I have been trying to sync iTunes version 10.7 with my ipad in Windows 7. I have tried just about everything I can think of and it still goes to sleep or crashes where I have to restart everything when I hit the power buttion.
View 8 RepliesI want to rid of my computer of anything apple related. I am getting sick of everything being confusing and difficult to use. And the new ITunes update did not work. Problem is I have an IPhone. And can't sync without ITunes. I've heard something about winamp able to sync IPods, but cant find much info on it. I could care less about backups and all the other garbage ITunes offers. All I want is a way to play music on my computer and also move that music to my IPhone. Nothing else.

I have a 120 GB Classic iPod. I've had it for a couple years, and I managed it with my old laptop (Vista). I got a new laptop (W7) recently so I copied my iTunes library on to a external HDD and moved it to the new laptop. I tried to use it with my new laptop for the first time several days ago, but it wasn't detected.
When I plug it in or remove it the backlight comes on, but neither my laptop, iPod, or iTunes show any indication that the iPod is actually connected. No sync screen on the iPod, no data popping up in iTunes, no USB device connection manager on my toolbar. What's going on? I tried resetting the iPod, but that didn't work.
Yesterday, I decided to do a little experimenting. I tried my iPod with my new laptop. It didn't work. I tried both USB 2.0 ports but no dice. I poked around in the device manager and didn't see anything that I thought might correspond with an iPod. No "USB mass storage device" or anything like that.I tried my iPod with my old laptop and it did work.I decided to pop in my new laptop a never before opened flash drive that I purchased recently. It installed properly. I checked both USB ports and it was detected in both of them.

I want to sync them both (at the motherboard/cpu level) to make them work together, is there any way to do achieve this, with these machines? (And im not referring to just file sync, i mean having the clock, cpu, motherboard, memory, on both computers working together as if it were one machine.)
I have a video folder that is quite large and I don't want to lose the files in it.I copied the folder to a separate drive but the drive is small(160GB) and will not allow me to copy the folder twice to it.I add more files to the original folder and when I go to coy/backup I end up having to delete the folder on the separate drive so the original folder with new files will fit.My question is:Is there a way of 'Syncing' the folders so only the new files are copied? Or should I use Windows Backup just for this folder?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI use iTunes on my Windows 7 computer to sync with my iPhone, and the last time I went to open iTunes it gave me the error message "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."I had heard that if I uninstalled Quicktime (which is bundled with iTunes when that is downloaded), then reinstalled it separately, it would work again, but after trying that it didn't. So I decided to just uninstall iTunes, then reinstall it. However, every time I try to uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs, it just sits there saying it'll be about eight more seconds to go to finish deleting, but it just sits, and sits, and sits...... Nothing. I also tried to just install the newest iTunes on top of the existing one, but every time I try it tells me that it's already installed and to click "Ok." So I can't uninstall it, nor can I install it, nor will iTunes open on its own. I had done a system restore recently, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Problem A: It's hidden and I can't figure out how to undo that because:
Problem B: It's a shortcut and I don't know how to switch that back to something that works
Problem C: It won't let me access the previous versions. It says:

I have a puzzling problem, my new laptop allows a variety of power adjustment settings, however the only choice *sleep* for the lid closing, it is greyed out so I cannot select anything else, in the advanced settings no matter which configuration I choose for the rest, I am given just one choice.I always set ac connected lid close to do nothing on any laptop I have ever had before so I am mighty confused why I have no choice.

After reading through this forum, I tried disabling the Homegroup on both Win 7 computers. Even tried disabling the IPv6 on the network adapters.
I've also made sure power remains on to the wireless adapter even when computer is asleep. And updated all my drivers, etc. turning off the wired Win 7 computer. The laptop is also showing a Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter #3.
I own an HP dv6tqe-7000 and I have a pretty annoying problem. At random times the laptop won't go to sleep when I close the lid. The HP logo light stays lit even if I leave it alone for a couple of minutes. If I open it up the screen is blank, and both the power and WiFi light are on. The mute volume LED is off even though I had left it on before. The only thing I can do is hold down the power button to reset it.
I have no idea what causes this. Sometimes the laptop takes a lot longer to sleep than usual as well, up to a minute. I don't think this was a problem when I first got it about 3 months ago. The problem has been apparent for about a month now.
I tried updating the drivers to both the dedicated and integrated GPU, but unfortunately it still showed the same result. I know I updated my BIOS awhile back, but I don't know if that's the problem. I also bought a Logitech USB mouse I bought 2 months ago where you are just supposed to leave in the USB receiver.
At times it will go to sleep within seconds. I wish it would do this all the time because since I'm on campus I always have to put my laptop back in my backpack.
This has happened several times during the last few days. My laptop goes to sleep by itself randomly while I am actively using it. The model is Dell XPS L502x.
View 1 Replies View RelatedToday, I installed Home Premium 32 bit (it's dual booting with Win 2K Pro) on a Dell Latitude C640. After much patience, googling and having a driver disc for this laptop, I finally finished the install. For a 2002 model laptop, it looks pretty good. The only known problem that I'm having is that it won't go into sleep mode. All of the other options are there except that. Windows 7 will install on almost anything there is, it looks like. Anyone have a suggestion for the sleep mode problem?

View 5 Replies View RelatedHi new user here, my RTM copy used to go to standby and wake up fine but recently when I try to power it up the machine will appear to start up, but my screen, keyboard and mouse do not wake up, also my wifi light does not turn on either.
The only way to get on to my pc is to do a hard restart.

The report points to my wifi card being the source of the problem yet I have tried disabling it and the same occurs.
On my laptop, the drive is encrypted with TrueCrypt and I don't know whether it is better to have my PC set to sleep, hibernate or hybrid sleep when I close the lid. I kind of want the fastest, but most secure option though.
Also, in the TrueCrypt options menu it says Auto dismount when entering power saving mode. Is that sleep? And is dismounting when it encrypts it again?
My laptop is refusing to shutdown.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using my laptop (ASUS G73JW) with external monitor.The OS is Windows 7 ultimate 64. I set to "Do nothing" when the lid is closed and "Never" sleep in power settings. It never goes to sleep even if I'm doing nothing with my laptop for a long time. But it goes to sleep in random time when I start to play video with media player, even if I keep doing somethng with mouse or keyboard. I tested with various other media players, but symptom is the same. I'm not sure if this is the same on other laptop models/vendors. It seems like a bug is in Windows kernel drivers or ASUS specific drivers.

Multiple times when ive put my laptop into sleep mode it has crashed when I turn it back on. It does not do it every time, just majority. After I have turned my laptop off normally and then turned it back on I get the windows has crashed screen, asking me if I would like to start my computer in safe mode or normal. I do not get a BSOD. The error message when i log back in says the files that describe the problem are: C:WindowsMEMORY.DMP.
