Now I had a problem with my OS and used my �Product recovery� software from Toshiba that has Windows 7 Home premium 32bit. But I found the RAM reduced to 2.84.

anyways, my main drive is a RAID 0 with Vista x64, but I have a second HD that is a SATA 250GB, which I installed Windows 7 on. The only way I could get install to work was to switch my BIOS to IDE mode rather than RAID. I would of course though, like to be able to access my Vista drive from Windows 7 (and more importantly, not have to switch between IDE/RAID mode at all in the BIOS, it's a pain).
Now, the one odd this about this all is that the drivers I have for Vista (x86/x64 drivers) for this mobo's RAID controller WORK when loaded on installation to identify and install to the drive, but seem to not load or not work in any way once the first reboot on install occurs. Maybe this is because I installed from within Vista x64, though.
(Incedentally, my motherboard is an M3A Asus, using ATI's SB600 for a RAID controller)
I've tried loading the drivers from within Windows 7 while in IDE mode, but the install program won't let me. At first it didn't allow because of version restrictions, but then I altered the ini file to get around that, but it encounters some sort of error when installing and quits.
Any help that can be offered, would be grateful. I realise it's a beta and not a real release, so I can get past the BSOD from my odd setup, and I really am enjoying playing around with it so far. Very very impressed.
Edit: Just in case anyone thinks of suggesting me to right-click the inf file and install that way, already tried, won't allow for it.
My PC is setup with two hard drives as RAID-0 (1 partition) and it has refused to boot Windows 7 for the past few days. The computer simply shows a black screen after it goes through the BIOS screens. Pressing F8 to enter Safe Mode does not work at all.This issue has arisen after I tried installing a video card (XFX Geforce 8800 GTX) without uninstalling my old video drivers. It's still a mystery to me how installing the card would cause problems with Windows or my hard drivesHere's what I've done so far to troubleshoot:I created a System Recovery boot disk because I lack the original Windows 7 installation cd. System Restore does not work, nor does the Image function. System Repair simply hangs for an unbelievable amount of time.
After scanning my hard drives for various info, I found out that my first hdd is listed as NTFS, yet my second one is RAW. Subsequently, the C: drive is also listed as RAW, and I cannot use Chkdsk.exe on it. Through a cmd prompt, I used Bootrec.exe /FixMbr and /FixBoot, but it did not seem to fix the issue. I also used Bootrec.exe /ScanOs to see if the Windows 7 installation still existed, yet it came up with nothing.I've managed to use a program called RAID Reconstructor, via a PE Builder boot disk, in order to copy all my hard drives' sectors over to my external hard drive. The external is now hooked up to a second PC that I'm using to troubleshootIt seems that all of my personal files are intact and working perfectly fine, and the file names are also correct. I don't really know how to check my Windows/System32 files for corruption.I'd like to fix Windows 7 without having to format the hard drives. Since I lack the Windows 7 installation cd, I can only install Windows XP while lacking 64-bit support. Since I'd like to avoid this, I was wondering if there was a way to get Windows 7 back up and running. But I suppose this isn't possible without getting my second hdd back to NTFS format.
my goal is to boot windows 7 x64 with raid-1. My boot drive is a SSD, which is not part of the raid array. I have 3 seagate ST2000DM001 that I want in raid-1. I have tried installing windows 7 with ahci in bios first but no luck. I was able to boot from raid1 when I started bios out in raid but my ssd drives read/write speeds significantly decreases.

I have an m5a99x evo motherboard by asus. My problem is that whenever i turn on the raid in bios, press control+f, and set the 2 drives in raid 1, windows 7 cannot boot. If i select the restore, i cannot access my system image from my external hard drive and it cannot solve the problem on its own.
in my PC there are some drives with RAID0 arrays and from little time I have bought a SSD for Operative System (Windows 7).in your opinion (on the BIOS) is it better making the Boot with SSD or with another drive with RAID0?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a 6TB raid array consisting of 2 3TB drives. I have the latest Motherboard with EFI bios. The Intel RST utility allowed me to set up this array, and it says it is bootable. I would like this to be my C: drive.
How can I get Windows 7 to install and boot from this array.
I just recently purchased a SSD (OCZ Vertex 3 60GB). I wanted to use it for Intel RST with my 500GB HDD. I went into BIOS and changed to RAID and i installed my OS. Everything was fine so I installed all the important drivers and reset. When it booted up again the RST sign came up and i accelerated my drive. Then when i reset my system it says "BOOTMGR is missing". So i poped in my windows recovery disk to try and fix it but the windows doesnt detect my drives.

