I had a problem with wireless connection, when I connect my notebook in my home through a wireless connection it works fine but when i connect to our school network and type the password given to me by the administrator it displaye passphrase incorrect.

I've got a Dell work laptop. It has McAfee Safeboot and other work related security things. I don't have many "privileges" on the machine. It connects to my work wifi network just fine (automatically) but I can't get it to connect to any wifi networks outside of work. If go to network settings and look at the wireless adapter and view available wifi networks, nothing comes up. It looks like the laptop has an alternative program that controls network adapter (Dell network adapter program) but it won't open when I double click it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter installing Windows7 Ultimate x64 on a EEE PC Asus 1215B Seashell serie, the button which toggle wifi did not work anymore, like any other keyboard function keys (less importante now). When I log on I receive a message in a popup windows which says: You must install ATK0100 driver! I had installed the P4GX before noticed the problem. I've tried to install the driver downloaded from asus support site but I receive an error message in a pop-up windows, without any clue about what the problem is. Nothing is registered in Device manager, nothing is found in Registry, no file related to atk* in system32driverstorefilerepository. It's not possible remove nor reinstall, cause nothing bad remains after my failed installations. I've tried many times, with Troubleshoot Compatibility and Run as administrator (my regular user is also an admin). After executing the driver app, one command prompt appears showing the log of the installation process, and all of sudden disappear. No control about it. It's only possible to read the upper case word FAILURE before the window close. No log is found. It works when I restore the machine to Windows 7 Starter that comes from factory. I dont know how to get the drivers inside the hidden partition.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy daughter bought a Compaq notebook at Christmas with Widows 7 already installed and everything worked fine. At the weekend she downloaded Service Pack 1 and Broadcom. Now she cannot access the internet via out TalkTalk Router (Thomson). If I do a system restore to prior to the download it works again until she powers off the notebook. On powering back on she cannot get back onto the internet. My PC is connecting fine to the router, as is her old laptop. Obviously we cannot continue doing system restores everytime she wants to access the internet, and I cannot understand how the problem keeps manifesting itself after everytime she boots up the notebook.

I have two operating systems installed on my Sony Vaio VPCF115FG, Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
Wi-Fi is working fine on both, however, LAN connections are only working on Windows 8 but not Windows 7. It reads the LAN connection in Windows 7 but it does not actually connect to the internet. I honestly tried everything, including uninstalling the LAN driver and reinstalling it, no use.

I decided to take a break and pour myself some coffee and give a package to the postman. Gone for maybe 10 minutes at the most.When I came back, the LAN and WiFi mysteriously had stopped functioning. I know nobody touched anything because I am the only one who uses this computer. I tried disabling and re-enabling, as well as re-installing the drivers. This is a work network, and everyone else's connection seems fine, and I can't seem to figure out what's wrong. Keep in mind I can't just re-set the router because this is not a home network.

This includes buying two new wireless adapters (which totals the amount to 3) and a week ago, a new motherboard to see if that could sort the problem out.
None of the 3 adapters have been working properly at any point before buying the new motherboard. After that, I actually got the latest addition to function for a couple of days now - that is until I updated to Service Pack 1.nothing works.I tried uninstalling the service pack again... which did the trick.So I can't update my windows if I want a functional computer.Ive found numerous people (around these boards as well) having problems with x64 and wifi but no solutions...

(before that I bought the Linksys Wmp600n adapter which I couldn't get working as well)
Ive tried all latest drivers from manufacturer, even tried latest drivers from chipset manufacturers.
my wireless was connected to my laptop and was working fine untill the other day the wifi and the wps light went off i have try'd pushing the buttons to turn it back on again but it did not come on and it is still not working. The power/test light is blinking green and the internet light is on at green but not blinking I have disabled and then enabled my wirless router and still no wifi

View 1 Replies View RelatedI seem to have a problem with my WiFi. Left-clicking the wireless icon in system tray doesn't work as in literally nothing happens. When I open the network and sharing center and click on "connect to a network" then also nothing happens. Right now it's only a minor problem, because my laptop auto-connects to networks it already knows but when I want to connect to a public WiFi in a cafe for example I can't look up any networks.Also I'd like to point out that setting up a new connection to connect to a WiFi works but for that I need to already know the network name and security type. Windows can't find any problems either and I've reinstalled all network adapter drivers.

