Ok, I have run out of ideas on this..My setup is Windows 7 64, P35 chipset, 4g ddr2,Evga 8600GT dual dvi with dvi to vga converter s-video out, Q6600, 160g pata hdd and a Gateway EV700 (17").
I cannot get Windows 7 to show the desktop, or detect the monitor. I have an LCD TV hooked to the S-video connector and that is the only way I can see the desktop.
The main monitor will show everything up to the point of showing the desktop..that is where the mon goes blank and I have to look at the TV.
Someone suggested I try XP driver for the monitor, but it will not install and just gives a dialog saying that winxp and above already has the drivers nessesary.
I have tried the Windows 7 64 drivers from MS update, Nvidia, and EVGA (both Windows 7 and Vista 64 drivers).
I have tried both monitor outputs. nothing.
I have a KVM which was not an issue for XP, but I am not sure about Windows 7.
Taking out the KVM is my last resort, as I am running out of ideas.
I also tried using an old Diamond Stealth PCI card to no avail....It wouldn't even post with it.
If I had a VGA to S-video converter, I would try that, but for now, I am stuck trying to use Windows 7 on a tv screen that is only 12".
At 1024x768 it's not much fun trying to read anything on it.
I forgot to add that the Nvidia ctrl panel does not show multi display menu.
My new PC with windows 7 won't detect my old Acer v243w monitor. I was hoping to use dual monitors, with this monitor connected via vga into the motherboard and my other monitor connected by DVI into the graphics card. The graphics card I am using is a Radeon HD6870. It has DVI slots and an HDMI slot but no VGA slot.
Even when the Acer is plugged into the motherboard by itself using VGA it does not get detected then either.
Is it simply a case of getting a lead which will convert my VGA lead from the Acer monitor into a DVI output which I can then plug into the graphics card?
Or perhaps there is a way of enabling VGA support, maybe via the graphics card or something? It seems odd to have a VGA socket in the motherboard if it is not going to work.
I have a three monitor set up. Whenever I open up a browser, either internet explorer or google chrome on monitors 2 and 3, after a few seconds it automatically drags my browser into my main monitor(monitor 1, where my start button and status bar is located)
I have a setup with 6 monitors. Today my main monitor broke and I couldn't find a way to shut the PC down since I couldn't access the main desktop to get to the Start menu.Is there a way to change which monitor is the main monitor without having access to the current main monitor?
my operating system is windows7 and i have this sata hdd and it is not detected by the os well it used to work with the os earlier but it wasnt detected by the system recently. then i tried to reinstall the os after that it did but after a two or three reboots it went missing again... at the time it got detected the system was booting very slowly,.. My hdd is not detecting by os
I am running a dual monitor setup with my TV hooked up via HDMI to my laptop.
Everything was working fine before, I always had the laptop as my main display yet I could play a video or a game fullscreen on the TV.
Since a couple of days, as soon as I put something in fullscreen, it immediately goes on my laptop, regardless if it's open on my TV or my laptop. I don't remember changing/installing anything that could've changed that...
I checked a bit in the AMD vision software and the Windows control pannel but I can't seem to solve my problem without switching my TV as the main display. I also made a quick search on google as well as here but the problems were mainly with Flash, which isn't in cause here.
Here are my system specs:
Toshiba Satellite L75D Windows 7 home premium 64-bit AMD Radeon 6520G
I have just did a clean install of Windows 7 ultimate from XP and I am unable to get my dual monitors to work like they did in XP.
I have a DVI Radeon graphics card plugged into the agp slot, and a Nvidia geforce vga adapter plugged into a pci slot of my dell optiplex 755. When I am in the screen resolution settings the second monitor cannot be detected.
In bios I have 2 options under primary video adapter and they are auto, and onboard card. When set to auto the Nvidia card gets a signal but the Radeon does not. There are no conflicts in the device manager, and all of the drivers are up to date.
When I change the bios option to onboard card the Radeon adapter gets a signal but the other monitor cannot be detected and in device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark next to Standard VGA adapter and a code 10 error that states the device could not be started.
