Windows 7 Crashes On Reboot During Custom Installation
Sep 24, 2010
I have just built a system with the following specs and Windows is crashing after rebooting during the install process, I've tried installing without the RAID card installed into the PCI-e slot. The video card cannot be removed with the Core i5 CPU, it must be in there for this CPU from what I understand.I have not installed any drivers (i.e. for the RAID card, video card, etc). I'm using a USB mouse and USB keyboard. I've tried running windows without any USB ports in use and I still get the same result.!
was wondering if the custom installation option would delete my files that are located on hard drive D, I know that it would totally wipe out C but does the same happen to the other hard drives ,cuz I really have a lot of files and their size is more than 100gb :/ how many usb's am I gonna need for this, it's impossible
I have recently built a new computer and everything runs fine except almost EVERY game I play always crash. It takes me back to the desktop and I get the program has stopped working message after about 10-20 minutes. It not only crashes on highend games but minecraft and other lowend games crashes with the same error. All my drivers are updated, I have .net framework installed, I updated the bios, I ran memtest and it came up with no errors, I tried changing the compatibility to windows xp, it isn't overclocked and I tried rebooting everything. I'm not sure if its a problem with windows or the computer.
I have a mysterious glitch of sorts where I am unable to add a custom toolbar in the taskbar because whenever I restart my computer the custom toolbar disappears. I want to add two: Quick Launch and Games toolbars in Windows 7.I am suspecting the fault is with this program I just got called Advanced System Optimizer 3.
So, I would like to make a custom windows 7 professional installation disc.I would like the installation of:Vlc playeruTorrent.Google chrome browser.Ccleaner.Defraggler.nd remove unnecessary programs / functions of the Windows installation disc.So, what I need to do to make these things succeed?
My wife's PC refused to reboot about a week ago and after many attempts we eventually gave up trying to recover it and reinstalled from scratch. The history of that is over here. WIN7 won't boot. What should I do before trying a clean install? The PC was rebuilt with Windows 7 64 OEM and because my system disk is only 80GB I followed the directions from this post to locate the user and user apps data folders on the other disk. User Profiles - Create and Move During Windows 7 Installation, Windows update has now installed over 150 updates including SP1 and rebooted successfully many times along the way. However this morning at powerup the PC crashed back to black and rebooted twice before successfully starting up. It has now run quite happily all day. What should I do to monitor what is happening and capture as much info as possible so that if this happens again I capture what is going wrong?
We have a new build for a friend's Media Center, and for the first time ever with Windows 7, I am having an issue with the installation that I can not isolate.
The System:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Gigabyte 8900GPA-UD3H 2 x Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (KHX1600C9D3B1K2/4GX) 4x Seagate 1.5GB SATAII ST31500341AS (in RAID 5) LITE-ON SATA CD/DVD Burner (iHAS124-04) Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 X64
We tried installing to multiple system drives, and they all end up completing the installation, rebooting, but reboot just as the flag starts to cycle in. no BSOD, no error messages, just reboots every time. Safe mode gets as far as achix64s.sys, (which leads us to think some kind of drive/er or controller issue) then reboots.
We have tried:
setting the BIOS to all available combinations of RAID, AHCI, and IDE modes
Updated drivers (even though Windows 7 has recognized all the drives right off)
isolated all the memory sticks 1 by 1
different cables, drives, and PSU
swapped the mouse pad, just in case...
We also each went over it separately to eliminate potential PEBKAC, but each got the same results.
Memory has been testing using program from [URL].I'm trying to install Windows 7 64-bit.I built another machine with the same motherboard, processor and RAM which works fine. The differences being between the two machines the Harddisks and Graphics card.On the machine Im having problems with I have two Seagate ST32000542AS 2TB setup as RAID harddisks and a Gigabyte graphics card.Windows 7 installs but after the first boot from the HDD it displays "Starting Windows" and then resets or displays the blue crash screen. I tried running in safe mode list drivers as it is booting. After disk.sys is loaded the computer freezes.Ive tried using the latest AMD RAID drivers from the gigabyte website for this motherboard during the installation, but now Im starting to think this maybe a graphics card driver problem are there any known issues with the Gigabyte graphics card Im using and Windows 7?Is there a way of loading the Graphics card driver automatically.
