Reinstalled Windows 7 And Can't Connect To Internet?
Jan 21, 2012
I had to re install windows 7 and wipe my hard drive due to a BSOD, when i try to connect to the internet it says I am missing drivers, when I click download drivers it tells me it can't find any.
So I recently wiped my harddrive due to a blue screen and reinstalled windows 7. Now it won't connect to the internet at all. It is wired to a wireless linksys WRL54GL but does not detect it.
I was thinking I may need to update some of my network drivers, which is going to stink doing that offline. I just wanted to make sure there aren't any more routes I could go to fix this problem
alright so my laptop used to run windows 7, but had to reinstall operative system and only had a xp cd lying around, so i installed that. Problem is now that i need drivers to get the internet and usb ports working, but have no way of getting the files on the computer I tried to burn the files onto a cd, but when i insert it and open it, the cd shows as empty. Btw the cd was burned from another laptop with windows 7 if that is of any importance?
I recently had to reinstall (format and clean install) on my home PC. The admin account could access the internet right after the install. Once I added standard user accounts for each of my kids, those accounts can access the internet, but the admin account cannot.
I have a Dell Inspiron 14 that I bought last April. The hard drive crashed before Christmas and I had to send it to Dell of replacement. Obviously all other software applications on the computer were gone when we got the computer back from Dell. I have since reinstalled all software using my last license to do so. Now I am having major issues with internet explorer giving me an "Object Error" on some websites. All indications I have to reinstall windows 7. How do I do this and not loose all of my other applications that are on this computer?
anyway, after charging it up and turning it on, i started to install programmes and other bits and bobs. e.g ituens, flash player. just the usual essentials. i used the laptop to watch videos on Internet, genenral browing such as facebook, so in short, the internet was working fine. just before i went to bed that night i installed avg security (free version) and ran a full scan. when the scan finished, i put the laptop into hibernate, and went to sleep! happy in the knowledge my new gizmo was running smoothly!
just before i woke up i heard the laptop turn off as it had run out of charge. so i plugged it in and charged it up, then turned it on. this is where the problem starts...i connected via wifi however the logo at the bottom right of the screen showed the signal strength meter on empty, with a yellow star covering it. i clicked the icon, and it said, 'not connected, connections are available' and below shows im connected with 5/5 signal strength, but on 'limited access'.
1) there might be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter
2)there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter
there are 28 updates, but im unable to update them as i have no internet connection. i also cant connect via the ethernet cable.i cant roll back the drivers as there are no previously installed ones, and i cant update them as i am already up to date.my other laptop (acer aspire 5630 running on vista) works perfectly fine using wifi and the ethernet cable, so i honestly dont know whats wrong. after reading things on my acer about ways to fix the problem i came to the decision to restore the laptop to the time of my first installation which was adobe flash player (which i installed the day before.) i was unable to do a full factory reset as the only options available are to either restore to a backup, or re-install windows (which requires a disc, which i dont have). i also didnt configure a backup as i had only had the laptop a day!
I have been having problems with my new computer running Win7 Ultimate and have had to do an upgrade install. Now IE8 and Incredimail are unable to connect to the internet although Norton, Windows, System Mechanic, etc.,can all download updates
I CAN connect to internet just fine using my wifi BUT I CAN NO LONGER connect to 198.192.1.1!!! Any idea how to solve this problem? I'm using a Dell Insprion 1545 and Win7 32-bit. I never had this issue before, jut popped up when I tried using ICS on a different laptop, an IBM thinkpad T42 also using Win7 and connected to the same network via wifi. Again I can connect to the internet just fine on all my laptops, but 192.168.1.1 (for my netgear router) returns "unable to connect" page!!! have verified (via ipconfig) that my gateway ip is 192.168.1.1. I have valid IPs on all the laptops, but cannot connect to router setup page.
I can't seem to connect win 7 to the network in our office. It has only 2 options VLAN and Broadband. They both asked for a password that I don't have.
i recently got orders to japan. i have 2 laptops. one with vista one with windows 7. the vista laptop connects to the internet with not problem, while the windows 7 wont. the cable is running directly from the modem. it says unidentified network and when i do the diagnose thing, at the end it says something to the effect of the ip address is configured or whatever. i researched this issue on the web and tried everything and anything. i tried the service thing in the run screen and couldnt find the ##ip thing. i dont have bonjour installed on the windows 7 laptop.
I have a windows 7 computer that will not connect to my wifi anymore. Literally less than a week ago it was running fine and all was well. But now it says that it cannot connect to the Internet, even though I am using the wifi from my iPod,
Went to bed last night and everything was fine. Woke up this morning and now my Win 7 machine can't connect to the internet. I checked for possible updates that might have happened last night, saw that there was 3 and tried uninstalling them. That didn't work, still no connectivity. My WinXP and PS3 connect fine so I think it has to be a problem with Windows 7.
We recently switched providers from Megapath DSL to Verizon dsl. With Megapath all computers on our network could access the internet. With verizon all the xp computers connect to the internet with no problem but the windows 7 pc's only connect intermittently and sometimes not at all. They connect to the network just fine.
