Unable To Connect To Internet (Identifying Network)
Jan 19, 2012
I have a hp pavilion windows 7 home premium that will not connect to the internet. When i ping google.com i get "ping request could not find host google.com. please check name and try again.". however, when i ping 74.125.224.176 i get "PING: transmit failed. General failure. 100% loss". I have also tried to connect while in safe-mode but not luck and i also reset all setting in IE. I have two other computers connecting to my 2wire modem and they are both working fine. The last attempt was installing a new network pci card. I have also swapped out the cable but i still get "Identifying... No internet access."

I've been having connection problems for the last year, it's really annoying and so hard to understand whats happening. The internet connection is my dads, he lives in the garage beside me. He's with talk-talk fibre optic. The small modem type thing that connects is in the garage along with the main router that connects to the small thing, not sure what this is but it obviously connects to the fibre optic. His PC is connected to the router by wire, there is then a wire that runs from that router up through the garage and into the house through the wall in one of the bedrooms, this is were I have a router or two, (i've tried two routers with mixed results.) I'm connected via wireless through the second router in a room upstairs and get full signal when connected. I have a belkin 54g and a netgear dg834n. Now this morning after leaving my computer on all night, i woke up and it wasn't connected. Although this happens everyday when i turn my laptop on, i have to connect via wireless to the main router in the garage, then reconnect to the router up stairs to get the connection to come on. This time round it wont work at all. The netgear gives me - "Windows Networking TroubleShoot Error: The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken."
I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed on my machine. Whenever I try to connect to a wireless network it does not get connected. It keeps only identifying...
I am getting IPs using DHCP only and rest all things like authentication are correct.
If I run "ipconfig -all" it gives "Media disconnected" for all adapters, does it mean it's hardware issue?
I have recently been having difficulties with connecting with my wireless connection. We have a in-home router that is connected to two computer's downstairs by cable. I however own a Acer, Windows 7 laptop that I mainly use upstairs and I get a Excellent signal strength.I have connected to my Home wireless connection before with no problem but recently the connection keeps coming up as ~Identifying... No Internet Access. Also when I have had connection to this network prior to this problem the connection is under Home. But when I try to connect to the same network it comes up as Public or just keeps Identifying. I have the connection set to Connect Automatically. Also the yellow triangle with the exclamation point almost always pops up immediately when I reboot my system or after I Disconnect and Connect the network again. I have tried Disabling and Enabling the network in the adapter settings and this does not work either. In the manage wireless networks tab, I have repeatedly deleted the connection and reentered the security password and again put it as automatically connect but it still comes up as Identifying. I have seen many people with this same problem and have tried many of the suggestions to no avail. It is rather bizarre because my connection will be in this Identifying state for a while and randomly connect properly and I have no idea what makes it go off and on so erratically. I just had it working again for a few days and it is again acting up.
Can anyone advise how I would go about fixing this. I am trying to connect to a network (I have a dell running on windows 7) and it keeps telling me that windows is unable to connect to the network-this is before I can even enter the security key. I know it is not a problem with the wireless because other people are able to connect to it fine.
anyway, after charging it up and turning it on, i started to install programmes and other bits and bobs. e.g ituens, flash player. just the usual essentials. i used the laptop to watch videos on Internet, genenral browing such as facebook, so in short, the internet was working fine. just before i went to bed that night i installed avg security (free version) and ran a full scan. when the scan finished, i put the laptop into hibernate, and went to sleep! happy in the knowledge my new gizmo was running smoothly!
just before i woke up i heard the laptop turn off as it had run out of charge. so i plugged it in and charged it up, then turned it on. this is where the problem starts...i connected via wifi however the logo at the bottom right of the screen showed the signal strength meter on empty, with a yellow star covering it. i clicked the icon, and it said, 'not connected, connections are available' and below shows im connected with 5/5 signal strength, but on 'limited access'.
1) there might be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter
2)there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter
there are 28 updates, but im unable to update them as i have no internet connection. i also cant connect via the ethernet cable.i cant roll back the drivers as there are no previously installed ones, and i cant update them as i am already up to date.my other laptop (acer aspire 5630 running on vista) works perfectly fine using wifi and the ethernet cable, so i honestly dont know whats wrong. after reading things on my acer about ways to fix the problem i came to the decision to restore the laptop to the time of my first installation which was adobe flash player (which i installed the day before.) i was unable to do a full factory reset as the only options available are to either restore to a backup, or re-install windows (which requires a disc, which i dont have). i also didnt configure a backup as i had only had the laptop a day!
