Apr 28, 2011Kind of a pain to have to refresh your entire cache every time you have one bad thumbnail.

Video Thumbnails Not Showing?
Nov 23, 2012I've tried going into folder options and unticking and ticking. I've ran disk clean up I've ran sfc /scannow I've installed some codecs
I did find something about editing the registry but when I was following the instructions I couldn't find the specified area mentioned in the article. So I haven't actually change anything in my registry yet.
Video Thumbnails Won't Show Up
Aug 13, 2010I'm using Windows 7 just like you all. Ultimate edition, 64-bit. The system is running perfectly without any problems, but I got one issue after two weeks of using Windows 7. The problem is that video preview thumbnails are not showing up. "Show thumbnails instead of icons" in view options is checked.Take a look. On the left side is my HDV camcoder captured files, .mt2 format. But on the right side is my video folder, contains .mp4 and .wmv formats. As you can see .mp4 .wmv thumbnails are missing.

Jan 3, 2012Running Windows 7 Pro X64. Some *.avi files show thumbnails but others show an icon. Folder view options the same for all sub-folders in the main video folder. "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is unchecked. Switching that setting causes a change in some folders but not in others.Not a train smash.

Jan 20, 2011Ive read this is a windows 7 problem but all my mp4's have the usual default image instead of what they used to have when I first downloaded them. Did the thumbnail location change? I did, at one point, install a new media player which became my default for some reason, I corrected that problem but all my mp4 thumbnails vanished after I returned media player as my default...whats the deal here? I tried clearing and resetting the thumbnail cache, I also tried rebuilding the icon cache

May 30, 2011After finishing a *.m4v Video Download and placing only said File into into my Movie Folder I noticed the File Icon not displaying the usual Windows 7 Video Icon with an embedded Screencap but the actual Poster of the Movie. My question would be either: a) As I like this Idea pretty much I'd like to know how this is beeing done and if it's possible to do this with other files aswell like *.avi, *.mpg, *.m2ts, etc... b) As I hate to have only one file like this I'd like to know how to revert this to the usual Windows 7 Video Icon with an embedded Screencap in case it's not possible with most of the file types.

Sep 13, 2011I've been downloading many Videos and I watch them on WMP (I'm running Windows 7 64Bit) and I have variety of files. But for some reason files like .Mp4 would show thumbnails/an image of the video while my MKV files just show an Icon. I have installed K-Lite codec pack 5.2.0 (64Bit) to enable my WMP to watch several files. Also I have try installing the Divx preview thing (Forgot what's it called) and it does make the Mkv show the thumbnail but it lags incredibly when I play it. Is there any alternate way to make my MKV videos show thumbnails?

I like how Windows Backup saves all of the files that you have modified since the last backup automatically at a certain time that you designate. However when you go into the backup file, they are all zip files and have things all split up if they are big, and I have some big files. Is there a free backup software that functions like the Windows 7 Backup program but is more like an automatic copy and paste thing, or can I get Windows Backup to function as follows. For example, I want it to automatically copy and paste the files that have changed since the last time over to the external hard drive, and I want them to remain the way they are. I don't want them in the zip files, I want to be able to access a single file the same way I normally would. I don't want to have to remember all the files I've changed throughout the day and copy them over myself. So it's basically an exact copy of my Library that updates automatically when I plug the hard drive in or at a scheduled time.

May 6, 2009I am using the 7100 RC x64 and all was appearing great, however i am having a problem with its memory usage. After boot and in normal use it seemed fine, however i noticed first when i copied a 3gig file that the memory usage filled up along with it as it transferred but after the copy was complete the memory stayed full and as i type this now have 60mb free and it will stay like that until i reboot.
I rinsed and repeated and tried the same with an install involving large data files and again as it installed the memory filled up and after install completed the memory is all still in use (4gb btw). I looked on the internet and i cant see anything other than people saying how good its memory management is.
Additionally i am also seeing one of my cores at 90% (Duo). I have run malicious software tools and avast system scan and i have no idea where to go with this.
Prior to this i was running vista x64 with no problems at all, can anyone offer any advice?
Refresh Rates On LCD Monitors
May 21, 2009I just picked up a new monitor. It's a Samsung 2033 SW. 1600 X 900 with a 5Ms response time. It's only giving me one option. 60 hertz. Is this normal? My other one is very similar Samsung 932 BW+. 1400 X900 at 2Ms response. It's gives me a choice of 60 or 75 hertz.
I don't think it has anything to do with the video card or driver. Perhaps the driver for the monitor itself. I have the latest one from MS update for both monitors.
Also, how much does this matter. I have been told to go with the higher rate if possible. Do any of you know if this is the norm? Does it have to do with the difference in response time?
Network Drive Won't Refresh
Oct 3, 2012I am using 2 Windows 7 Professional 64 bit machines and 1 Windows 7 Professional 32 bit machine on a wired Ethernet network.
The network works very well with one issue. When I add a new folder on one machine and try to access that new folder from another machine the new folder does not appear. I must disconnect the network drive from the machine with the new folder then map a new drive. When I map the new drive the new folder displays in Windows Explorer on the second machine.
This is very frustrating when I want to add an email attachment file from another machine and it won't display until I disconnect and re-map the drive.

I tried the View settings in Explorer choosing large icons. And in Organize>Folder Options choose to uncheck the box for "always show icons never thumbnails". But I can't get this drive to show thumbnails. The root folder and all subfolders show only KMP icons.

Nov 17, 2011I have 7, 64 bit, running on an HP and have been keeping pretty up to date on my drivers.amd a4 3300 processor with graphics card, and 4 g ram.When trying to use menus, the window or entire screen will seem as though it refreshes, closing the menu, i can watch the bar across the top of windows flash as if it had just disappeared for a split second and the menu is gone, leaving me to reopen it, but at a second or less between these refreshes I have to be quick on the pointer to get to what I want. It seems to happen on any menu item, including all drop downs, wether im right clicking a start menu pined item, a choice dropdown on a webpage, a setting dropdown, etc. it doesnt alwasys do this but more often than not. It seems like I can sometimes restart the pc and it will work, but it often will do it right at startup. I hadnt noticed it til I connected the VGA out AND the HDMI out to the same tv (dont know why I did it at the same time, I think to compare the cropping). Also, I used system restore to go back to before a bunch of updates and it seemed to fix it, but that might just be because the pc restarted in the process.
