Jul 25, 2012I upgraded to windows 7 a while back and I recently discovered that I can no longer access my webcam (built-in) anymore. I have a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC. I have tried searching for it in all my files and I've chhecked 'Devices and printers but have had no luck. Although my webcam still works for skype and I've have looked for it's files whilst it has been on but I can't find anything

Oct 7, 2011So I bought the windows upgrade CDs to upgrade my vista PC's to 7. (Big mistake) Wiped out the HD and did the entire install. But every time I open up a video on my WMP it starts to play then stops. The PC then opens up a SV Host program that uses up 80% of the processor. So I have no video playing and my PC won't hardly work at all till I cntrl alt del and close the SV host.
What can I do to make this OS work correctly? The PC is an HP m9500z.

May 18, 2012I just updated to a z77 i5 3.4 and everything has installed fine except for my creative arena headset usb. It was working just fine on my other machine earlier today but now that I have a new mobo and cpu it will not install the drivers. My SSD and HDD were not reformated and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers a few times with no change. I just get 3 rapid beeps when I plug the USB in.

Jul 23, 2012I am on a windows 7 home premium, 64 bit Asus a53u. This is a friends computer. His USB, SD card, and webcam quit working 2 weeks ago and he came to me to fix it. He had a root kit in his registry, and a bunch of trojans.happili and generic trojans and another root kit. I can not get one of the viruses to uninstall (don't have sufficient permissions to get rid of it. Hiding in the ask toolbar updater) but it shouldn't be a problem because its been quarentined and is no longer running (sob was using 100% of the CPU). So I the drivers will not install. Period. I can download and install the realteak 2.0 but the drivers in the device manager will not install. I believe I got an error 0000027 (can't figure out where I got that from) Also I am not willing to spend any money on software. Hes not paying me and is not willing to reimburse either.

Jun 21, 2012I have a 1yr old Asus g74sx laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. The other day with no warning the ntfs chkdsk appeared on startup and I did not cancel it... BIG mistake. I saw it deleting several files and once my laptop started up my built in web cam is no longer working, nor is the power option(battery icon) or wireless strength meter available in the taskbar either.The built in web camera shows the driver is installed and is working appropriately in the device manager list, but when you attempt to open it with other programs they all say something like "This device can't be found or is in use by another program". I thought I would try to install an external webcam by logitech, but it does the same as well. What can I do to restore this? There is no program that I can see in the application list that has control of it and I do believe obviously chkdsk did something by deleting VERY important files.As another note I have tried to fix the battery icon through all the suggested ways, but it still remains "greyed out" when I try to turn it on in the control panel section.
I DO NOT want to do a recovery with the Geek Squad discs.I did run a Seagate software utility to do a full scan of sectors on my hard drive and it found zero problems so I don't understand yet why the chkdsk did what it did.

I found a Windows.old file under the C drive, so that's what I figure happened.
Is there any way to make the USB drives work without having to revert to Windows XP? Also, are the ports not working simply because the drivers are not compatible with Win 7, or is there another problem (probably something simple and then I'll feel like an idiot =/ )?

Dec 21, 2010I have just recently upgraded my OS to Windows 7 Home Premium x64 from Vista Home Premium x64 using the Toshiba Windows 7 Laptop Upgrade. I've actually had the choice to upgrade ever since I got the disk around two months ago, but only now did I have enough time to spare to upgrade the system. Anyway, after upgrading to Windows 7, I noticed that my system was noticeably slower than usual. I could open several tabs on Chrome while running other programs on Vista and I would barely lag.
Now, I'm having problems only with a few programs running. I also noticed that my CPU usage was stuck at 100% and it's not going down or anything. My laptop isn't as slow as a rock right now, but something should be causing the processors to be at a constant 100%. My RAM usage is normal. 4 Gigs being used at around 50% right now. I'm just worried that maybe some programs that I had with Vista are slowing down the computer, but I was sure to uninstall or update any incompatible software too.
I'm running on a Core 2 Duo T6500 (2.1Ghz) Processor with 4.00 Gb of RAM. My laptop is around six months old right now.

Mar 16, 2011I am running an 8 pc network (all on windows 7 with 4 on pro and the other 3 are home versions). I have a file/media server running windows 7. I just upgraded from Windows Home Server to Windows 7 professional. I have set the workgroup name to the same on all pc's. I used to be able to browse the network from my computer and be able to see the server and all the other pc's. I can no longer see the server in the network view. I can access the server by typing //server in the explorer but it still does not appear when I attempt to browse my network neighbourhood. How can I get it to appear in the network view I am stuck as I have not had this issue before.

Dec 1, 20126 months ago I upgraded my PC with a intel 3820, x79ud3 mobo and 8 gigs of ddr3 ram. Ever since then occasionally the window 7 start up logo graphic would glitch up and i would get a black screen. at first i thought is was my mobo because that was the most significant change in the system. I've recently had it replaced(same model) and its happening more than ever. I've tested the PSU as well and its been able to hold a mark95 test and a furmark test, going at the same time, so its been ruled out. I've tried swaping out my graphics card but that didn't solve the problem either.