I have been having problems with my new computer running Win7 Ultimate and have had to do an upgrade install. Now IE8 and Incredimail are unable to connect to the internet although Norton, Windows, System Mechanic, etc.,can all download updates
When I first reinstalled the windows 7 it worked fine and I was connected to the Internet using my belkin USB adapter. But after moving my computer to a new room the Internet connection stopped working. Ive ran trouble shooters over and over and it says its a router or adapter issue, but all the other computers in the house are connected to the Internet just fine. I've reconfigured everything, restored and I was told to post here!I also want to add that it connects to the Internet but after about a minute it gets the triangle with the ! And acts connected but I cannot open any web pages or open any online games. When I trouble shoot it still tells me that Its in the adapter, router, modem, gateway or related issue.
i have installed windows 7 on hp pavillion dv65000 laptop. there is a yellow triangle on the network driver(NVIDIA nForce networking Controller). it not able to connect to the internet even though the wireless is a able to connect to the internet. i try to update it through the internet and it tells me i have the latest drivers and yet it is not able to connect to internet through wire(RJ45 connection
I am using a lenovo thinkpad x100e running wins 7 32bit.The problem is that im unable to connect to the internet explorer....I have been able to connect to my router using cable and on wireless.Have been able to download windows updates and java updates without any issues.
I have a problem. i cant connect to internet. I cant connect everywhere what is with internet (skype , steam , windows live messenger and more) . In the right down corner shows Network Internet Access. What should i do?
I recently got Windows 7 on one of my desktops. I plugged in my Logitech 5.1 speaker system and I am getting absolutely nothing out of them. I went through the obvious checks (not muted). I was then searching my computer for evidence of the speakers even being recognized, and as far as I can tell they are not. I have Realtek High Definition Audio, and I've tried disabling/enabling this several times accompanied with a couple restarts of the computer.I understand I may need to update my drivers but at this point I'm unable to connect to the internet (Will have access in a couple days). I have searched this problem on my other computers and I'm getting mixed answers. I've heard my soundcard may not be compatible, the drivers are out dated, or I may want to use something other than Realtek.
I am unable to connect to the internet in wireless mode. It shows the available networks, but does not connect when I type in my router password. I have tried everything I know of. Uninstalled/Reinstalled the driver - I have an Intel 5100 AGN wireless driver installed. I disabled and enabled it. Didn't work. Running command prompt and typing in ipconfig /all doesn't detect my adapter device - says "Media Disconnected".I also did these by running command prompt as an administrator: Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalogReset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.logReset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.logand restarted my computer. I have a Dell Studio 1555 with Win 7 (32-bit) Professional. What am I supposed to do now? Please help!PS: I know this is a problem with my Windows as the wireless works seamlessly in my Ubuntu.
I am trying to get on websites via chrome, IE.. Etc however it just won't connect. I have checked all my settings like the proxy settings etc and it sill don't work. Program's like Steam and Dropbox are still able to connect to the Internet though. I have also tried a reboot of the router.
I just restored Windows 7 Home Premium and for some reason I can't connect to the internet anymore. When I run my Diagnostic Tool it says that the computer is properly set up but that the following ressource "(w w w. microsoft. com)" seems to be unrespnsive. Drivers are up to date and network card is 802.11n Wireless LAN card from Ralink technology Corp.
friend has just taken delivery of a Virgin Media all-in-one hub and can't access the internet via the ethernet connection but can via wireless.I've got the pc here. Here's the state of play:Her pc can access the internet via MY cable modem. My pc can access the internet via HER all-in-one hub.I cannot get her pc to access the internet via HER all-in-one hub (which mirrors her experience). So, there's nothing wrong with her pc because she can access the internet just fine via my connection; her all-in-one hub seems fine as I can access the internet via it.....it's just her pc and her hub that don't seem to like each other!'ve tried ipconfig/release etc to no avail. If I type 192.168.0.1 into a browser window, I can get into the all-in-one hub's setup but there's nothing unusual in there.
my pc is unable to connect wireless network eventhough connections are available.it shows that there is a problem in network adaptor and windows cannot connect the hidden network.

I've recently changed hard drives as the last one failed. I've got windows home premium running fine but it won't connect to the internet. It says 'plug an ethernet cable into this computer', i press the button to 'keep trying to fix problem' and it comes up with 'a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken. All i want is to connect to the wireless internet at home but it won't pick up any??
tried to install ilivid to downloads some music and now cannot connect to the internet.aving done an avg scan it found faxcool.exe and moved it to the virus vault. However i can still not connect to the internet or any network. I bought my pc a few months ago refurbished off a private seller with Windows 7 installed on it.
Just started having problems connection to any network or internet. Have new lappy that was working great until today. I am going out of town for a while and I was setting up my Slingbox. Somewhere along the line, I lost ANY connections, even to the router.
Have tried 3 different restore points. Can connect with wire to the router & get internet. HP, 64 bit.
just built my computer and when I tried to connect it to the internet through an ethernet cable it created a broadband network connection. Then when I try to connect it tells me the modem had encountered a problem it's error 651 and I can't connect to
Came home and hooked up to wireless network. I can see my server and the 5 shared folders available. But I am unable to connect to any of them. Each time it says
"Windows cannot access serverstorage"
"You do not have permission to access server.
Any ideas?
FYI Yes I have network discovery on etc etc. These ARE password protected folders, but it's not even prompting me for a user/pass. When I attempt to Create a network drive and use different credential which is an account on that machine it says "it's currently mapped using a different user-name and password".
