View 1 Replies View RelatedMy daughter bought a Compaq notebook at Christmas with Widows 7 already installed and everything worked fine. At the weekend she downloaded Service Pack 1 and Broadcom. Now she cannot access the internet via out TalkTalk Router (Thomson). If I do a system restore to prior to the download it works again until she powers off the notebook. On powering back on she cannot get back onto the internet. My PC is connecting fine to the router, as is her old laptop. Obviously we cannot continue doing system restores everytime she wants to access the internet, and I cannot understand how the problem keeps manifesting itself after everytime she boots up the notebook.

This includes buying two new wireless adapters (which totals the amount to 3) and a week ago, a new motherboard to see if that could sort the problem out.
None of the 3 adapters have been working properly at any point before buying the new motherboard. After that, I actually got the latest addition to function for a couple of days now - that is until I updated to Service Pack 1.nothing works.I tried uninstalling the service pack again... which did the trick.So I can't update my windows if I want a functional computer.Ive found numerous people (around these boards as well) having problems with x64 and wifi but no solutions...
My system:
AsRock Z68 Pro3 with an i5 2500k 3.3 Ghtz processor
8 gb of ram
Asus Pce-n10 wireless adapter
(before that I bought the Linksys Wmp600n adapter which I couldn't get working as well)
Ive tried all latest drivers from manufacturer, even tried latest drivers from chipset manufacturers.
I just upgraded my Windows XP Toshiba Satellite laptop to Windows 7 and now the sound card, and the wifi feature (where it looks for signals) does not work! Is there a way to fix this, or maybe even revert back to XP. I didn't make a back-up disc.. but if there is a way to do so, I'd like to.

I recently did something stupid and ended up having to completely re-install windows.The Wireless works sometimes but it usually is not working. It basically seems like it is turned off, it shows that there are no networks available even though there are. I have used Device Manager to update the drivers a few times. I also deleted the drivers and let them re-install like that. It is an Atheros AR5B93.The internal SD card doesn't work at all. When i put a card in nothing happens and it doesn't show up in "Computer". But When i have a card in it and go to device manager it shows up under "Other Device" (something like that) and the number UB6250. I've tried updating the drivers for every USB Device that shows up in device manager.Everything works ok except the wireless and the internal SD reader. I had no problems with them before the reinstall of windows. The normal USB ports work fine. Windows is at SP1.

The rest of the toys in the house still connect through the router but the laptop does not. If the lan cable is plugged in the internet works. I used this to find the latest drivers for my laptops wifi card. Through the wifi I can enter the router settings but not externally to the internet.

The laptop does not find it when scanning to look for it during the setup phase. I uninstalled it and run setup again but only tried to do the wireless part and still no joy. The Epson site is no good and does n The WiFi on the computer and printer is switched on and I had the printer on the table beside the laptop so distance apart was not an issue. I have read that I need to go to register the mac address with the computer but dont know how to do this or even find the mac address for the printer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba satellite laptop running Windows 7 64bit and recently it crashed. I fixed it and everything worked fine, except for the Toshiba utility at the top of the screen that allows for shortcut keys such as changing the brightness, switching wifi, etc., by pressing the fn key and a F key. The utility shows up, runs, and works fine, except the wifi option is gone. I tried using fn+F8 (the keyboard shortcut for wifi) and it didn't work.
I uninstalled the utility completely, went to Toshiba's website, entered in my computer's model and re-downloaded it. It works fine again, but still no wifi option. In my status bar, my wifi says it is off and if I go into control panel I can disable/re-enable it but it still won't work. I re-downloaded the drivers for my network card, and have tried literally everything. My laptop does not have a physical switch either, other than the keyboard shortcut that no longer works.
I contacted Toshiba and they directed me again to the same utility which they said has the wifi option, followed the steps through the phone, but the option was still not there. How to bypass this? It seems my network card was switched off and cannot be switched back on no matter what since every way of doing so is gone. Is there any application to bypass it or a wireless radio application to force the radio on?

In device manager the driver is ok no exclamation marks anywhere When i try and connect with the ethernet i get identifying no network access, then it says currently connected to unidentified network, no network access! You cannot browse.So that being said it must be in the setting with windows 7.I uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi driver it did not make any difference.I also tried using a ethernet connection and it would not connect either.When i use the win 7 trubleshooter it states a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.Remeber this laptop functions fine with my hard drive in it with windows xp.

Wi-Fi is working fine on both, however, LAN connections are only working on Windows 8 but not Windows 7. It reads the LAN connection in Windows 7 but it does not actually connect to the internet. I honestly tried everything, including uninstalling the LAN driver and reinstalling it, no use.

My LAN and WiFi suddenly stopped working. It was working fine for several hours before now. I decided to take a break and pour myself some coffee and give a package to the postman. Gone for maybe 10 minutes at the most.When I came back, the LAN and WiFi mysteriously had stopped functioning. I know nobody touched anything because I am the only one who uses this computer. I tried disabling and re-enabling, as well as re-installing the drivers. This is a work network, and everyone else's connection seems fine, and I can't seem to figure out what's wrong. When I open the network and sharing center and click on "connect to a network" then also nothing happens. Right now it's only a minor problem, because my laptop auto-connects to networks it already knows but when I want to connect to a public WiFi in a cafe for example I can't look up any networks.Also I'd like to point out that setting up a new connection to connect to a WiFi works but for that I need to already know the network name and security type. Windows can't find any problems either and I've reinstalled all network adapter drivers.

I did not backup my registry and I have no system restores to return to because I disabled that service.I can connect to a router on windows 7 wifi in that the router will detect an incorrect network password, but it always says limited access under the wifi icon. I cannot log in to the router to change the router's settings when i put 192.168.1.1 in a web browser. Otherwise there is no wifi functionality.I know this problem is isolated to my windows os because when i boot on ubuntu (which I am on now) I can get wifi.I tried reinstalling the wifi card but that did not work.I still have my windows 7 disc but my disc drive broke like 8 months ago... I'm probably going to have to end up buying another one
If I system repair from the windows disc, will it still preserve my files and installations?Is there some easier way to fix this, like is there a default registry file out there that I can just download and run in windows 7 to restore my registry to defaults?Oh and I was also deleting a bunch of tasks off the windows task scheduler as well. I don't think deleting a task would disable the wifi but I don't know.
So I have wireless internet in my house through an xfinity cable/internet modem. While I was trying to set up my new printer on the wireless network, my wireless stopped working. My computer is showing it has a full signal from my wireless network, however it unable to connect. Also, if I connect my computer via ethernet cable the internet works without a problem. Also, my 3 other roommates can no longer connect to the wireless and nothing was done with their computers. I've tried unplugging the modem and plugging it back in after 30 seconds as recommended, but nothing changed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am sure that I somehow messed this up big time. The Samsung Netbook is an N145 Plus. It works fine when hooked to the internet via cable. When I first started to hook up wifi I was given options such as who did I want to connect to etc. I think I need to reset the Home group/public places fields and try it again from the start. I'm not looking to use wireless for home at this time. I need to set this up for Public Places connection and tight security for my wife so that she can use this pc while she waits for her clients in court or doctors offices. I have never worked with wireless before and am really lost. I have an Atheros AR9825 adapter with updated software and drivers and an Asus USB N10 wifi antenna with current drivers in place.