I installed windows 7 on a fresh, quick formatted Ocz Agility 3 hard drive. Everything worked fine until first reboot then during checking of register files it rebooted and got error bootmgr missing.What can be the cause of this?I tried repair with the install disk, and when the repair console searches for windows 7 versions it find two versions one with zero size and the other 110000 something bytes.I tried bootrec/ScanOs, no Os shows up maybe reflecting the zero size version. How can i resolve this issue?
When I remove the power cord of a cpu while working, it often makes windows 7 crashes hard. When that happens, Windows 7 by default makes a system restore. Since we don't want that, we removed this option. Since the system restore has been desactivated, Windows 7 reboot over and over again. I have to reinstall. Sometimes, even the safe mode is not working. This scenario does not happen every time because sometimes Windows 7 succeeds in "getting back" online.
I formated all my particions of hdd, now i cant install Windows 7 or xp (by booting cd/dvd), because when system reboots it starts all over again. What should i do?
I've bought a new PC without Windows 7 installed on it. I thought that installation of Windows 7 can't be really hard. Oh boy, I was wrong.So the problem is:I start up my PC with Windows 7 64 bit disc in it. PC is set to boot from CD/DVDEverything seems to go just fineI've got the message that "Windows is loading files". It takes a minute and it's done.Then I get the "Starting Windows" screen and the blueish background pops up. For a moment (it's not even half a second) some kind of dialog box pops up - I think that is the one with title "Install Windows". Then there's a large message saying: "Windows 7 is preparing to install" (or something like that, I'm not using English version so I'm trying to translate all these messages).This message disapears, for a second you can see this blueish background and then - it crashes. It starts up again and this process goes on and on[CODE]
Before I begin I would like to say that I'm not a native English speaker, so my English isn't perfect. Sorry for that. I've bought a new PC without Windows 7 installed on it. i have a MSI A6000 Laptop. Ive been trying to fix this problem for 2 day with 12 hours time and read countless forums but still haven't been able to solve it.
I recently encountered windows 7x64 installation error, where i could not select disk partition to install. ( i formatted and deleted all of the partitions for a clean install). But somehow after running the memory diagnosis i was able to go through the installation. But during the installation on the second time it restarts, my computer gets a black screen when starting.
i cannot access the post screen menu or the recovery option( it is however possible to access the same thing via booting through the USB and selecting the recovery option instead of installing). Also the memory diagnosis tool does not work any more giving an error. The bios options are as follows:
MAIN : Serial ATA [Hard Disk] Serial ATA [ATAPI CDROM] Advanced: PCI Latency timer [64] Legacy USB support [enabled] AHCI Mode [endabled]
This is the 3rd time that Windows 7 crashes in such a way that recovering/repairing is impossible. A fresh installation I put on a second partition finally seem to work smoothly and without errors when it crashes after a few days. The current installation is still working, but lags and gives errors (both came from the same source DVD) from the beginning. We're talking each time about the same machine, of course, a Acer Travelmate 5520 (dualCore 1,9 Turion with Radeon Xpress 1250). First I thought it was due to an incompatible update or some kind, but I have performed all upgrades on this copy of Windows and it is still running...
So, can I acces the log files from my other (newer) installation ?
I have problems entering windows after the first installation of Windows 7 64 bit built 7000.After seconds the welcome (splash) screen appears, the windows suddenly reboot automaticaly.After that, black screen appears with dashes blinking.(Actually, my current OS is Windows 7 32 bit built 7600, but I think it isn't cause of the problems. I have formatted the local drive, in which my current OS was installed, before I install Win 7 64 bit).
I've been trying to install Windows 7 on a brand new computer. It's running RAID 0, and I'm using the latest drivers from my motherboard manufacturer.
Starting up the installation seems to work fine. It goes through the first phase of installation where I choose which partition I want to use, and it starts to copy files from the dvd, yada yada yada. After the "installing updates" section, a window pops up with the following message:
"Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install Windows, restart the installation."
It then kicks me back to the start of installation. If I start the install again, it does the same thing. If I reboot and restart installation, also the same.
If I try a startup repair, I get a message saying that Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically.
I've tried this on two builds--7000 and 7077. Both have the same result.
