Dec 2, 2011I have recently moved to Windows 7 (upon getting a new motherboard installed) and 2 weeks later. I cannot start up as I get a 'Restart from Hibernate' message on screen but nothing further happens. I have tried a 'hard restart' from power off several times, allowing plenty of time for capacitor discharge etc but get the same message. More worrying is that I cannot find any way to get the pc to start in safe mode or use restore as Windows 7 seems almost to be bypassing the bios. Holding down delete on startup shows the first line of the bios screen then moves immediately to the hibernate message. It seems to move into that screen before the keyboard or mouse are activated. How I can get out of hibernate?

May 15, 2011After almost a year of "no problems" operation my PC has suddenly developed a strange will of its own on shut-down.I always put my PC into hibernate mode rather than switching it off. I use the START/Shut Down/Hibernate series of steps. Suddenly recently, my PC still goes into hibernate, as previously, but after approx 2-3 seconds the PC suddenly restarts! The only way to end PC use is now to shut it down completely which is a pain as it takes far longer to restart next time I use the machine.

Sep 14, 2012installing Win 7 x64 from a bootable USB I made with WinToFlash on a Asus X401A.I know the stick is bootable because it loads windows files but after I chose language and keyboard and press install it says: "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."I know this is a known problem but I have tried all the solution I could find, Change from USB port 3.0 to 2.0, use Ultra Iso to write Win images to stick (Win 7 32,64, Vista 32,64) but to no avail.
Note: last night when I used WinToFlash for the first time to transfer Win to the stick, instead of copying the files manually after I format the stick, I managed to install Windows but the USB ports didn't work at all, I tried 3 different sticks and nothing and I didn't have any drivers on the HDD and with no way to transfer anything on the notebook I fuleshly decided to reinstall Windows but I ran into the same "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" error.On top of all of that the previous installation of windows wont boot, it says " windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause" and Repair your computer from the stick doesn't work.

Dec 15, 2012Some weeks ago I made a reinstall of my Win7 Home Premium x64 (a Dell M1330 with 4gb RAM). After then, my machine starts having random BSOD errors when going or recovering from sleep or hibernate mode. The error is a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, with code 0x0000009f.I attach here the info grabbed with W7F Diagnostic Tool, CPU z pictures and RAMmon html report. If it helps, here is the info I see with WinDbg looking the last minidump.

First, verify what sound device and video device you have before you start this process it will provide some confidence in the steps here. The Dell Inspiron 1420 Im referring to had a SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio processor and a NVidia GeForce 8400GS Graphics processor. Windows 7 doesnt seem to know this hardware is part of the machine and so the drivers are completely missing, instead there is generic audio driver (enables the headphone jacks, but not the built-in speakers) and a generic VGA graphics adapter driver provided (that provides full resolution but no Aero support).

Feb 8, 2013It will only stay booted in Safe Mode. When I start the computer, it boots up, stays booted for a few minutes, then the screen goes black and it reboots. This keeps happening unless it is booted in Safe Mode. Purchased with Vista; I clean installed Windows 7 Home Premium (I know it's legit, bought it for her myself) when Windows 7 first came out.
When I turned it on, it rebooted so I started it in Safe mode and have tried/found the following problems: It had 4 adware programs and one trojan horse; removed those with Malwarebytes. Rescanned with Malwarebytes and MS Security Essentials, came out clean - Device manager showed two problems - bad drivers for co-processor and bad drivers for Graphics card. Installed those drivers and the Device Manager did not show anything wrong. Problem keeps happening.
Opened BIOS and ran both Hard Drive and Memory Diagnostics; no problems found, Did not make any BIOS changes (I have little experience with BIOS) - Ran diagnostics with Windows 7 disk; including Repair, Memory Diagnostics; no problems found - Graphics card is NVIDIA GeFroce 7150M/nforce 630M; reinstalled drivers, didn't work anything - When the screen saver goes on, there is an error message. "The screen saver can't run because it requires a newer video card or one that's compatible with Direct 3D".
This is an old computer, well out of warranty. Do I still possibly have an embedded virus? What removal tool should I get? Is it worth replacing the graphics card - if that's possible on an old laptop? Should I try a clean install of Windows 7?

I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed on my 320 Gb HDD and everything is running ok. I just bought a WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA III disk and I want to install Windows 7 there, since the disk is faster. Here's what happens. When I connect the disk (it is connected GSATA 3 connectors), the disk will be recognized in bios and in Windows, but wont show under My Computer. I figured it must be some software bug so I formatted the disk in diskpart (clean format) and installed Windows 7 on it. At that time the GSATA 3 interface was set to IDE mode. It ran fine but after installing a big batch of Windows updates, the system hung at windows startup screen. After restoring the system to a previous state (i.e. before the updates), the system booted up normally.
I didn't know what was wrong so I formatted again, and this time I set the GSATA 3 to AHCI mode, since I realized this is a better option. When installing in AHCI mode, the computer expands the windows files but when the system is restarted, I get a BSOD (code Stop 0x000000B4 video driver failed to initialize) at Setup is updating registry settings. I really want to use the AHCI mode, but I cant get the system to work in IDE either so its really a bugger. I have no idea what could be causing this as the system works fine when using the other disk. Can the BSOD be caused by the HDD? Anyway, I really want to start using the disk. I have tried installing Windows 7 from a dvd as well as from a USB key.

Nov 24, 2012Windows 7 wont install, I've tested the RAM I've tried it on my hard drive and SSD. I have installed windows XP and it works fine I am using the PC now.... Windows will install then it restarts and goes to the starting windows screen, turns black then restarts asks how I want to start windows. I tried safe mode I have updated BIOS I feel like I have tried everything and I can't get it to work. I have spent 15+ hours trying to figure this out and I am going insane because I cant get Windows 7 to work on my new PC.