My HP Pavilion Entertainment Laptop Model dv6602 au on a broadband cable cannot connect to the Internet. The cable is directly connected to ethernet port on laptop. When I connect the cable to the wireless router - my laptop gets connected to the Internet but if I want to use the cable directly to my laptop - it does not.If I connect the same cable to other laptops - the broad band connection works but not on my laptop.
fresh copy of windows 7 installed. Before i had win xp pro and internet was not an issue. After installing windows 7 im getting Local Area Connection Doesent have a valid ip configuration. want to go use internet oh yeah also my ip is readin 169.254 and this is the only desktop that is connecting via lan cable
I purchased a laptop last week with Windows 7 home premium. Currently have desktop wire to router with Windows 7 home premium as well. Everything hunky dorry in regards to internet connection. 2 days later, I've lost internet connection to both computers. Both say I'm connected to my network. I have other mobile devices that can connect to the router, so I don't think that's the issue. I read about disabling Home Group, which I did and that didn't help. I've got to think that there is a setting I just need to tweek, but have yet to come across something that works. The laptop does connect at my work to the WiFi so the network card is working properly. Both computers will connect to the internet if I bypass the router and connect ethernet cable directly from modem to computer.
I have a Velocity Micro desktop, it came with XP Media Center 32 bit and has a Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of ram, I've been wanting to try 7 for a long time so I bought a new 1TB WD black hard drive and a OEM copy of Win 7 home premium, I removed the old hard drive, installed new drive and proceeded to install Win 7, everything went fine on the install but I can't get it to connect to the internet, it reports error 651 "The modem has reported an error" and then a box pops up that looks like an old dial up connection box with a spot for a name and password and says redial in 45 sec. I'm not on dial up but am on DSL with a new Netgear N router, this computer was connecting fine just before I did the install, if I check Device manager it says the network card is working properly, and I can unhook the network cable from this computer and plug it into an old laptop with no wireless and it connects with the cable and gets 5Mbps speed so nothing is wrong with the cable
I'm having a connection issue with my new computer running Windows 7 Professional x64. When I first set it up, the wireless connection worked flawlessly, and then the next day the internet cut out and has not connected since (currently 2 days). Note that I can still connect to the Network, it is just the internet connection that is the issue. Other computers and devices can still connect to the network and internet, and as a temp fix I am using a wired connection to the same router.
My router is a Dynalink RTA1025W Rev2 using WPA2-Personal security, and my computer has a 802.11n Wireless LAN Card.
Release / Renew the IPFlushing the DNSCreating a static IP addressUpdating the wireless driverUninstalling / re-installing the network card / driverResetting the modem/routerResetting the computerDisabling the firewallChanging the security type (tried WEP and none)System restoring the computerWiping the computer back to it's original state I've probably tried a couple more things that have now slipped to the back of my mind in the many hours of frustration which I have encountered. None of the above have worked, even temporarily.
I have also attempted to connect to a neighbor's unsecured wireless network, however I was also unsuccessful with that.
I updated to windows 7 ultimate and installed my previous wireless adapters driver and it is all set up fine. But when i click either connect inside the Netgear Genie window (i have a netgear adapter) or the windows connectivity icon i can not connect it says "connecting" brings up the loading icon and then it will say "windows can not connect to this wireless system" I have turned my computer of and back on again, My router of and on again, I have reinstalled my adapter drivers, restored my computer i have tried everything and as usual windows troubleshooting didn't help?
I have a desktop computer, HP P6000 series Windows 7 SP1, that is acting a little strange after being stored for a few months. We moved out in April and I just reconnected it last week. Now, the only icons I have running in my system tray are the volume and the HP digital imaging icons. I should have more, like SkyDrive, Dropbox, and most annoyingly WiFi.I cannot connect to the internet at all on the computer anymore. I tried system restore to an earlier time when I know it was working, but it did not change anything. Ask any questions you may have, I know I haven't described this well, but it is unusual.
I have the latest (with all necessary updates) version of Virtual PC and XP Mode. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise. The XP virtual machine seems to work fine, except for the internet I tried the VPN connection, and tried the network adapter card, but still I can not get Internet on the XP Virtual Machine.
My PC connects to the internet (wired) perfectly, but my TOSHIBA laptop does not. The router does not show the correct lights when plugged into the laptop, so I have tried resetting the router (with no success). When I plug the ethernet cable into the laptop, nothing happens at all.
I recently installed a fresh Win7 Ultimate on my PC. I have done this many times, but nothing like this has happened.
I have a problem connecting to the internet from my laptop. This is a screenshot of my Device Manager. [URL]
Don't worry, no viruses or anything. The diagnostic tools and built-in problem solving tools do nothing, as usual. If anyone could link me to a website to update it And it has to be specifically for my device since it cannot update through the internet.
I have a Toshiba Laptop A665-S5173. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate. Now I can't connect to the internet and get a message saying "Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver." Toshiba support wants to charge $100.00 to help me fix the problem. I have researched he problem but have not found a solution. I have a pc that an acess the internet.