I have powered down, and unplugged every cable, I also tried to use the integrated VGA adapter to the Intel G31/G33/Q33/Q35 Graphics Controller but the computer will not even boot. I get
"System Halted
Attention Unsupported Video Configuration Detected"
I have two monitors, both work fine as standalone but Windows will not detect either as a secondary.
Please help me someone, I am so used to having my helpdesk email open in one monitor and all of my other work in the other monitor.
Recently i upgraded win XP to win 7 with a format and fresh install. Though after the install, Win 7 did not pick up my onboard sound card or my usb modem. I have the drivers for them but how can i install them if Win 7 wont pick them up? they dont appear in the device manager at all. Win XP had no problem at all with this. Is it possible that they hardware is to old to be recognised by windows 7? i dont have the XP software to switch back so hopefully ill be able to fix this with assistance.
My brother was trying to restore his friends laptop and during the process the power got disconnected and the C Drive got wiped--I believe. I decided to fix it I would do a fresh install of Windows 7.
Everything was going great and I got the recovery disk to install, but my problem was the Hard drive wasn't showing up as unallocated disk space. The drive did show up, but not as any free space. I tried to do some tutorials in diskpart to fix the drive, but to no avail.
Now, I can't even get windows, or BIOS to detect the drive. The last diskpart command I did was to reformat it. It wasn't the quick reformat, but the one that takes an extremely long time. That's when I noticed it wasn't detecting anymore.
Here's some pics of what I'm seeing:

I unstalled my AMD filter usb driver, rebooted and now none of my usb work..I can't log into the computer via usb reason being when i boot up to the login screen i can't type or use my mouse cause the driver for the usb' have been unstalled. i can use them in bios. When it boots to the login screen i can't use anything iv tried plugging in all of the usb's but it doesn't work.
I gave my pen drive to my friend she used it in internet cafe but it doesn't working from that day.it is not showing in my pc when i insert into my laptop
This computer is running an ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro. It does support dual monitors...(I've had dual monitors active on this card before, but never on Windows 7.) But since installing windows 7, I can't even get it to detect the second monitor. I want to run the setup with the CRT as the primary monitor and the HD as the secondary.
I recently had an older HP Pavilion Media Center m7760n Desktop PC rebuilt. The old power supply fried the motherboard so I need to get a new power supply and motherboard. Here are my current specs.
Mainboard : Asus P5QPL-VM EPU Chipset : Intel G41 Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 @ 2133 MHz Physical Memory : 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM ) Video Card : Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1) Hard Disk : WDC (1000 GB)

As you can see from above, the "video card" is actually integrated into the motherboard. The computer works perfectly except for one major problem. I have 2 monitors, one is 22" with 1680 x 1050 resolution and the other is a 15" monitor with 1024 x 768 resolution. At the back of my computer I have a VGA port and a DVI port. The 15" is connected to the VGA port and the 22" is connected to the DVI port. When first starting the computer, the 15" monitor was recognized as the primary monitor while the 22" was recognized as the secondary monitor. No problem. I simply went to the display settings and set the 22" to be the primary monitor and the 15" to be the secondary monitor. Unfortunately, this setting seems to reset as soon as I reboot the computer. The 15" is always set as the primary monitor on start up, forcing me to set the proper settings all over again. What's worse is that even after I have set the proper settings, they sometimes revert back when using Media Center or other programs. Worse yet, sometimes the monitors both go completely black ... as if the monitor settings were about to switch but got locked up some how.I'm assuming that perhaps the on board video has a primary port (VGA) and a secondary port (DVI) but even still, shouldn't Windows 7 be able to over-ride this and save these settings so that the monitor settings remain the same during startup and regular usage?
I've lost all my usb drivers and windows will not connect or recognize any usb device when I install it. Here's the message I get from device manager:Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39). I've tried everything possible to correct the situation even reloading the intel chipset from Asus web site. Windows no longer will detect a flash drive or external usb drive. I'm at the end of my rope and I don't envy the thoughts of a reinstall. Is there a way to reinstall the usb drivers?Any one can point me in a direction.