I can't install my Windows Ultimate 64 bit edition on my RAID 0 Western Digital 500GB hdd's because on the boot screen my computer keeps telling me to "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device", I've done both those instructions, rebooted, reinserted, all of it, no solution. I made sure my boot priority is the drive first, and raid drives after. Still nothing. But this is the interesting part, last time I fixed this problem by using my previous computers dvd drive to install instead of the blu ray, it installed and everything was right with the world.
But I have since then thrown out the old DVD drive, and now have nothing to install with. So what I did in the past hour was used a freinds DVD drive to install and it did not work. When my System Config, is set to RAID, it calls both my blu ray and his dvd drive, ATAPI CD, when in IDE, it calls my blue ray a blue ray and his dvd drive a dvd drive. I simply want to do a clean(custom) install of my windows 64 bit on my two RAID 0 HDDs, I've checked the boot priority, I've put both hdds in RAID0 and I've also used someone elses dvd dive to try and install.
I have attempted to install Windows 7 a couple of times now (with different copies each time) and I keep getting the same problem:Everything goes very smoothly for the most part. It finishes the installation, and then goes to reboot. When it attempts to load up Windows 7 the first time, I get the black screen that asks what mode to start windows in (Safe Mode, Start Normally, etc) and I choose start normally. It then brings up the Win 7 startup screen, but pops up with an error that explains that the computer was rebooted unexpectedly and the install did not complete.From this point, all I can do is click the "ok" button (the only option given in the dialog box) which just restarts the computer. If I just let it go and don't touch anything, it brings me back to the exact same message. This happens infinitely. My only other option is to boot from CD again, which lets me start the install all over again. But this still just results in the same error. I ended up just re-installing XP so that I could try and find a fix for the issue.
I'm trying to install windows 7 on my laptop through a USB key, but so far I've been unsucessful. What's been happening is that everything goes fine until the installer needs to reboot itself, then the computer reboots, but installation process begins again from the beginning. No error messages or anything like that. I've begun the installation process 3 times now, each time the installer thinks it is installing a new copy.
For reference, I have an IBM Thinkpad T43, and I'm installing Windows 7 Professional.
This is a nightmare, after solving the first problem I had, where the installation gets stuck in 'Copying windows files' (I had to disable the floppy disk from the BIOS, even not having floppy disk physically).
Now all the files are copied and extended properly, but when showing the screen saying that the system is going to reboot, the installation freeze. It never reboot.
Then I do a hardware reboot, Windows 7 loads ok, but in the screen that reads "Completing installation..." the process never ends.
I've seen (through shift+F10) that the log file 'setupapi.dev.log' reads something like it is looking for a driver for a pci.. but don't know what it means.
I up graded my lifebook to Windows 7 and have been blown away, so much so that I decided I would kill two birds with one stone with my old Toshiba.
It is an M40 Satellite with a 56GB HD, 1,66mhz processor and 1GB Ram,
I managed to clear enough space to install windows 7 (I have been unable too as it was configure to run on a server I no longer have)
The installation went well, or at least it looked as though it did, since the install and the last reboot in the installation proccess it has been in a continuous boot cycle, it comes back with a 'windows error' recovery.
I have tried starting it in every mode available and I still have nothing. I have tried a reinstall with both XP and Windows 7 and setting the Bios to boot from the DVD Rom.
I have eve gone as far as to get DBAN Nukem to clear the HD and still it will not recognise anything from the DVD Rom.
Have anyaone had a similar experience and can anyone shed any light? I am getting close to tossing it in the trash!.
I am trying to install windows 7 on a Dell 3100 with 1.5gb ram 250 gb hd 2.20 ghz with an Nivdeo 8800 graphics card. I get pass the first installation but when i have to restart and it says"Updating Registry" And goes back to the Windows 7 installation screen the computer crashes and when it restarts and i try to get to boot up back windows 7 it reaches the screen that says"Starting Windows"Then restarts all over again,Any tips to fix this?P.S Safe mode don't works either and yes the Computer is windows 7 compatible.
i m on a amd dual core 5200, abit k9n with latest bios, ati 4830, 2gb ram 800mhz (2x1)
i have downloaded from my university Windows 7 x64 version (the free copy for students build 7600) but i have also tryed 2 other versions (rc i think, both 64 and 32) with no success.
first of all, the starting installation page is very slow, after 4-5 minuts on "setup is starting" (advance mode, not upgrade), and at the second step (expanding windows files 0%)
installation crashes with blue screen:
first time i get: bad pool header error
second time i m on another blue screen: "a device driver attemptingto corrupt the system has been caught. the faulty driver currently on the kernel stack must be replaced.."
now i will try the 3rd time to install in "safe mode" and i post new info here.
if u need something more to know for helping me ill provide them as fast as possible.