all the drives are functioning, intel software isnt reporting any drive issues, basic drivers are up to date.
I installed a Rosewell RC-217 Raid card (Silicon Image Sil 3124 SoftRaid 5 Controller-- in Device Manager). The card installed well in Windows 7 64 bit. No problems in device manager.The problem starts when i plug the drive in then rebooted. The boot stops at the 'Starting Window' and hangs. If i boot into windows then plug the drive in all work well. Windows sees the drive and i gave it a drive letter. works great.Problem is i can't boot my system without un-pluging the drive.

I have setup a partition which I transfered from on drive to another and now my boot partition is on an SSD Raid array connected to an LSI 9260 controller. If I boot the computer with the RAID Array first, the computer will just hang there. No message no nothing after the Verify DMI success message. If I setup my computer to boot from CD first and the the RAID Array second and with a bootable CD in the drive, the BIOS will display the "Press any key to boot from CD" If I don't touch anything, then windows will load just fine when the boot sequence switches to the RAID Array.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a refurb Dell XPS 420 w/ Q9300, running Vista Home Premium x64 and downloaded/installed an activated version of Win 7 Ult x64 on an 80GB SSD [Sata1] I bought for it; dual booted w/ Vista x64 on old hard drive [Sata0].
Windows 7 x64 was running stable and instantly fast, I wanted to enable RAID0 on the old hard drive [Sata0] and another new hard drive [Sata2]
I entered Intel Maxtrix Storage Manager (Ctrl-I), creating a RAID0 volume on [Sata0] and [Sata2].
After reboot, it says "No boot device available" after BOIS screen.
My subsequent boot attempts include (roughly in order):
1. disable RAID0 volume, boot to [Sata1]
2. disable [Sata0] and [Sata2], boot to [Sata1]
3. disable [Sata1], boot to CD/DVD-drive (Windows 7 install/boot)
4. disable CD/DVD-drive, boot to USB flash (Windows 7 install/boot)
I have done some digging around and cannot seem to find a solution. I have the use of my notebook (w/ broken DVD burner, still reads) running Windows 7 Ult x86 so apparently I cannot make my USB flash drive x64 bootable from what I've read. I also have 2-USB hard drives (80/250GB) and an eSata 2x docking station available, but no eSata on notebook.
Hope I gave enough info for someone to come up with an easy fix. If I could boot to the Windows 7 x64 install DVD that I made with the non-booting PC, I would have just done a clean install by now, but it refuses to boot to the CD/DVD drive. It actually wouldn't even boot to DVD to install Windows 7 x64 in the first place, I had to install from Vista. Also I do not have a Vista x64 install disk either.
After flashing the bios, my computer could not find the OS. The options displayed recommended that I try to repair the OS, so I made that selection with no joy. I went into the bios setup and found that it was no longer setup for my raid 1 drives, so reconfigured. When I did this, I missed setting the SATA 4/5 to IDE and went through the process again of trying to repair the OS. Once again, that did not work.
I went back into the bios and discovered my oversight, fixed it, but the computer still does not recognize my raid drives. The raid bios setup utility still shows a valid array. At this point, my assumption is that it doesn't recognize the array drive because the driver isn't loading, so I've tried to reload the drivers. The motherboard manual only describes how to do this when installing a new operating system and I do not want to lose my programs. Do you have any suggestions?
I have set up a dual boot- Windows 7 pro & XP ultimate, both on separate SSD's, all OK. I also have two 3TB HDD's set up under windows 7 RAID, all OK. In XP under drive management the RAID drives show up twice, once as 775GB unused drives with no drive letter allocated and also as 2.7GB RAID drives with status 'failed', drives marked as 'missing'. Is there a way I can get the RAID drive accessible under XP?

