I've tried going into folder options and unticking and ticking. I've ran disk clean up I've ran sfc /scannow I've installed some codecs
I did find something about editing the registry but when I was following the instructions I couldn't find the specified area mentioned in the article. So I haven't actually change anything in my registry yet.
Ive read this is a windows 7 problem but all my mp4's have the usual default image instead of what they used to have when I first downloaded them. Did the thumbnail location change? I did, at one point, install a new media player which became my default for some reason, I corrected that problem but all my mp4 thumbnails vanished after I returned media player as my default...whats the deal here? I tried clearing and resetting the thumbnail cache, I also tried rebuilding the icon cache
I previously had a computer with Vista on it. I purchased a new computer with Windows 7 and installed MS Office 2010. I transferred all my files from my old computer to my new computer and now when I go to insert pictures into my website, the pictures are not showing up as thumbnails so I can view all at the same time. They just show that little icon.I have went through a lot of the threads in response to this problem and have tried them all without any success. Could it be old settings that transferred over and are not compatible.
I have a problem with the display of thumbnails of videos, especially AVIs and MPGs. Apparently mkv, 3gp and mp4 display fine. I have attached an example of what's showing.
I have Windows 7 ultimate 64bit, I just upgraded from professional, when I had professional, all of my videos had thumbnail previews. Now, just about zero do. Is there a way to get this back to the way it was before? For example, I use VLC as my default player to open vids and it is just the cone, no thumb. The same goes with WMP
My hubby is running Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit on an Emachines PC.
Intermittently picture thumbnails and program icons will suddenly stop showing up and will turn to only blank white icons. (Sometimes it affects a few files or the whole folder) You can see the thumbnails one minute, go out and back into the directory, and they are gone. Refreshing the folder view does not bring the thumbs back.
Going into other folders is fine and thumbnails show, but once it fails on a particular folder, it will continue to NOT show thumbs or icons for that folder until a restart is done. We have also tried to clean the thumbnails cache to no avail. This problem happens on all drives, flash drives, network drives, local drives, etc...)
There is one other bug that may be related. Sometimes his My Computer will not load. He can get to My Documents etc... but My Computer hangs forever until he restarts. It is an intermittent problem as well so hard to debug.
I'm using Windows 7 just like you all. Ultimate edition, 64-bit. The system is running perfectly without any problems, but I got one issue after two weeks of using Windows 7. The problem is that video preview thumbnails are not showing up. "Show thumbnails instead of icons" in view options is checked.Take a look. On the left side is my HDV camcoder captured files, .mt2 format. But on the right side is my video folder, contains .mp4 and .wmv formats. As you can see .mp4 .wmv thumbnails are missing.
Running Windows 7 Pro X64. Some *.avi files show thumbnails but others show an icon. Folder view options the same for all sub-folders in the main video folder. "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is unchecked. Switching that setting causes a change in some folders but not in others. Not a train smash.
After finishing a *.m4v Video Download and placing only said File into into my Movie Folder I noticed the File Icon not displaying the usual Windows 7 Video Icon with an embedded Screencap but the actual Poster of the Movie. My question would be either: a) As I like this Idea pretty much I'd like to know how this is beeing done and if it's possible to do this with other files aswell like *.avi, *.mpg, *.m2ts, etc... b) As I hate to have only one file like this I'd like to know how to revert this to the usual Windows 7 Video Icon with an embedded Screencap in case it's not possible with most of the file types.
I've been downloading many Videos and I watch them on WMP (I'm running Windows 7 64Bit) and I have variety of files. But for some reason files like .Mp4 would show thumbnails/an image of the video while my MKV files just show an Icon. I have installed K-Lite codec pack 5.2.0 (64Bit) to enable my WMP to watch several files. Also I have try installing the Divx preview thing (Forgot what's it called) and it does make the Mkv show the thumbnail but it lags incredibly when I play it. Is there any alternate way to make my MKV videos show thumbnails?
I have a desktop with Windows XP Pro SP3, and a netbook with Windows 7 Home edition SP1. It appears that the "Thumbnails" (picture) option has been eliminated from the video files "View" menu options, so I can no longer see a pictorial snapshot of the contents of my video files.
