I have a server set up in my office for 10 years and it is networked in within the office. Also it is set up for me to be able to connect to it by webmail and also to connect to see files and all I have on it. It has worked always, I was able to get in when out of town, till last week and on the same computer I have used, a laptop, now it does not let me in. The only change was, I have upgraded the laptop with the new Windows 7. I can still get in on my friend computer from outside the network, however he has Windows XP. I have tried other computers, some I can get in with some I cannot. I went to Staples and I cannot get in from there either. Does the new Windows have some new security installed preventing me to get in?

I just upgraded my Window Vista Home Premium x86 to Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Everything is okay after upgrading except for the speakers. When I play any kind of audio files, it has a buzzing sound. And if I turn my volume up, the buzzing will be louder. Everything was okay before I upgraded to Windows 7. Now this thing happens.
Audio software I'm using : Realtek HD Audio Manager

I bought a Netgear wireless router and usb adapter 2 years ago and have not had any problems connecting to the internet until I bought a new computer this week. The only thing I can figure is it has something to do with Windows 7 (my old computer ran Windows XP).
Here is what happens.
1. I plug in the adapter.
2. I connect to the internet
3. After about 30 seconds my connection drops.
Here is what I have done to-date (with no success):
1. Turned off Windows Firewall
2. When in to device properties and turned off option for Windows to turn off device for power savings mode
3. Downloaded and installed most recent driver for device.
What is so puzzling to me is that I can actually connect to the internet for a short period of time. That makes me think the router is alright. Is there something in Windows that would break the connection?

Last week I had a Win XP desktop computer. I use a Netgear WGR614 V6 router. I have fiber to the house and use a Cat5e Ethernet cable to connect the router to the wall jack and Cat5e from the router to the XP computer. I also used Wi-Fi to connect my Windows 7 x64 new laptop and an older XP laptop to the Internet. Everyone was happy and all worked well! I set-up a new Dell Windows 7 x64 desktop computer (it currently connects to the Internet just fine).
During the period I was setting up the new Windows 7 desktop I had both the XP desktop unit AND the new Windows 7 desktop connected to the router via Ethernet cables (at that time both laptops could connect to the Internet). After I had transferred the XP files to the Win 7 computer I just shut down the XP computer and removed the Ethernet cable linking the XP computer and the router - the new Windows 7 computer still connected to the Internet fine (as it still does today).
I made 2 changes to the router:
1) I had the XP desktop connected to Port 3 on the back of the router and had the Windows 7 x64 desktop connected to Port 2 on the router.
2) I used Cat5e cable on the XP desktop and used a Cat 6 cable to connect the new Windows 7 desktop unit to the router.
Both laptops see my router name but neither laptop can connect - even ran the troubleshooting routine. Could simply using Cat6 cable be causing a problem (Windows 7 desktop connects fine via the cable, laptops can not connect via Wi-Fi)? Surely just changing the port I connect the desktop cable to the router with wouldn't cause any problem would it? Do I need to do some sort of set-up or configuration to the new desktop unit to make the router Wi-Fi work for the laptops?

I've had my standard DSL 6mbps (actually got 5.3mbps) service for a year, no real issues with it. Pages loaded as usual, always been using Google Chrome.2 weeks ago I switched over to U-Verse and "doubled" the speed to 12mbps (getting 10.5mbps). Now everytime i go to any website, doesnt matter if it's yahoo, google, youtue, tomshardware... it either fails to load completely and chrome says it can not find the site, or it will find the site but not load any images as all. Instead I have to keep hitting refresh 2-5 times until everything loads correctly.I tried this on my other PC too, and it does the same thing... i cleared out the cache and downloads so everything would run fresh but it didnt help. I then tried using IE, and still get the same thing.

i recieved my new lenovo z570 ideapad yesterday...i'll just put some of the spec down incase you want to know.
proccessor: intel i5 (second gen)
graphics: nvidia geforce
os: windows 7 64bit
yadayadayada...
anyway, after charging it up and turning it on, i started to install programmes and other bits and bobs. e.g ituens, flash player. just the usual essentials. i used the laptop to watch videos on Internet, genenral browing such as facebook, so in short, the internet was working fine. just before i went to bed that night i installed avg security (free version) and ran a full scan. when the scan finished, i put the laptop into hibernate, and went to sleep! happy in the knowledge my new gizmo was running smoothly!
just before i woke up i heard the laptop turn off as it had run out of charge. so i plugged it in and charged it up, then turned it on. this is where the problem starts...i connected via wifi however the logo at the bottom right of the screen showed the signal strength meter on empty, with a yellow star covering it. i clicked the icon, and it said, 'not connected, connections are available' and below shows im connected with 5/5 signal strength, but on 'limited access'.
1) there might be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter
2)there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter
there are 28 updates, but im unable to update them as i have no internet connection. i also cant connect via the ethernet cable.i cant roll back the drivers as there are no previously installed ones, and i cant update them as i am already up to date.my other laptop (acer aspire 5630 running on vista) works perfectly fine using wifi and the ethernet cable, so i honestly dont know whats wrong. after reading things on my acer about ways to fix the problem i came to the decision to restore the laptop to the time of my first installation which was adobe flash player (which i installed the day before.) i was unable to do a full factory reset as the only options available are to either restore to a backup, or re-install windows (which requires a disc, which i dont have). i also didnt configure a backup as i had only had the laptop a day!

