I have a video folder that is quite large and I don't want to lose the files in it.I copied the folder to a separate drive but the drive is small(160GB) and will not allow me to copy the folder twice to it.I add more files to the original folder and when I go to coy/backup I end up having to delete the folder on the separate drive so the original folder with new files will fit.My question is:Is there a way of 'Syncing' the folders so only the new files are copied? Or should I use Windows Backup just for this folder?
So I was working with moving my My Documents folder from syncing with Dropbox to Box and I messed up a bit. Well, at least I've found it and have access to it. Now I'm working on restoring a previous version.

The windows folder in my C: drive keeps growing on a massive scale...Yesterday the folder was around 13 gb...Now it is close to 18gb...When i first installed the OS i had allocated only 19gb for OS...But windows chewed up all this space fast and i used a partition software to increase size to 40gb...Immediately after restart the size of c drive increased to 22 gb....What is going on...The steps i have taken so far..

I have a folder called Mystuff on the Desktop which contains all my files. I try to copy to a folder named Backup on Drive D, but it wants to copy only files that have changed since my last copy.I have tried doing a 'send to' to Documents but it does the same thing. How can I copy all files in the folder to Drive D then to USB Drive H? It seems I was able to do this up until recently has something in WIN 7 changed?
copying a file to a Web Folder in Windows 7.I am able to connect to the web folder and see the subfolders. I am able to copy a local folder to the web folder as well. The only I am facing is when I am trying to copy a file. I am getting the error 0x80070057(The Parameter is incorrect). I have checked with fiddler and it does not look like its a server side issue. And I have also tried stopping most of the services as I read on the net that having 'Kaspersky' enabled and running interfered with the I/O for webdav.
Advanced user new to Windows 7 - I need to copy about 220 MB of files from one folder to two other folders, all on the desktop. In XP, opening the source folder and doing SELECT ALL would give the COPY, MOVE, DELETE options on the left hand of the folder. How best to do in Windows 7? Use the Copy to Clipboard, then Paste to the two other folders? If so, is the Clipboard big enough to handle the copying of up to 1.5 GB in files?
I made a really dumb mistake last night while setting up a VPN. Long story short I deleted my user account. Now, I did not lose any data at all (the account's folder still exists, untouched, in the /Users folder), it is just the user account picture and log in information that are gone. I have no way (that I know of) of re-referencing it so that it appears on my log-in screen again.My issue is that I effectively lost some programs and all configuration files that were exclusively associated with that account. Which is years of config data that I would HATE to have to do again. My questions are as follows (which are two sides of the same coin really).
Is there some way to re-reference this user account so it shows up and loads up like normal on windows login once again? (The system displays it as "User Unknown")f not, is there something that I can do with the /AppData folders of the new (recently created) and old ("deleted") accounts to make my new account be just like the old one?
I just want to share my problem regarding with the folder copying with the same permissions. Here's the scenario I installed domain server in my company and create a users ofcourse and in client pc we make 2 partitions in it(hard drive) C & D on drive D I make a folder Users with the permissions.
- C Drive OS Installed and basic programs - D Drive (with Users folder)
This is where I want to put the profiling on every users login on a client pc. My problem is:
1. How can I copy the Users folder in every client pc with the same permissions so I don't need to set in one by one on a client pc. 2. If there's a software or simple program that can do such thing transferring a folder to another pc over network with the same permission.
I just did an install of W7 on a new partition. I was trying to carry my Firefox settings from XP to the new install in W7. I followed some instructions I found online and copied the Profile folder for FF and merged/replaced it with the one in W7.Now the Mozilla Profiles folder is read only, and I get an "Access Denied" message if I try to change it. I also can not "take ownership" of the folder or change any of the security options.

I have a lot of directories that need to be transported via USB drive later (the files/folders vary each time). I want the files to remain in their original location, but have some kind of folder or structure where I can group the folders so that when I need to copy them, it is a simple matter of selecting one folder and copying it to the USB drive. I am working in Windows 7 XP Mode, trying to install and run a Microsoft utility called: WT1230: Batch File Converter for PowerPoint for Windows 95. (See WT1230: Batch File Converter for PowerPoint for Windows 95). Yes, the utility is intended for Win95, but I'd like to see if I can get it running in XP Mode. The utility installation instructions ask that I copy 2 files to the "Windows/system" folder. Of course, these instructions were written for Win95, not XP, let alone XP Mode. Still... if I copy the files, the core executable runs fine, but it can't find the 2 files that should be in "Windows/System". So, I gather XP Mode must have its own Windows/System folder.