I'm trying to install Windows 7 Home Premium on an old underpowered Dell Dimension XPS T700r with a P3 chip running at 700 MHz, 768 Mb Ram, and an old ATI Rage Pro 128 display adapter. It runs XP Pro just fine.All seems to be going well as Setup copies and expands files until the first reboot, when I receive "Disk Read Error, press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart". This occurs using several different hard drives of sufficient capacity. It also occurs when I try the installation from a flash drive after mounting the Windows 7 ISO on Virtual Clone Drive from within XP. I've tried to install Windows 7 Starter but it, too, chokes at precisely the same point. I've tried all this on an similar machine with comparable but different components. Same result with all these attempts.I know I'm try to push the envelope in a downward direction here; Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor issues the standard warnings on processor speed, ram, and display adapter, advising that any installation will be sluggish and that the graphics adapter will not support Aero.
I would very much like to try out Windows 7, since all I read about it is very positive. I am trying to install the 64 bit version on my computer, but no matter what I do, it keeps freezing at "Completing installation" after the first reboot. For a minute or so the dots-animation is still working and I can move the mouse, but after that, it just completely freezes.
Some background information:
- I have a Asus P5K-E/WiFi mainboard with the latest BIOS installed (also tried an older BIOS);
- My processor (Intel Q6600) is overclocked to 3 GHz, but I have also tried the install at stock speed (2.4 GHz);
- The jMicron controller is disabled;
- SATA mode is AHCI. This is working fine with my Windows XP installation;
- My video card is a Radeon HD2600 card with 2 DVI outputs, both connected to a monitor. I also tried connecting just one monitor, without success;
- It doesn't matter whether I install from DVD or USB flash disk, the exact same thing happens;
- I have a USB soundcard (Digidesign MBox I), but disconnecting it during installation doesn't help;
- I use a Logitech USB mouse/keyboard set;
- I have two DSP cards installed in my PC, a UAD-2 and a SSL Duende, both working fine with XP.
My computer hard drive crashed a week ago and most of my back-ups went with the system. So, I got a new 500 GB drive and have been re-installing everything from scratch. I started with a clean install of Windows XP (service pack 2), which took forever to get all the up-dates done. Then I upgraded to Windows 7 and did the up-dates for that. I didn't make a recovery disk at this point because I wanted to get everything installed first.Unfortunately, the last time I went to reboot it failed. When I power-up the computer it stalls out on the Dell BIOS screen. I can't get into Safe Mode, Setup, or the Boot Menu because my keyboard and mouses are not working. They are both USB and none of my USB ports are working. (Also, I have not PS/2 ports on my machine.).
Resently I built a custom computer. I assembled it and it all looked good... but as it got to the startup of windows 7, just past the "starting windows" part, it reboots. Then I wanted to install windows 7 again to see if it would help. But when it gets to the "Starting windows" part, it stays there. I've tried countless things including: Testing the RAM, Changing the PSU, getting another windows 7 install disk, shifting the GPU. But none have worked the least.
ive searched a lot in google and had not found any answers..My problem is some Custom Sounds are not working..for example, ive customized Minimize event and change it to an existing Windows Default sound, i press PLAY and its working, hit APPLY then OK..but its not working..tried it on other events, and still does not work,the other thing i noticed isi cant UNCHECK the option "Play Windows Startup Sound" (its greyed out)I've modified imageres.dll (mainly because of my theme) had edited on my own and had not touch on the wav files.
I want to create a utility software where i can create my own custom commands like copy, rename, move, delete etc. But i don't have any idea how shouldWhich language i should use to create it?OS Platform : Windows 7