I have a Diamond ATI HD 5670 graphics card installed, and when ever I try to connect my Toshiba LCD HDTV 40E220U to the computer it comes back saying "No Video Signal", I tried what the manual said for the HDTV. But it still wont recognize my HDTV, what should I do?
I run a Nvidia GTX 275 Works flawlessly even if i use both ports on the back to use dual monitors.
If however i plug my Nvidia 8800GT in the second PCI-E x16 Slot the computer only recognizes the 8800GT which is in the second port and there is no GTX 275 showing in the Device Manager or Boot Menu.
So basically i plug in my second video card and my primary card just vanishes from the computer like its not even there.
Has anyone got an idea what could be the cause of this?
I have checked the drivers and its the same drivers at the moment for the 8800GT and the GTX 275.
I want to be able to run my 19" Widescreen Monitor on my GTX 275 and use my 8800GT Card for my tiny 15" Screen so i can play Games on my Primary card and be able to have Website open and viewable all the same.
(I'm not trying to run SLi as i know you need 2 of the same GPU and your motherboard needs to be able to support it, I don't like SLi so its all good so far.)
When I was running windows vista, I could display my laptop on my TV with no issues. After installing windows 7, the TV does not detect any input. I tried pressing Fn F8, and windows P and the laptop says its switching dispays but the TV does not react. I just updated my NVidia drivers. Any ideas?
I'm trying to plug a USB camera into the back of my computer, but the computer won't acknowledge that I plugged it in. I don't get an error message or anything, it simply doesn't seem to notice anything. (I've tried it with a flash drive, too—same deal.)
I'm not missing drivers for the device itself, as I've plugged them both into other ports and they work fine. It seems that the port itself is the problem. I just reinstalled Windows yesterday after getting infected with a System Fix virus, so that may have something to do with it.
EDIT: It may have something to do with my BIOS, as I changed my boot order for the reinstall. I'm not aware of anything else being changed, but it's possible.
I don't know what happen, but im having problems with my external hard drive. I have 3 partition in it, but only the first one is detecting, the other two doesn't appear at all then a sign pops up saying i have to format it, i hit cancel and all 3 drives disappear. seems like hard drive failure. I have a lot of important data on the other drives, is there any way to recover it myself? I really don't want to pay 500+ dollars to recover the data off the drive.
one day i was playing mafia ii and all of the sudden everything stops my desktop was empty error message everywhere my pc couldnt find my hard drive . i used sistem restore now every picture and all my music is gone
I no longer can stream media from my PC to my PS3. It used to work a couple of months ago and it still works with my dads computer. Both mine and my dads PC are windows 7. I've compared the settings between the two PC's and could see no difference. I've tried several different media server programs including vuze, ps3 media server and windows media player and none of them work.
I've made sure all the media streaming and advanced sharing settings are correct and the proper services are started and temporarily disabled windows firewall. As far as I can see its an underlining issue and not one on the surface.
I am using a Linksys WRT160nv2, I recently clean installed windows 7 on my Vista desktop. I thought it would be my NIC having problems so I installed a linksys WMP600N. It worked for a while until I updated everything and restarted now it won't work again.
I have Sound Plaster PCIe Xtreme Audio sound card integrated with MSI P6N Diamond motherboard and I installed all of its latest drivers but It seems I can't make Mic work, Windows 7 detects Speakers only which is working just fine but it doesn't detect my Mic, I also changed the FlexiJack Mode to Microphone but still my mic isn't working, I'm using Headphones (Gamecom Headphones which is working just fine without any problem) What should I do to make Mic works?
my zebronics 150 jp gamepad is not detecting on windows 7..Initially it used to work fine . Now I guess there is some virus problem . But I have scanned through anti virus but still unable to locate the problem
I recently built a computer on a Asrock P97 Pro3 and for some reason. I have tried re downloading the audio drivers from the site as well as the disc but nothing seems to change. Windows update has also finished all of its important updates as well. When I view my playback devices "digital display audio" shows up 6 times, and under each of them it says "AMD High Definition Audio Device Not plugged in"