-Drive2-80GB and Drive2-40GB
Drive1-80GB is already the Windows 7-64 boot partition for the system. Can I configure a software RAID-0 with Drive1-40GB and Drive2-40GB? I know this is unorthodox but I wanted to try this for a few reasons.
My win 7 machine boots perfectly with two SATA mirrored drives and a Promise Ultra 133 TX2 IDE controller card with no drives attached. But when I connect drives to either IDE1 or IDE2, the machine will not even get to win start up.

I re raided the 2 raptors and connected them to the jmicron ports and set them up for raid in bios, then created the raid 0 array no prob. Windows doesnt see the array when loaded up and i have the latest rst drivers installed..did this prior to the os install on the ssd. using the x58 e760a1 mobo. under device manager, the raid controller has an exclamation mark and no driver installed yet i have the latest rst 10.8.0.1003 installed..

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn setting up my wife's computer, I allocated 30 gigs to the C: partition...probably a big mistake. I'd like to increase its size by about 100G, and I have shrunk the D: and E: partitions accordingly, using the Disk Management tool.
Now however I am stuck with two separate blocks of unallocated space, and apparently no way to expand the C: partition into that extra space. Is there any way this can be done within Windows 7 or do I have to seek out some additional software?
I had one hard drive failed(640gb). I bought replacement and tried to restore image but it failed. Then I wanted to convert to non raid system. I changed both drives(640gb) to non raid and bios change in advance setup. I am getting error when I try to reinstall win 7, "setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information". I have deleted old partition many times but win 7 setup on this dell xps435 desktop won't install windows.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't install my Windows Ultimate 64 bit edition on my RAID 0 Western Digital 500GB hdd's because on the boot screen my computer keeps telling me to "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device", I've done both those instructions, rebooted, reinserted, all of it, no solution. I made sure my boot priority is the drive first, and raid drives after. Still nothing. But this is the interesting part, last time I fixed this problem by using my previous computers dvd drive to install instead of the blu ray, it installed and everything was right with the world.
But I have since then thrown out the old DVD drive, and now have nothing to install with. So what I did in the past hour was used a freinds DVD drive to install and it did not work. When my System Config, is set to RAID, it calls both my blu ray and his dvd drive, ATAPI CD, when in IDE, it calls my blue ray a blue ray and his dvd drive a dvd drive. I simply want to do a clean(custom) install of my windows 64 bit on my two RAID 0 HDDs, I've checked the boot priority, I've put both hdds in RAID0 and I've also used someone elses dvd dive to try and install.
Using Windows 7, every time I boot up the icon size and font is different size either , large or small. I want large, but how do I change to lar.ge and keep it that way (make it default). Windows 7 now gives me what It wants. No pattern

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Win 7 Pro 64 bit installed on an ASUS P7P55D LE motherboard which supports RAID 0,1,5 and 10 using Intel Matrix Storage Technology through an on board Intel P55 chip set. The system was assembled in Nov 2009 using two Western Digital Caviar Black 750Gb drives in RAID 1 as Drive C:. (I now know from Western Digital Customer Service that I shouldnt have done that, but lets move on from there). Last December, an error message informed me the RAID array was broken and identified one of the 750 Mb drives as needing replacement. I happened to have a spare 1.5Tb WD Caviar Black at the time, so I pulled the 750Mb drive and replaced it with the 1.5Tb drive. Life was once again good. Then on July 4th (wouldnt you know) there was a repeat of the December 2011 error message telling me to replace the other original 750Gb drive. Okay so I had another 1.5Tb WD Caviar Black laying around (dont ask) and did a similar swap out. Thats when I emailed WD Customer Support asking about the 750 since their diagnostic software said the drives were fine. Thats when I learned that I should be paying lots more for enterprise quality drives if I want/need RAID. Well thats not what ASUS says in their advertising, but live and learn. All thats prologue, because my real question is whether its possible to break the hardware-based RAID 1 array and set up a Windows 7-based RAID 1 with the two 1.5Tb WD Caviar Black drives without having to reinstall Windows 7.

So I'm looking for a way to rank files by size regardless of their folder location, largest-to-smallest, ideally without a full scan of the disk if there are internal indexes that have this info.

Now I have a fresh install and i need to reinstall everything, but the problem isn't fixed.