I CAN connect to internet just fine using my wifi BUT I CAN NO LONGER connect to 198.192.1.1!!! Any idea how to solve this problem? I'm using a Dell Insprion 1545 and Win7 32-bit. I never had this issue before, jut popped up when I tried using ICS on a different laptop, an IBM thinkpad T42 also using Win7 and connected to the same network via wifi. Again I can connect to the internet just fine on all my laptops, but 192.168.1.1 (for my netgear router) returns "unable to connect" page!!! have verified (via ipconfig) that my gateway ip is 192.168.1.1. I have valid IPs on all the laptops, but cannot connect to router setup page.

Went to bed last night and everything was fine. Woke up this morning and now my Win 7 machine can't connect to the internet. I checked for possible updates that might have happened last night, saw that there was 3 and tried uninstalling them. That didn't work, still no connectivity. My WinXP and PS3 connect fine so I think it has to be a problem with Windows 7.

When I connect the cable to the wireless router - my laptop gets connected to the Internet but if I want to use the cable directly to my laptop - it does not.If I connect the same cable to other laptops - the broad band connection works but not on my laptop.

So I recently wiped my harddrive due to a blue screen and reinstalled windows 7. Now it won't connect to the internet at all. It is wired to a wireless linksys WRL54GL but does not detect it.
I was thinking I may need to update some of my network drivers, which is going to stink doing that offline. I just wanted to make sure there aren't any more routes I could go to fix this problem

I have a Win 7 Home Premium box along with 4 WinXP boxes in a simple network. My Win 7 box can Remote Desktop to any of the WinXP boxes, and be used to "drive" them, no problem.I added a new machine yesterday that came with Win 7 Home PremiumAfter searching through other threads, I found it was stated that if I upgrade the new box to Win 7 Pro or Ultimate, I can then use my original Win 7 Home Prm to connect to, and "drive" the new Win 7 Ult. box.I successfully upgraded the new box, it's now confirmed to be running Win 7 Ultimate. I have also disabled the firewall, and checked the Remote Box Settings:Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure). However, the Home box cannot connect to the Ultimate box. It times out with the following error:Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons:1) Remote access to the server is not enabled2) The remote computer is turned off3) The remote computer is not available on the network.

I purchased a laptop last week with Windows 7 home premium. Currently have desktop wire to router with Windows 7 home premium as well. Everything hunky dorry in regards to internet connection. 2 days later, I've lost internet connection to both computers. Both say I'm connected to my network. I have other mobile devices that can connect to the router, so I don't think that's the issue. I read about disabling Home Group, which I did and that didn't help. I've got to think that there is a setting I just need to tweek, but have yet to come across something that works. The laptop does connect at my work to the WiFi so the network card is working properly. Both computers will connect to the internet if I bypass the router and connect ethernet cable directly from modem to computer.

I have a Velocity Micro desktop, it came with XP Media Center 32 bit and has a Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of ram, I've been wanting to try 7 for a long time so I bought a new 1TB WD black hard drive and a OEM copy of Win 7 home premium, I removed the old hard drive, installed new drive and proceeded to install Win 7, everything went fine on the install but I can't get it to connect to the internet, it reports error 651 "The modem has reported an error" and then a box pops up that looks like an old dial up connection box with a spot for a name and password and says redial in 45 sec. I'm not on dial up but am on DSL with a new Netgear N router, this computer was connecting fine just before I did the install, if I check Device manager it says the network card is working properly, and I can unhook the network cable from this computer and plug it into an old laptop with no wireless and it connects with the cable and gets 5Mbps speed so nothing is wrong with the cable

I'm having a connection issue with my new computer running Windows 7 Professional x64. When I first set it up, the wireless connection worked flawlessly, and then the next day the internet cut out and has not connected since (currently 2 days). Note that I can still connect to the Network, it is just the internet connection that is the issue. Other computers and devices can still connect to the network and internet, and as a temp fix I am using a wired connection to the same router.
My router is a Dynalink RTA1025W Rev2 using WPA2-Personal security, and my computer has a 802.11n Wireless LAN Card.
Release / Renew the IPFlushing the DNSCreating a static IP addressUpdating the wireless driverUninstalling / re-installing the network card / driverResetting the modem/routerResetting the computerDisabling the firewallChanging the security type (tried WEP and none)System restoring the computerWiping the computer back to it's original state I've probably tried a couple more things that have now slipped to the back of my mind in the many hours of frustration which I have encountered. None of the above have worked, even temporarily.
I have also attempted to connect to a neighbor's unsecured wireless network, however I was also unsuccessful with that.
