View 3 RepliesThis started suddenly after I turned my desktop pc off before going away for a week. When I came home and turned it back on, it hasn't been "normal" since. When I start my computer, go to my user folder, documents etc., all appears fine. Folders/thumbnails and images within the folder appear as normal. However, if I open (for instance) my "downloads" folder, the folder icons and associated icons are initially displayed as "normal", but I see that the explorer bar (where I see C:/user/downloads, etc) is "computing items" but it never stops. A green "progress bar" SLOWLY moves across that "text window" and then it stays green. As if the pc is having trouble reading what is in the folder.Once that happens, if I back out of the folder and then go back in to it, most of the folder icons/thumbnails/pictures are no longer visible. If I navigate to other folders, it's the same thing; many (but not all) of the folder icons and the thumbnails within are not displayed. Example: in my "user file" the AppData and Tracing folders, the icon is non existant....yet my Contacts, Desktop, Favorites, Documents etc. are shown as standard windows "yellow folders" but not the thumbnails that I have associated with them. Also, the file info (if I highlight a file name) does not appear at the bottom of the explorer window, as it normally would for me.I have run my anti-virus, malwarebytes, which are showing no problems and I have also tried "indexing" but no luck. I do have an external drive that is close to full, but it is disconnected. My C drive is
currently 873gb full of 1.35tb. Recovery partition is 1.63gb free of 13.2gb - which I have never "messed with", though I have previously done 2 "reset to factory settings"
I am using below Configuration,OS : Windows 7 HOme Basic 64 Bit Laptop : Sony Vaio - VPCEB44EN I've reistalled OS , after that Win7 is not going to Hibernate mode ..
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter almost a year of "no problems" operation my PC has suddenly developed a strange will of its own on shut-down.I always put my PC into hibernate mode rather than switching it off. I use the START/Shut Down/Hibernate series of steps. Suddenly recently, my PC still goes into hibernate, as previously, but after approx 2-3 seconds the PC suddenly restarts! The only way to end PC use is now to shut it down completely which is a pain as it takes far longer to restart next time I use the machine.

When I put Windows 7 in hibernation and switch the computer back on, I don't get the dual boot menu which gives me the option to choose between 7 or XP. Instead, Windows 7 starts loading. Is it possible to start XP while 7 is in hibernation, and if so, how can I do this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSome weeks ago I made a reinstall of my Win7 Home Premium x64 (a Dell M1330 with 4gb RAM). After then, my machine starts having random BSOD errors when going or recovering from sleep or hibernate mode. The error is a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, with code 0x0000009f.I attach here the info grabbed with W7F Diagnostic Tool, CPU z pictures and RAMmon html report. If it helps, here is the info I see with WinDbg looking the last minidump.

View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery evening after hibernation, the computer comes out of hibernation unexpectedly, lights up the screen unasked for!Note: I have adjusted the power settings in control panel to do this w/o a password wake-up. Even the screen doesn't dim with no use! This is a new phenomenon, it was working properly about a month ago. I did at one time in the last month reset everything to defaults, but that was in response to the beginning of this problem !
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have recently moved to Windows 7 (upon getting a new motherboard installed) and 2 weeks later. I cannot start up as I get a 'Restart from Hibernate' message on screen but nothing further happens. I have tried a 'hard restart' from power off several times, allowing plenty of time for capacitor discharge etc but get the same message. More worrying is that I cannot find any way to get the pc to start in safe mode or use restore as Windows 7 seems almost to be bypassing the bios. Holding down delete on startup shows the first line of the bios screen then moves immediately to the hibernate message. It seems to move into that screen before the keyboard or mouse are activated. How I can get out of hibernate?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow a machine Windows 7 or XP once goes to sleep/hibernate mode, can be identified on the network to do a Wake-On-LAN. Because the machine is shutdown, the ping does not give a response. In a DHCP environment, when the machine goes to sleep mode, the ip is released so not necessarily the machine can be identified with its IP.

Have been reading bleeping computers.com and figured out where to find the error report, and pasted it below. View 1 Replies View RelatedI previously had a computer with Vista on it. I purchased a new computer with Windows 7 and installed MS Office 2010. I transferred all my files from my old computer to my new computer and now when I go to insert pictures into my website, the pictures are not showing up as thumbnails so I can view all at the same time. They just show that little icon.I have went through a lot of the threads in response to this problem and have tried them all without any success. Could it be old settings that transferred over and are not compatible.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 50gb partition that holds mostly video files. In Explorer they show the icon for their file type generated by KMPlayer (my default media player) but I cannot figure out how to go back to thumbnail view.
I tried the View settings in Explorer choosing large icons. And in Organize>Folder Options choose to uncheck the box for "always show icons never thumbnails". But I can't get this drive to show thumbnails. The root folder and all subfolders show only KMP icons.
So I've been seeing this instead of like a thumbnail of the beginning of the video.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 ultimate 64bit, I just upgraded from professional, when I had professional, all of my videos had thumbnail previews. Now, just about zero do. View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows 7 just like you all. Ultimate edition, 64-bit. The system is running perfectly without any problems, but I got one issue after two weeks of using Windows 7. The problem is that video preview thumbnails are not showing up. "Show thumbnails instead of icons" in view options is checked.Take a look. On the left side is my HDV camcoder captured files, .mt2 format. But on the right side is my video folder, contains .mp4 and .wmv formats. As you can see .mp4 .wmv thumbnails are missing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince some time my png thumbnails doesnot appear in explorer. All the other image file types are fine.I tried changing the default program to open png files but it remains the same.I tried rebuild icon cache without success. What can be the problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have this issue with thumbnails of photos taking a very long time to load when I open a folder in windows explorer. I mean a really long time, like 5+ minutes, for a folder that contains say 200 pictures. And this happens all the time, regardless of what else may be running, and regardless of what size thumbnails I select. What's weird too is that if I have an external harddrive hookep up through a USB 2 or 3, and open a folder in windows explorer with a similar number of pictures, those thumbnails load normal, fast. So it's only slow when it's reading thumbnails from my internal harddrive. Otherwise I don't believe my internal drive is slow, as everything else like launching programs etc works fine.
btw, I'm on an Envy 17 laptop, i5, 8 gigs RAM, 640 gig hars drive, Win 7 home premium. But I don't think my system config matters, since as I said, thumbnails load fine when reading from an external drive.
When I upgraded from XP (a long time ago) I deleted all the thumbs.db files. I can see thumbnails on my local C: drive. If I browse my network drive I can see thumbnails.
But I have also mapped my network drive as Z:. If I browse the mapped drive I can't see thumbnails.
Can anybody confirm that they can/cannot see thumbnails on mapped drives that don't contain thumbs.db.
Folders don't initially incorporate Folder.jpg into their thumbnail. If I browse into the folder I can see the thumbnail for Folder.jpg only. If I then return to the parent folder the folder now incorporates Folder.jpg into it's thumbnail.
Recently I had to restore my laptop to factory settings and now when I go online and try to click on an image it will not open. the screen goes slightly darker and a single white bar about 6 inches long runs horizontaly across the top of my screen. The background is still visible but thats it. I am using win 7 home on a 64 bit system. Is there something I can reload or enable?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy thumb nails for every file format is just the generic video file icon. This is very very annoying when trying to video edit.
View 5 Replies View RelatedRunning Windows 7 Pro X64. Some *.avi files show thumbnails but others show an icon. Folder view options the same for all sub-folders in the main video folder. "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is unchecked. Switching that setting causes a change in some folders but not in others. Not a train smash.
