We recently switched providers from Megapath DSL to Verizon dsl. With Megapath all computers on our network could access the internet. With verizon all the xp computers connect to the internet with no problem but the windows 7 pc's only connect intermittently and sometimes not at all. They connect to the network just fine.
View 2 RepliesI'm having a connection issue with my new computer running Windows 7 Professional x64. When I first set it up, the wireless connection worked flawlessly, and then the next day the internet cut out and has not connected since (currently 2 days). Note that I can still connect to the Network, it is just the internet connection that is the issue. Other computers and devices can still connect to the network and internet, and as a temp fix I am using a wired connection to the same router.
My router is a Dynalink RTA1025W Rev2 using WPA2-Personal security, and my computer has a 802.11n Wireless LAN Card.

Windows 7 won't connect to the internet? The ethernet cable is plugged in and it works, but when I am on Windows 7 it cannot detect that I am connected to the internet. I have tried unplugging and replugging and restarting but it still doesn't work. When I troubleshoot, it says: Install a driver for your network adapter.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had this problem sporadically for the last month or so (since moving to this apartment). I am on the network but it says I have no internet acces. Other people on this network seem to connect fine (although they have had issues to) but I cant. I have 3 devices, all of which cant connect. On top of this, when i restart the computer or disconnect and reconnect adapter, I get internet access for about 20 seconds, enough time to load a google search or one webpage. however inevitably it always returns to the no internet access status. I have tried numerous fixs including reseting winsocks, using a new adapter, clearing browser history, changeing to static ip and changing back to automatically obtained one.

I installed a USB wireless device which worked when I tested it in wireless areas. But so far nothing has worked for the wired part. At one point before all this started, the internet worked intermittently and would work at other houses perfectly. So I assumed it was my modem or connection at my house. But then I plugged another PC into my modem and it worked instantly. So I know there is no physical problem with my connection, modem or cables.
I can connect to my router, and the icon shows "Internet Access" and I can access my shared folders. But I can't access the internet. I've got both IE and Chrome and both do not work.

I've been having connection problems for the last year, it's really annoying and so hard to understand whats happening. The internet connection is my dads, he lives in the garage beside me. He's with talk-talk fibre optic. The small modem type thing that connects is in the garage along with the main router that connects to the small thing, not sure what this is but it obviously connects to the fibre optic.His PC is connected to the router by wire, there is then a wire that runs from that router up through the garage and into the house through the wall in one of the bedrooms, this is were I have a router or two, (i've tried two routers with mixed results.) I'm connected via wireless through the second router in a room upstairs and get full signal when connected. I have a belkin 54g and a netgear dg834n. Now this morning after leaving my computer on all night, i woke up and it wasn't connected. Although this happens everyday when i turn my laptop on, i have to connect via wireless to the main router in the garage, then reconnect to the router up stairs to get the connection to come on. This time round it wont work at all. The netgear gives me - "Windows Networking TroubleShoot Error: The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken."

I made on desktop pc an ad hoc connection with protection and security key.
Turned on wlan on laptop and it was detected. But as i try to connect, at the end i get unidentified network and can't connect to Internet.
But my first try was a success and i had Internet and a working home group.
Now i don't know how sometimes i get home group (on my laptop i can share music, videos etc thats on my desktop pc) but i still don't have Internet. Or in the worst chase both are gone.
Now i noticed when i go to Network and Sharing Center and then enter "Change advanced sharing settings" i see that a Public is the (current profile). How do i change that to be the Home?

The Connection was working about ten days ago and then suddenly stopped and read as an unidentified network no internet access. at one point is was not receiving packets but now it is but it still says no internet access on the IPv4 Connectivity. Media state is also enabled and the speed is 100.0 Mbps when i troubleshoot it says windows cant identify problem but in the details it says default gateway is available. when i use the cmd prompt ipconfig/all my local ethernet adapter has a physical address of all zeros.
Can anyone advise how I would go about fixing this. I am trying to connect to a network (I have a dell running on windows 7) and it keeps telling me that windows is unable to connect to the network-this is before I can even enter the security key. I know it is not a problem with the wireless because other people are able to connect to it fine.

anyway, after charging it up and turning it on, i started to install programmes and other bits and bobs. e.g ituens, flash player. just the usual essentials. i used the laptop to watch videos on Internet, genenral browing such as facebook, so in short, the internet was working fine. just before i went to bed that night i installed avg security (free version) and ran a full scan. when the scan finished, i put the laptop into hibernate, and went to sleep! happy in the knowledge my new gizmo was running smoothly!
just before i woke up i heard the laptop turn off as it had run out of charge. so i plugged it in and charged it up, then turned it on. this is where the problem starts...i connected via wifi however the logo at the bottom right of the screen showed the signal strength meter on empty, with a yellow star covering it. i clicked the icon, and it said, 'not connected, connections are available' and below shows im connected with 5/5 signal strength, but on 'limited access'.
1) there might be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter
2)there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter
there are 28 updates, but im unable to update them as i have no internet connection. i also cant connect via the ethernet cable.i cant roll back the drivers as there are no previously installed ones, and i cant update them as i am already up to date.my other laptop (acer aspire 5630 running on vista) works perfectly fine using wifi and the ethernet cable, so i honestly dont know whats wrong. after reading things on my acer about ways to fix the problem i came to the decision to restore the laptop to the time of my first installation which was adobe flash player (which i installed the day before.) i was unable to do a full factory reset as the only options available are to either restore to a backup, or re-install windows (which requires a disc, which i dont have). i also didnt configure a backup as i had only had the laptop a day!
I have been having problems with my new computer running Win7 Ultimate and have had to do an upgrade install. Now IE8 and Incredimail are unable to connect to the internet although Norton, Windows, System Mechanic, etc.,can all download updates

View 1 Replies View Relatedi recently got orders to japan. i have 2 laptops. one with vista one with windows 7. the vista laptop connects to the internet with not problem, while the windows 7 wont. the cable is running directly from the modem. it says unidentified network and when i do the diagnose thing, at the end it says something to the effect of the ip address is configured or whatever. i researched this issue on the web and tried everything and anything. i tried the service thing in the run screen and couldnt find the ##ip thing. i dont have bonjour installed on the windows 7 laptop.