I did not backup my registry and I have no system restores to return to because I disabled that service.I can connect to a router on windows 7 wifi in that the router will detect an incorrect network password, but it always says limited access under the wifi icon. I cannot log in to the router to change the router's settings when i put 192.168.1.1 in a web browser. Otherwise there is no wifi functionality.I know this problem is isolated to my windows os because when i boot on ubuntu (which I am on now) I can get wifi.I tried reinstalling the wifi card but that did not work.I still have my windows 7 disc but my disc drive broke like 8 months ago... I'm probably going to have to end up buying another one
If I system repair from the windows disc, will it still preserve my files and installations?Is there some easier way to fix this, like is there a default registry file out there that I can just download and run in windows 7 to restore my registry to defaults?Oh and I was also deleting a bunch of tasks off the windows task scheduler as well. I don't think deleting a task would disable the wifi but I don't know.
So I have wireless internet in my house through an xfinity cable/internet modem. While I was trying to set up my new printer on the wireless network, my wireless stopped working. My computer is showing it has a full signal from my wireless network, however it unable to connect. Also, if I connect my computer via ethernet cable the internet works without a problem. Also, my 3 other roommates can no longer connect to the wireless and nothing was done with their computers. I've tried unplugging the modem and plugging it back in after 30 seconds as recommended, but nothing changed.

When I first started to hook up wifi I was given options such as who did I want to connect to etc. I think I need to reset the Home group/public places fields and try it again from the start. I'm not looking to use wireless for home at this time. I need to set this up for Public Places connection and tight security for my wife so that she can use this pc while she waits for her clients in court or doctors offices. I have never worked with wireless before and am really lost. I have an Atheros AR9825 adapter with updated software and drivers and an Asus USB N10 wifi antenna with current drivers in place.

I can see other networks, just not mine. They all worked perfectly fine before, and out of nowhere they stopped working. Other devices that were not in my room at the time of this 'wifi surge' still have a connection to the router.The wired connection works and that's how I'm typing this right now.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed Build 7057, and my Dynex Enhanced Wireless-G USB Adapter (DX-EBUSB) won't work. The problem started with the device just ceasing to work after 5-10 minutes of use. I uninstalled and "reinstalled" the drivers, and there's still no luck.
The device can detect my Router, but it won't connect to it. I get the "limited access" popup. Something else to note is that during the driver installation, it gives a "Please plug in the device to a USB port" message, although it won't recognize the plugged-in device. Weird, eh?
This is weird, since I was able to DL the 64-bit driver for Vista/Windows 7 Build 7000, and it would work.

I recently did something stupid and ended up having to completely re-install windows.The Wireless works sometimes but it usually is not working. It basically seems like it is turned off, it shows that there are no networks available even though there are. I have used Device Manager to update the drivers a few times. I also deleted the drivers and let them re-install like that. It is an Atheros AR5B93.The internal SD card doesn't work at all. When i put a card in nothing happens and it doesn't show up in "Computer". But When i have a card in it and go to device manager it shows up under "Other Device" (something like that) and the number UB6250. I've tried updating the drivers for every USB Device that shows up in device manager.Everything works ok except the wireless and the internal SD reader. I had no problems with them before the reinstall of windows. The normal USB ports work fine. Windows is at SP1.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HP pavillion desktop (s5360f) with Atheros 802.11 a/b/g/n Dualband Wireless Module and D-Link router DIR-615. My numerous Laptops and iPhons / iPads work fine, but this desktop which is further away from the router (in another room, about 20 meters) only shows 1-2 bars of wifi. First I bought a big additional D-Link antenna (7Ghz) but it didn't really help - sometimes connction shows 3 bars. I was told this antenna should help a lot. Then I checked with my router settings and saw that the HP uses "g" connection when everything else uses "n". I even set it to only use "n" but still it shows the HP using "g". I updated the driver (Atheros 9.2.0.113 for AR5B91), but it didn't help. I have "n" enabled in Atheros in Device manager. Now I'm lost and can't think of anything else that can be a problem and / or how to fix it... I don't have any thick walls between the router and the HP, my iPhone seems to work in this room just fine...
