows" folders even though I am the admin. After those initial issues, it continues to set the permissions for all the rest of the files. If I log into the guest now, goto Computer and double click on C: , it now says "access denied", which is good but if I type in the address bar up top "C:users", it will goto that location; not display the access denied message. I am using the Home Premium edition so I cannot use the Group Policy Editor..
I have Windows 7 Home x32 on a laptop and I want to make a admin account and hide it from the user screen, I not only want to hide it but I want to be able to "load it" from the log on screen if I want (no CMD commands on the user accounts to use it) is this possible with 7?
Before on XP I had a hidden admin account and all I had to do was CTRL+ALT+DELETE and it would bring up my account, with windows 7 it doesn't seem to work this way. Now to be 100% clear, I don't want the default admin account (for trouble shooting) all I want is a second admin account that if needed can access user accounts on my laptop from the log-on screen by hitting some combination of keys.
I've been having a lot of trouble with my computer and have only just sorted out a problem saying my copy of windows is not genuine (when it is) and I have been getting another problem with that. This concerns Windows 7 logging me into a temporary profile when trying to access my main admin account. It started off happening quite infrequently, and I was able to get onto my main account with a few system reboots. But now I can't get into my main profile at all.

Need assistance on how to Logon: Administrator user account & Password Denied..Problems on computer with Google Chrome Uninstalled everything Google using Revo. Then went to restart computer but could not Login as Administrator password denied.. but no recent change in password.Getting access to internet by logging on with another user but does not have administration privileges.Tried the following without success:
1. Safe Mode - error message, states do not have Admin privileges.

Sitting here in class and our professor was telling us admin it disabled by default in Vista/Windows 7 now for security reasons. I mentioned you can access it from a command prompt based program that comes in a bootable iso format you burn on disc.
I can not for the life of me remember what the name of that program was but a couple years ago I was working on a Win Vista system that got a virus that locked out the user by changing the user account passwords.
We Googled, found this program you burn on a CD and it brings up a menu that will allow you to reset the user account password, or log into the admin account.

Is there any foolproof way to do this? I changed my security network key. Somehow he figured it out. It is becoming a "You can't limit my access" power stuggle even though the stakes are high. The problem is that other computers on this network connected to the internet via my computer so my computer needs to have static IP address of 192.168.0.1 but when Guest account is logged in my system forgets the static IP address I have set in my other admin account. I am not even sure that LAN is connected when the Guest account logs in. My admin account is logged in and locked so I suppose all programs and settings there should still be working. How do I make sure that my ethernet settings are working the same way for guest account too. I am not worried about Guest account being able to access the local network.

I've been working on the administrator account for more than 2 years, left it as it was yesterday. When I came back my account was assigned with guest authorization instead of administrator's. While I was working on my administrator account I disabled Super Administrator account and therefore now I am unable to log into it. My little brother account is just another guest account. So as far as I know there are two guests accounts somehow, 0 administrator accounts, and 1 super administrator account which is disabled. How can I restore my account to its previous settings? (If I try to do anything which requires administrator's level authorization it asks for password but it never works, which means that it has been changed or i do not know where can I type it in).

When I go to change the permissions it states I need admin privileges. The only account I have on the box is the admin however I did change the name to something besides admin. The account is definitely an admin account.