Is this option completely eliminated or is there something I can do to retrieve this feature for Windows 7?
I didn't used to have this problem before. For some unknown reason, all my video files have a separate PNG file next to it with a picture of the thumbnail. I don't remember changing any viewing options that may have triggered this.
When I was transferring mp4 videos from my laptop to my phone, Windows 7 was asking me if I want to convert them. That was a really good option, because they were running on my phone better than the mp4. But now that option is gone. So guys, can you tell me how should I enable this option again?
I have a toolbar on my taskbar titled "Programs". It has about eight folders in it. I made another toolbar, and placed it directly adjacent to the Programs toolbar, to obscure the eight folders and force it to be a dropdown menu.Trouble is, as soon as I lock my taskbar, right next to the arrow that displays the eight items of my Programs toolbar in menu-form, one of the eight items is showing up as an icon, as if the other toolbar isn't close enough to the Programs toolbar in order to completely obscure the eight items.
i was having problems with files giving me an in use error when trying to rename, move or delete files......especially mkvs.....i found an online tutorial using a windows configuration file to disable thumbnailing.....now i have a bunch of photos i need to go through and i can't even open them in the previewer...I can't remember how i got to that file to change it or how to even word the error so i can recreate the search....its nothing simple like disabling it in visual settings.
I have a 50gb partition that holds mostly video files. In Explorer they show the icon for their file type generated by KMPlayer (my default media player) but I cannot figure out how to go back to thumbnail view.
I tried the View settings in Explorer choosing large icons. And in Organize>Folder Options choose to uncheck the box for "always show icons never thumbnails". But I can't get this drive to show thumbnails. The root folder and all subfolders show only KMP icons.
Using Word 7 and choosing pics to include in document. How do I change the VIEW of my pictures? It currently shows the name of the jpeg only. How do I change it all over to thumbnail of the pictures?
Since some time my png thumbnails doesnot appear in explorer. All the other image file types are fine.I tried changing the default program to open png files but it remains the same.I tried rebuild icon cache without success. What can be the problem?
I have this issue with thumbnails of photos taking a very long time to load when I open a folder in windows explorer. I mean a really long time, like 5+ minutes, for a folder that contains say 200 pictures. And this happens all the time, regardless of what else may be running, and regardless of what size thumbnails I select. What's weird too is that if I have an external harddrive hookep up through a USB 2 or 3, and open a folder in windows explorer with a similar number of pictures, those thumbnails load normal, fast. So it's only slow when it's reading thumbnails from my internal harddrive. Otherwise I don't believe my internal drive is slow, as everything else like launching programs etc works fine.
btw, I'm on an Envy 17 laptop, i5, 8 gigs RAM, 640 gig hars drive, Win 7 home premium. But I don't think my system config matters, since as I said, thumbnails load fine when reading from an external drive.
When I upgraded from XP (a long time ago) I deleted all the thumbs.db files. I can see thumbnails on my local C: drive. If I browse my network drive I can see thumbnails.
But I have also mapped my network drive as Z:. If I browse the mapped drive I can't see thumbnails.
Can anybody confirm that they can/cannot see thumbnails on mapped drives that don't contain thumbs.db.
Folders don't initially incorporate Folder.jpg into their thumbnail. If I browse into the folder I can see the thumbnail for Folder.jpg only. If I then return to the parent folder the folder now incorporates Folder.jpg into it's thumbnail.
Recently I had to restore my laptop to factory settings and now when I go online and try to click on an image it will not open. the screen goes slightly darker and a single white bar about 6 inches long runs horizontaly across the top of my screen. The background is still visible but thats it. I am using win 7 home on a 64 bit system. Is there something I can reload or enable?
OK basically the title explains it all i thought i fixed this by system restore but after a few days my video and music files are not generating thumbnails all there is only VLC icon is showing. (some thumbnails are showing and all picture files have thumbnail)
here is a example Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting
Suddenly, I am getting half greyed out images when I click on a thumbnail. Had 25 out of 67 on a card I just uploaded and thought it was a corrupted card but just tried to open an image from several months ago and the same thing happened - only get the top half of the image. Not always half, might only be a third.