I am trying to sync a Folder and all its subfolders between two computers. The upper folder show a mofified date that is consistant with what I expect but not all subfolders. and the data in the subfolders are not up to date.The upper folder size is 750mb well with in the size limit.
I have been trying to sync iTunes version 10.7 with my ipad in Windows 7. I have tried just about everything I can think of and it still goes to sleep or crashes where I have to restart everything when I hit the power buttion.
A colleague told me that he used to sync his notebook with his desktop PCby syncing a tree (in explorer?) and he was able to tell the sync to excludefiles below a ceratin directory (to reduce the amount of files being synced).That was under Windows XP.Now, he says, in Windows 7, he doesn't have this feature to stop at a certain directory level (depth)
I want to rid of my computer of anything apple related. I am getting sick of everything being confusing and difficult to use. And the new ITunes update did not work. Problem is I have an IPhone. And can't sync without ITunes. I've heard something about winamp able to sync IPods, but cant find much info on it. I could care less about backups and all the other garbage ITunes offers. All I want is a way to play music on my computer and also move that music to my IPhone. Nothing else.
When I try to sync music from windows media player to my phone, I get an error message on some songs that says File header too large. What I can do to correct this so the songs will play. I download mp3s from napster & my phone is a Blackjack2.
Every once in a while, when I go over a link, my cursor will become (for about a tenth of a second) a huge, kind of greenish-orange Link cursor. This has happened for a while... The earliest I can think of it happening was a few days after I installed Office 2010 Beta.
The desktop icons are suddenly huge and we can't figure out why it suddenly happened or how to make them smaller. We're using the highest resolution available, 1360 x 768.
I know there is a way to define the size of the icons; but, I can't remember what it is.
How can I quickly delete the content.ie5 folder? I've tried just deleting the folders(8) within the file but it takes forever and freezes up (right clicking & deleting). I tried through cmd prompt, but it still takes a long time. Is there a cmd prompt that'll just delete the file as a whole...I think I used something like /d and tried to do an individual folder and it took a while and I gave up...this was about 2 months ago. I saw a new cmd command rmdir /s...I don't know know if it's quicker or not. Is there a program I can download. And I right clicked and clicked on properties to see how big the file is and it's 85gb. I have screenshots and need a quick solution. It takes forever to do a virus scan, because it keeps getting hung up in the content.ie5 folder. And a couple of months ago...I found a virus/adware in those folders.
I'm using registry-tweaked custom DPI 86 (Windows would show it as 90%).It's wonderful, but it has one major downside. It's using the biggest possible navigation buttons. Now, I tried playing with Win 7 NBC, and even tried messing with explorerframe.dll, nothing works. Whole system acts like it's not loading navigation buttons from explorerframe.dll but from another, hidden source.
I know that such DPI is not supported but am I the only one who thinks that microsoft made every button and bar too freaking big?
I recently formatted my computer running windows XP & installed Windows 7 - 64 bit. (actually, it's been about a week).I've noticed that games have been super laggy and the FPS could drop to 1 FPS from time to time. It has made it extremely difficult for me to play Starcraft II and other games.I have installed all the correct & most recent drivers for my hardware (mobo, graphics card, sound card, etc...). I've done virus scans even though I haven't really downloaded much onto my PC aside from iTunes, Chrome, etc.I've played around with my nVidia control panel settings, & in game graphic settings (from highest to lowest). It didn't fix the low FPS.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. My SSD drive (128GB) died and I am waiting for a replacement so I decided to reconstruct the OS drive and transfer the image when I get my SSD back in a week or so. I decided to partition a drive of approx. 128 GB after I finished configuring Windows 7. However, There is a HUGE .sys file on my C drive. The name looks like some sort of system generated name ({aed8a510-a6d5-11e1-94ce-806e6f6e6963}.sys). It looks like a GUID and it is 134GB. I can't get into the file because it's a sys file and I'm sure if I delete it there will be terrible consequences. It has todays date on it. Does anyone know what this could possibly be? I've used Disk Cleanup and CCleaner and a few other utilities and Googled it like crazy to see if it can be safely deleted but none of these even list it.
My 300gb HD is filling up and I've determined something is creating huge (80-150gb) temp files.I delete them and they come back a few days later.I haven't installed any new programs except a few Topaz Photoshop plugins so I can't figure out what is making this huge file.Any ideas of how I can isolate the problem or limit the size of temp files?
